POPSMore Religious Right Insanity It doesn't take much effort to uncover the truly bizarre on the Religious Right. Now they're resorting to Mind Control Fatwas to murder McCain so their Joan of Arc Palin can take up the Christian sword of prophesy to finally end the ungodly behavior of the People Who Believe Differently Than I group. Remember, these are the same folks the Republicans are courting and proudly proclaim as their "base". Whatever!

POPSDesperation A reminder to remember Palin and her family in my prayers. "As usual, the DailyKos has been in the forefront of the attacks on Palin. Many of the more despicable attacks, such as the story that it was Palin's daughter Bristol who gave birth to Trig, have been removed from DailyKos' site -- not because they were inaccurate (which they were), but because they were becoming embarrassing to DailyKos and its owner and chief propagandist, Markos Moulitsas." "But DailyKos still has 51 lines of attack against Governor Palin up on their website, and to show you how depraved the mainstream media has become, many of them have been embraced by outlets such as CNN (embracing Kos Attack #4)."

POPSGustav Halts Democratic Attack Machine When Republicans announced that they would curb their convention activities, Democrats followed suit and cancelled a media walk-through of its spin center scheduled for Sunday night. In addition, Monday’s briefing at the “More of the Same Media Center” was also called off. However, Democrats at their response center across the street from the convention site continue to monitor the Republican gathering, ready to go into attack mode as soon as the convention returns to its original schedule.

Authorities have proclaimed both incidents to be terrorist acts.

POPSNew evidence for prayer: gas prices Obviously the fluctuation of prices are due to mixed prayers. You see, every few minutes, an Arab prays, “Allah, raise the price of oil!” And Allah answers their prayer. Then an American prays, “Jesus, lower the price of oil!” And Jesus does it. And so on and so forth, thus the fluctuation.

POPSACLU trying to control public prayer I thought the ACLU sought to protect people from the overreaching government and discrimination against religion, race, or creed. I guess I was mistaken. The mission statement of the ACLU states: The mission of the ACLU is to preserve all of these protections and guarantees: Your First Amendment rights - freedom of speech, association and assembly; freedom of the press, and freedom of religion. I wonder what changed?

POPSGeorgia looks to McCain "Obama? I'll quote John Hinderaker at Powerline, who expressed it wonderfully:" "While Obama initially parroted the Russian line, so that he was soon required to flip-flop--what a surprise!--McCain saw the crisis from the beginning as a clear case of Russian aggression, and understood the strategic implications of that aggression."

POPSAwesome Prayer of St. Patrick This is a prayer worthy of being repeated every day. St. Patrick was a faithful Christian in a time when being so put a man at risk of life and limb. We should have so much courage today.

POPSHorrors! Olympics: Controversy In Iran Over Female Flag Carrier Whoever is responsible for this unforgivable act, he should know that this gesture constitutes an obstacle for the 'appearance' of Mahdi," said Elmalhoda. He was referring to the mainly Shia Islam belief that imam Mohammed al-Mahdi will appear to fight a final apocalyptic battle over the forces of evil. Followers believe he was born in the year 868 and has been in hiding ever since awaiting a decision from god to reappear. from Adnkronos International, August 8:

POPSGranddaughter has Brain Surgery July 17, 2008...my granddaughter had brain surgery to rid her of seizures that she has been having for the last 4 years...they got so bad she wasn't able to go to school. Her medication could not keep them under control. It all started out as what everyone though was a cold or the flu...she contracted viral encephalitis , they don't know how or why. All I could think of to do at the time was ask everyone to pray for her and that's how the story ended up on MySpace... Except for one seizure last Tuesday, she seems to be doing well... :)

POPSMan Killed Is A Hero In The Shotgun Attack In Tennessee Church
Police had cordoned off the church with yellow and red tape, and were taking statements and collecting video cameras from church members who were taping the performance. Owen said the FBI also was assisting in the investigation. The church's minister was on vacation in western North Carolina at the time of the shooting but returned Sunday afternoon. "We've been touched by a horrible act of violence. We are in a process of healing and we ask everyone for your prayers," the Rev. Chris Buice said in a statement outside the church. The Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church is a community that meets to worship and work together for social change, according to the church's Web site. Since the 1950's, the congregation has worked for desegregation, racial harmony, fair wages, women's rights and gay rights, according to the Web site. The congregation also has provided sanctuary for political refugees, fed the homeless and founded a chapter of the ACLU.
