POPSTwo Kidnapped Men Rescued In Oak Cliff, Texas Authorities declined to release the names of four of the suspects. However, police have identified the fifth suspect as Luis Owens Gonzales, 24. Mr. Gonzales and the kidnapping victim who escaped had served time together in a federal prison in Bastrop on narcotics-related charges, Sgt. Stressing said. Dallas FBI agents are also involved in the investigation. They referred all questions to Austin police, who plan to release more details Monday.

POPSTen Magnificent Tress I had the chance to stand next to General Sherman more than ten years wago when I visited California. I was truly in awe to see such an amazing living being. Heck, any single tree in Sequoia National Park is a sight to see. Just a gentle reminder to protect the planet, so more of these fantastic trees can grow and be discovered.

POPSU.S. public schools' problem: too much hugging? A few days ago, a 13-year-old middle school girl was punished with detention for hugging several friends. A few Google searches later, I find that bans on hugging (along with other restrictive policies about physical contact between students or on public displays of affection) are not that uncommon. Official justifications inuclude: the need to keep order (because prolonged or multi-person hugs clog traffic in hallways between classes); teachers' and administrators' inability to determine when hugs are unwanted by their recipients; and the belief that allowing any physical contact encourages a permissive attitude that will lead to disruption and fighting. Way to raise a generation of mentally healthy kids, folks.

POPSBike fastest Transport in Race I have always wondered how a bike would fare when pitted against the other forces of transportation. Sounds like it did pretty well! I guess that the Electric Bike came in first, until he fumbled around with his lock. So, for actual transpotation time the e-bike is fastest, just be sure you know how to work a lock.

POPSHorribly Sad Clothes and bathtubs need to be outlawed, or at least controlled. I don't mean to belittle this tragic story, but honestly, my second reaction was that this just goes to show (again) that if people want to die or kill others, they'll find a way to do it. Outlaw the guns and only the outlaws will have them.

POPSSome Schools Banning Homework At first, I was lie.. "Oh come on!, even I'm not THAT liberal..." but after reading the article.. well, if it i sin elementary school, and they have proven homework does little to help (besides reading at home), then maybe they have something. If the teachers instead focus on building good processes for teaching kids how to learn and studying in class, then maybe... I'm not an early childhood educator though...

POPSSmoking bans may get Bears timeout Did Chicago officials really think they could pass a restaurant and bar smoking ban without seriously damaging businesses? Every law has unintended consequences.
