Now there’s this… Obama Administration lied about cleanup efforts of Gulf oil spill. CNS News reported: (http://cnsnews.com/news/article/68895) Billy Nungesser, president of New Orleans’ Plaquemines Parish, sensed that a chart showing 140 oil skimmers at work — a chart given to him by BP and the Coast Guard — was “somewhat inaccurate.” So, Nungesser asked to fly over the spill to verify the number. The flyover was cancelled three times before those officials admitted that just 31 of the 140 skimmers were actually deployed. The incident is detailed in a report released Thursday by Republicans on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Republicans say the report provides evidence that the Obama administration misrepresented the assets devoted to the cleanup, misrepresented the timing of when government officials knew there was an oil spill and misrepresented the level of control the government had over the matter. http://bit.ly/4TxczB GWPundit

LaBrec said that the Coast Guard does not have concerns about the environmental impact of the ship’s operations. Some reports have said that the Environmental Protection Agency is worried that some of the 500,000 barrels of oily water sucked up each day by the vessel may contain some traces of oil when placed back in the Gulf. An EPA spokesman did not return a request for comment by press time. The Coast Guard spokesman said that there are no legal concerns holding up the “A Whale” skimmer. The Jones Act, which prohibits foreign ships from operating in or near U.S. ports in many circumstances, does not apply to skimmers. LaBrec said that the holdup for the super skimmer was required only because the government is required to give it the green light, even though BP would be the one paying for the skimmer and on the hook if it was not effective. “There are standards for oil spill response vessels, testing standards,” LaBrec said. “The federal on-scene coordinator is involved

POPSNo skimmers in sight as oil floods into Miss. waters Pure governmental neglect. The Administration should be sued for it's failure to act. Since Obama told Kyl that there'd be no immigration support without amnesty perhaps his plan is no federal help for the oil flood without his energy bill. This is the South after all and we do have GOP Governors. What would have been the response if this had happened off the coast of Martha's Vineyard?

Wait for it-The Coast Guard needed to confirm that there were fire extinguishers and life vests on board, and then it had trouble contacting the people who built the barges. So the brilliant Federal pinheads shut all of them down till they inspected the vessels instead of letting them work and inspect them in an organized manner that did not SHUT ALL OF THEM DOWN! Unfortunately Jindal felt her couldn't Overrule Coast Guard. Jindal tried to hold Obama to his word and attempted to contact the White House to get the POTUs off the potty and put the barges back to work!
