POPSDo you still send postcards? I love to send postcards. I think it's a more personal way to stay-in-touch with friends and family than email. I choose cards that best fit a persons personality: quirky cards for my best friend, nature images for my brother. I buy cards for myself such as photographic cards that surpass my skills in that area. I especially love cards made by artists.

POPSPenny Postcards Tired of E-Cards??? Want to try something different for once? I found this site looking for a card for a dear friend's birthday the other day. I had to come back today to share it with all of you. It is fresh and funny and anything over a hundred years old that they can get their paws on you can find. Tagged and categorized, I do not think you can go wrong... and what was naughty 100+ years ago would not raise an eyebrow today... Oh, and monkeys are VERY BIG here! Fair warning.

POPSPostcards From the Frontier: Unmovable American Images More commminstrelon were the scolders and scandalized of Europe’s elite. Shocked at the determination of her fellow travelers to cram more baggage on her coach than it could decently carry, a visiting Frances Trollope protested, “No law, sir, can permit such conduct as this.” She elicited the loud reaction of backwoods laissez-faire: “We makes our own laws, and governs our own selves . . . this is a free country, we have no laws here, and we don’t want no foreign power to tyrannize over us.” Mrs. Trollope thought the association of law with tyranny revealing, even if it came from men who had “evidently been drinking more than an usual portion of whiskey.” It suggested a bias on behalf of convenience as against custom, lawlessness transformed into freedom. And it typified the ways in which Americans drew distinctions between themselves and Europe.

POPSAw, Shucks, It's just a Li'l Ol' Constitution! Credit SF Chron columnist Mark Morford for this apt description: After all, the right has its own heaping bucket of problems right now, not the least of which is the weakest and craziest and least palatable field of GOP contenders in 50 years. There's the chipper creationist nutball who loves him some Chuck Norris, the stupefied Mormon mannequin who simply cannot believe the world is so icky and complicated, the doddering Iraq-loving war vet who seems to be getting more unstable by the minute, and the cross-dressing former New York mayor who has "9/11" tattooed on his ego in fake blood. And oh yes, a zany old anti-choice libertarian who somehow keeps raising piles of cash and sending fascinating postcards from the edge of political reason. Cool!
