The Grand Canyon Legally Reverts Back To The Navaho Indians
foxyarse
by foxyarse  8-23-2009    2
Now let me get this straight. The Navaho folks, which probably now only number about 45 individuals or so expect me to just hand them over $10 billion in cash?" Nooooo way! You know folks, I was born at night, but it wasn't last night. I am categorically gonna go out on a limb here and state for the recorded record that I ain't paying diddly squat. And let me make this point perfectly clear. I want that sumbitch eyesore moved off United States property by October 15. Nobody not even the non-drinking Mormons are gonna mess with the brother here. Cause I am the 'main man' and I have been to hundreds of picnics and there ain't nobody, especially no loincloth wearing folks gonna push around this half African-American boy. The president was so upset that one of his secret service agents had to bring him an L&M cigarette and a Bud Light Beer. President Obama finally calmed down. He called up the Attorney General and told him to draw up the paperwork for a counter offer.

Steel Building Brings ‘Green’ to Organic Blueberry Farm in KY
devidmark
by devidmark  8-12-2009
It’s no surprise that many people look forward to summer because of the food that the earth offers in abundance during the season—deep green cucumbers, bright red tomatoes, sheathed yellow corn, seed-speckled strawberries, and tiny bursts of blueberries are typical staples found at most barbecues, picnics, and dinner tables.

Racist Mobs at it in Australia (Again)
foxyarse
by foxyarse  8-2-2009
There were also reports that the group attacked a taxi driven by an Indian Sikh and an Asian shopkeeper. In scenes reminiscent of the Cronulla riots, when 5,000 white Australians congregated in the Sydney beachfront suburb and attacked Lebanese immigrants, groups of men jumped on cars that were stopped at traffic lights and chanted racist slogans to the terrified passengers.

by HealMyselfWithoutDru  7-14-2009
An adult tricycle is the answer if you want to get fit but have balance issues like me. I've been looking for a good value adult tricycle for a long while and I finally found one at Amazon.com of all places. This isn't the only adult tricycle they stock, there's a range of other trikes. I'm sold!

Paying For Universal Health Coverage
debbyski
by debbyski  6-7-2009    4
“Just think about what battles we could be fighting instead of fighting this misguided war,” President Obama YES! Look what we could have provided our citizens without this blood for oil war. Tell me why taxes aren't more of a damn moral issue. I'll tell you why, pure greed and there's nothing Christian about that at all. Too many American's want a free ride. They want safe highways to zip around on but they don't want to pay for the construction or maintenance on them. They want schools and libraries for their kids, parks for their family picnics, police and fire departments to protect their homes, but they don't wanna dig in their own damn pockets to make them available. Well, GUESS WHAT? Community don't work like that, our government costs money, and I want to see it for the betterment of our citizens--and that means comprehensive health care.

Spiritualmonkey

I think this is an excellent idea. This is part of what diplomats are supposed to do, throw parties and make polite gestures. We've had eight years of bush /Cheney siccing "diplomats" like John Bolton on the world. The whole idea of diplomacy is so that we don't have to use the army. Which is both currently broken and otherwise committed. Corn-dog, Mr. Ambassador?

Flickr has Porn
Imnclady
by Imnclady  9-27-2008    2
As a Flickr member I can opt out of seeing pictures by people who post nude or pornigraphic pictures...but I wonder, who else is looking at them? Should I worry that my granddaughter who is 13 years old may mosey on into one of these porn sites on what I thought was mostly used for sharing family photos, like new babies, picnics in the park and pictures you took during vacation....I also know that some pictures of children are being stolen and used in ads or blogs....I found one of my pictures of my 3 day old grandson on a wordpress.org blog where they talk about having cancer. You can imagine my shock, when I saw his picture displayed (he was yawning and if you didn't know it, he looked more like he was crying in pain)....Evidently the author was trying to lure readers who want to see someone (in this case babies) suffering and in pain...I immediately set the picture to private...when I last checked the image was gone, but my name over it is still there, with a link to my Flickr

NIES Kids' Pages - Sing-Along Songs Midis & Lyrics
franstuff
by franstuff  6-17-2008
Cool government web site that has all sorts of stuff for kids, one of those things being an index of lyrics and tunes to Sing-Alongs. I have been having a blast finding songs we used to sing at the summer picnics my neighborhood (Capital Hill, Seattle, Wa) used to have in the 70's. They were hosted by the Bullit sp? family, former owners of KING 5 TV. I just happened to be lucky enough to be best friends with someone who lived accross the street from them. We always sang songs when it started getting dark. I have a lot of good memories about those picnics. They were nice people too. One year they paid for me to go to summer camp because my family couldn't afford it. We didn't ask, I think they heard if from one of my friends.

He Took a Polaroid Every Day, Until the Day He Died
Socratoad
by Socratoad  5-22-2008    1
Seldom have I ever witnessed a story in pictures and words quite as thought inducing as this one. I urge everyone to go to the site and absorb every photo, every word, every nuance. Yes, I'm well aware we all go. Its just a matter of when and where, but for me this is a reminder to not sweat the small or petty stuff. Food for thought.
