I haven’t dared to try any of these things yet. I just appreciate them when I see them. But I run into it nonetheless: reading my old attempts at novel-writing, I can see where I tried it without knowing that’s what I was trying, and screwed it up. Reading over more recent stuff, I can see the difference between character A and character B, the levels of sympathy and/or objectivity applied to their separate perspectives. I identify most easily with this character, and it is apparent in the story even when I made no conscious decision to choose one over the other. I am endlessly fascinated by this stuff. Writing a fictional first person perspective for the first time in –eek, 10 years at least– puts all this stuff front and center in my head. Because first person is instant intimacy, whereas with third limited, even a really close third limited, you have the option of pulling back just the tiniest bit, so that your reader can see that this character isn’t thinking clearly, or underst

POPSMarriage: "Healthy Conflict?" I'm not married yet & don't even have any prospects at the moment but I also feel it is wise to start training for marriage now before I even get close to it. Maybe I'll be able to avoid or at least be prepared for some of the problems that may & will arise should I ever be blessed with a husband.

POPS The Duty to Die Returns Politically, how can this play out? The same party that promises to coddle the elderly can’t win the votes of those it will beggar to support the bloated system of health care and retirement benefits, nor can it buy off the young workers with benefits for very long as the system is maxxed out. Will young hispanic workers still vote Democrat when their taxes are doubled and trebled to pay for the comfortable pensions of old white people?

POPSChristian Adoption Agency: Babies on 'Auction Block?' I realize that the adoption industry has become quite controversial. People have either a positive or negative POV. I'm not getting into that! My question is: Is THIS in the BEST interest of CHILDREN??? People are discouraged from placing ads out for ANIMALS in a newspaper... yet BABIES are being sold on the INTERNET???

POPSBuy me that too!! So when I was in Boston, I went to the museum there and saw an older version of AIBO as a museum attraction, and fell in love with it! Only thing keeping me from getting one was the horrible price tag. But now Sony says that they are going to release a new version, and I would love to get one of these! They are so awesome!!!

POPS Santa Cruz Sleeping Ban Debate Videos
Click on "Clipped From" link for videos at top of this Clip. People in violation of these laws face $92 tickets, despite our Vice Mayors confusion. According to reports, tickets can be dismissed from court because the city of Santa Cruz does not offer any legal sleeping option for people who do not have a legal place to sleep. Although the tickets may be dismissed in court, rangers and police regularly destroy or confiscate items belonging to homeless people, wake them up while sleeping, harass them and drag them through a revolving-door court system. You have to have the proper letter, walk to the shelter and hope the right person is there. It is not a solution with any dignity or compassion. These laws are demoralizing, unethical and unconstitutional in nature. I have never seen this type of dialog happen in Santa Cruz, I hope to see more of it in the future. POPSOne of My Personal Heroes is Gone Molly was a fearless journalist. Even people I know who disagreed with her political POV admired that way she unambiguously spoke her mind. I shall miss her clear and to the point columns that spoke truth to power. She was honest and called lies what they are.....lies. She did not dance around an issue, but went right to the core of the situation. I shall miss her.
