POPSCaplin Rous is a hundred-pound rodent with more than 2,700 Twitter followers [PICS] Caplin Rous is a capybara. Related to the guinea pig, the capybara is the largest species of rodent. Though they're native to South America, Caplin was born in Texas and lives in the town of Buda with Melanie Typaldos, who never expected this animal to take over her life quite the way he has. Typaldos says it all started on a trip to Venezuela, when her daughter Coral got to hold a young capybara and fell in love. "After we got back, she pretty relentlessly pestered me about getting one for a pet," Typaldos said. "Since Coral lived in an apartment and was planning on spending a year in Asia, she couldn't have a pet capybara herself, so she felt it was up to me to fulfill her capybara vision." POPSHow To Use An APOSTROPHE REMEMBER: If you're trying to say "it is" or ("it has") use an apostrophe Example: It is (it's) unusual to put crickets in coffee, but I do it anyway. It has (it's) been a fun day. We should go to the velociraptor petting zoo more often!

POPSMIA Labrador Sabi, Greeted by Prime Minister Rudd and General McChrystal
The Afghan handed Sabi over and the American quickly realised she must be a military-trained animal. Within days, the Labrador was returned to her unit - no worse for wear. Mark Donaldson, the SAS trooper awarded the Victoria Cross for rescuing a wounded interpreter during the battle, said: 'Sabi's the last piece of the puzzle. 'Having Sabi back gives some closure for the handler and the rest of us that served with her in 2008. It's a fantastic morale-booster for the guys.' The dog's unnamed handler told of the moment he was reunited with Sabi. He said: 'I nudged a tennis ball to her with my foot and she took it straight away. 'It's a game we used to play over and over during her training. It's amazing, just incredible, to have her back.' The dog was returned to the Australians' base just in time for a visit by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, who was photographed along with the U.S. commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, petting Sabi.

POPSThe Bronx Zoo Is Having To Lay Off Lots of Animals
And later that afternoon he actually saw an ostrich putting ketchup on a penguin. Zoo Director Muckenmuch said that on average about two million people visit the 114 year-old institution annually. He remarked that so far this year the Bronx Zoo has had a total of 917 visitors and that includes the three social workers who recently came in to give one of the older giraffes an enema. Muckenmuck said that just this morning he was told by one of his zoo employees that he had observed two of the kangaroos fighting over who would get to eat the empty food dish. As he looked out the window, he could clearly see one of the zoo vultures trying to put an otter between two slices of bread. Muckenmuck said that these are not pretty pictures and that is one of the reasons why a lot of the parents are keeping their kids away from the zoo. He lamented that it's sad to see all of these wonderful animals turning into cannibals. And the way things are going Muckenmuck says that he's af
