POPSThe Progressive Reactionarism of the Postmodern Left
. . . and yet every campus wallows in the fetishization of non-Western cultures. Gandhi, the former soldier turned independence activist, has become the plaster saint on the wall of Western pacifism, and the Koran has become the book of tolerance and feminism. Those so intolerant of the hypocrisies of their own culture, eagerly wallow in the hypocrisies of other cultures. The progressives thought they were moving up, but the reactionaries think that down is up. That the way to a better future lies in making do with less and living a simpler life. These ideas are not rational, they are cultic. Their embrace of Islam, the most reactionary creed since the witch doctor and his bone knife, does not derive from a comparison of its relative merits, but from their political escapism. They are too lazy to be bothered to analyze ideas on their merits. Instead they choose the one furthest away from the rational and congratulate themselves on how well they refuse to be fooled . . .

POPSJulian Assange's Strong Defense of WikiLeaks, Compares to FOX's Murdoch
His "Don't Shoot the Messenger" article begins by comparing what he has done to Murdoch's father who did similar. A very compelling comparison, and that is only the beginning. Note, he is not "anti-war" (pacifism), which bursts another bubble. He also presents strong legal precedent from the highest U.S. court for doing such: In its landmark ruling in the Pentagon Papers case, the US Supreme Court said "only a free and unrestrained press can effectively expose deception in government". The swirling storm around WikiLeaks today reinforces the need to defend the right of all media to reveal the truth. Some believe that Assange (as a former arrested hacker) could either be providing propaganda FOR the Pentagon (note it supports most of their propaganda about Iran etc, and Israel is never criticized) or being "used" as an unsuspected source for such purposes. (Does Saudi Arabia really think the U.S. should bomb Iran? Just who wrote that cable?).

POPSVictor Davis Hanson's Remarkable Diagnosis of Obama as a "Postmodern" President He lines out the set of illnesses and failed reasonings which characterises the utopian pacifism of Obama and the left in general. He draws out the arrogance and betrayal of the protesting Iranians living under tyranny and connects this failure of the Obama administration back to the inherent logic of anti-americanism and multi-culturalism. http://bit.ly/9VreY1 http://kitmantv.blogspot.com Victor Davis Hanson (born 1953 in Fowler, California) is a military historian, columnist, political essayist and former classics professor.

POPSCoexist? * C wants to kill E, X, T, and (by implication) O. If they achieved the world they wanted, I and S would also no longer exist. * O doesn’t allow for effective resistance or defeat of C. * E stands in direct opposition to C, X, and T, and accuses those who speak against them of hate speech. Also, they’re trying to edge X and T out of public schools in favor of their own agenda. (They’re afraid C will be offended, so they get less trouble.) E is actually very, very intolerant. * X’s existence is threatened not only by C but also by O, who invariably supports C over X. * I and S are statistically insignificant and are mainly on there to complete the bumper sticker. * T is who the bumper sticker is really arguing against, but poses no physical threat to any of the others. Historically, T has brought about more tolerance– “coexistence” if you will– than any other movement. But the kind of “coexistence” the people who make this sticker envision is one where at

POPS2010: Our Year of Decision ~ By Victor Davis Hanson
The Soviet Union fought Japan in a border war -- during which it signed the Molotov-Ribbentrop non-aggression pact with Hitler's Germany. Weeks later, the Nazi invasion of Poland marked the start of the Second World War. Events in 1939 alone did not cause the outbreak of the global conflict. Rather, it followed from years of bad ideas like serial appeasement of Hitler, the near-disarmament of Western democracies and flirtation with pacifism. This behavior had inadvertently sent a global message: Britain, France and the United States were unwilling and unable to meet the challenge of totalitarianism. And so dictators called their bluff in 1939 and began to move. Closer to the present, 1979 was another climactic year. Jimmy Carter's prior years of sermonizing about American bad habits had convinced many of the world's bad actors that it was time to press forward their regional agendas without fear of American reaction. POPSMukyokai & Pacifism Small weaknesses in the Mukyokai opposition to Japanese Imperialism do not bear comparison with the outright compromise of the organized churches. As previously noted, the main factor in the Mukyokai independence was its lack of organizational structure. The denominational institutions were preoccupied with administrative and organizational survival, whereas the Mukyokai were free to be responsible for their actions as individuals, and therefore to witness their faith with honesty, integrity, and personal freedom.

