POPSChevy Volt Gets 230 MPG? The media no longer sees itself as an arbiter of truth or a purveyor of information, but as a cheerleading booster of particular causes – typically the causes supported by the urban intelligentsia of the coasts. High on the list of fashionable political causes to be evangelized is the war against oil, which before an election always seems to become “foreign” oil. (After the election, petro-equality returns and domestic oil is bad-mouthed, too).

POPSHybrid Hogwash Now that Obama owns two car companies and is quickly trying to cram hybrids cars on the American public it seems that this discussion on their effectiveness would have been better timed BEFORE OBAMA bought the car companies. But like so many of his policies there is never any discussion just a rapid rush to legislate and then we the people are left to clean up the wreckage. This report when read in its entirety shows all too well what is wrong with our energy policy in America. IT IS THE ENERGY CZAR who refuse to allow us to build plants, drill for oil, produce natural gas, explore for more oil reserves. instead they want to install a completely new system for which no infrastructure has even been planned let alone built. We truly have a BOZO in the White House.

POPSRepower America Anyone who cares about ours and our cildrens futures. It's not enough t osay we care about animals and plants. To say that we want to do something and then expect that our "wishes will become fishes" may make us feel better about ourselves but it's a hollow thought. Now I've never been known as a strong proponent of the United States, but if we can believe that change can occur then I propose to you here and now that this might be one of those watershed moments into a future I could be proud of. If sustainable living and trying to balance our horribly imbalanced human existences has any meaning for you then I emplore you to act in your capacity to promote this ideal in it's most realistic and sustainable way.

POPSRNC Energy Ad False Annenberg points out that Obama has an entire webpage devoted to energy proposals, including "a 10-year, $150 billion spending plan that would go toward clean coal technology; further development of plug-in hybrid cars; and commercialization of wind, solar and other renewable fuels." "The RNC and McCain may not like all of Obama's ideas, just as Obama may not support all of McCain’s, but that doesn’t mean that they don't exist," says Fact Check.

POPSMcCain Proposes Incentives to Lower Gas Dependency I think the funniest part of this is that his solution to throwing around money is to throw around money. There are some good ideas here; mostly the consumer tax credit. But the main message is "I got nuthin'. Here's a buttload of money, can I buy an idea?"

POPSHow Plug-In Hybrids Will Save the Grid Since utilities have built enough power plants to provide electricity when people are operating their air conditioners at full blast, they have excess generating capacity during off-peak hours. If plug-in-hybrid or all-electric-car owners charge their vehicles at these times, the power needed for about 180 million cars could be provided simply by running these plants at full capacity.

POPSElectric Cars: Is there enough power to power? If all the cars and light trucks in the nation switched from oil to electrons, idle capacity in the existing electric power system could generate most of the electricity consumed by plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. A new study for the Department of Energy finds that "off-peak" electricity production and transmission capacity could fuel 84 percent of the country's 220 million vehicles if they were plug-in hybrid electrics. Yes there is enough power to power electric cars (at least in the East and Midwest).
