POPSWill They Block Your Domain Too? You might not own a short link service, but this DNS service didn't block the destination URL, it prevented the redirect url from being loaded at all! The important point here is that a DNS server has no way of knowing where the url redirects to until it sends the destination url back to the browser, so it's clear the service is blocking the root domain of the short link. That's like painting ALL redirects with the same "phishy" brush.. While I agree that security of short links or redirects needs to be addressed, this carte blanche treatment would certainly upset me if it were my domain being blocked!

POPSGoogle Unleashes Its Own Public DNS Be very afraid. Just kidding. Well, half kidding. It could very well be the standard from the get-go, due to Google brand name backing and the easy to remember 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 addresses. Do you want Google to know every single web site and page you have visited? Some people may not care, but some people concerned with privacy may disagree. If you're already a huge Google fan and first-mover, then you probably don't really care that they can read your email, office documents, calendar, voice mail, health records, and have a picture of your house.
