POPSPhysicists Seek Answers to Quantum Correlations The physicists ruled out several possible classical explanations for the instantaneous communication. For one thing, they showed that the photons did not share information before leaving Geneva, and so they didn´t travel knowing about each other´s properties. In another test, the scientists showed that no communication could have occurred through a different reference frame, as might happen because of the photons´ high speeds. According to Einstein´s theory of relativity, observers moving at high speeds can get different measurements of the same event because they have different reference frames. But, by performing tests over a complete rotation of the Earth, the researchers ruled out this possibility. "We think space and time are important because that´s the kind of monkeys we are,"

POPSSpooky Physics: Signals Seem to Travel Faster Than Light One could instead argue that an entangled object releases an unknown particle or some other signal at high speeds to influence its partner, giving the illusion of a simultaneous reaction. In the past, experiments have ruled out any suspects for such hidden signals from the realm of classical physics. Still, one exotic possibility remains — that such x-factors instead travel faster than the speed of light. To investigate this possibility, scientists at Geneva in Switzerland began with entangled pairs of photons, or packets of light. These pairs were then split up and sent over fiber optic cables provided by Swisscom to stations at two Swiss villages some 11 miles (18 kilometers) apart from each other. The stations confirmed that each pair of photons had remained entangled — by analyzing one, scientists could predict aspects of its partner.

POPSOptic atrophy Causes - Congenital: e.g. Leber's optic atrophy - Acquired: blood supply changes in the eye or optic nerve (anterior ischemic optic neuropathy or posterior ischemic optic neuropathy), may be secondary to inflammation or swelling within the optic nerve (optic neuritis), may be a result of pressure against the optic nerve (such as from a tumour), or may be related to metabolic diseases (e.g., diabetes mellitus), trauma, glaucoma, or toxicity (caused by methanol, tobacco, or other poisons). It is also seen in vitamin B12 deficiency and Paget's disease of the bone.

POPSCuba lifts ban on home computers From the website: The government says it is unable to connect to the giant undersea fibre-optic cables because of the US trade embargo. All online connections today are via satellite which has limited bandwidth and is expensive to use. Cuba's anti-American ally, Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez, is laying a new cable under the Caribbean. It remains unclear whether, once the connection is completed, the authorities will then allow unrestricted access to the world wide web.

POPSPolice Deploy Spy-in-the-Sky UAV in Miami Another spy toy deployed. Military UAVs being used for domestic surveillance? Citizens are suspected enemies it seems as local as well as federal government distances itself further from treating the public as "free" people.

POPSUFO's 'Down Under' - Mystery Revealed In 1989 there was a huge and very similar story from Belgium. Giant triangles flying over Brussels, showing up on radar....huge as battleships or aircraft carriers. The Belgian Air Force called a press conference about it and showed the images and radar scans, with audio recordings of the pilots who were sent to intercept. No one could offer an earthly explanation. The EU promised to look into it and then? Then the press died down and everyone forgot about it. I'll buy the Min Min lights explanation. I have seen lights in the outback myself and this could very well have been what I saw too. As for the antenna facility? Okay, I'll go with that too, but what about the Belgian triangles and the Stephensville and Phoenix triangles? Back to square one, I guess. The mystery continues. :D