POPSFact: Nearly All of Hitlers Beliefs Placed Him On the Far Right[
Many conservatives accuse Hitler of being a leftist, on the grounds that his party was named "National Socialist." But socialism requires worker ownership and control of the means of production. In Nazi Germany, private capitalist individuals owned the means of production, and they in turn were frequently controlled by the Nazi party and state. True socialism does not advocate such economic dictatorship -- it can only be democratic. Hitler's other political beliefs place him almost always on the far right. He advocated racism over racial tolerance, eugenics over freedom of reproduction, merit over equality, competition over cooperation, power politics and militarism over pacifism, dictatorship over democracy, capitalism over Marxism, realism over idealism, nationalism over internationalism, exclusiveness over inclusiveness, common sense over theory or science, pragmatism over principle, and even held friendly relations with the Church, even though he was an atheist.

POPSUtah Phillips - Pacifism and Privilege "You know, an alcoholic, they can be dry for twenty years; they're never gonna sit in that circle and put their hand up and say, 'Well, I'm not alcoholic anymore' - no, they're still gonna put their hand up and say, 'Hi, my name's Utah, I'm an alcoholic.' It's the same with violence. You gotta be able to put your hand in the air and acknowledge your capacity for violence, and then deal with the behavior, and have the people whose lives you messed with define that behavior for you, you see. And it's not gonna go away - you're gonna be dealing with it every moment in every situation for the rest of your life."

POPSThe World March for Peace and Nonviolence Why? Because we can end world hunger with 10% of what is spent on arms. Because eliminating wars and violence means leaving human pre-history behind and taking a giant step forward in the evolution of our species. Because we are accompanied by the voices of all the war-torn generations that came before us. The echo of their voices still resounds throughout the world, wherever armed conflict leaves its sinister memorial to the dead, disappeared, disabled and displaced. Because a “world without wars” is an image that opens the future and seeks to become reality in every corner of the planet, as violence gives way to dialog. The moment has come for the voiceless to be heard! Out of agonizing and urgent need, millions of human beings are crying out for an end to wars and violence. We can make that happen by uniting all the forces of pacifism and active non-violence worldwide.

POPSA War Fought in Ignorance There are reports that the Taliban provided American emissaries with opportunities to take bin Laden, which the U.S. failed to do because it was culturally blind to the signals being given. No one is forcing the Afghans and the Pakistanis to adopt the Taliban’s deplorable practices; the people of those two nations are making the choice to do so. America feels it has to destroy “Islamo-fascism,” and the Taliban was the only radical Islamic fundamentalist group that Washington knew about. U.S. leadership was seriously unaware of the difficulties of invading other countries to stamp out objectionable forms of native religion. Why does the U.S. insist on forcing its views on other cultures? We have no business interfering in foreign nations religion, politics, or civil traditions. Hasn't it been proven enough that peace is better than war?

POPSJapan's Ultra-Nationalists Live On The world, it seems, cannot yet rid itself of neo-nazies, ultra-nationalists in Japan and Russia, or various fundamentalist crazies. Let's hope that election of Senator Obama to US Presidency begins to point toward a new direction for the global society.

POPSDo Our Political Beliefs Have a Biological Basis? It's a golden rule of democracy that people are free thinkers. There's just one problem: we aren't wired that way—not, at least, according to a new study that probes past the rational mind in search of a biological basis for our political beliefs. The results seem to suggest that our ideas about the world are shaped by deep, involuntary reactions to the things we see.

POPSDorothy Day's diaries published Dorothy Day's diaries are to be published. They were sealed for 25 years after her death in 1980, and should provide an interesting insight into her life and ministry. Dorothy Day was a Catholic anarcho-pacifist, and is a good illustration of the principle that theological conservatism leads to political liberalism, and vice versa.
