POPS Top Ten: The Scariest Ghost Movies It is fast approaching that unique portion of the year when all true matters arcane and diabolical are given the festive treatment, as Halloween prompts folks to deploy their broomsticks for something other than sweeping up after the household pet. Although we have recently seen cinematic quotas of the supernatural gobbled up by vampire and zombie flicks, it would be remiss to overlook the genuine chills instilled by the most successful exponents of the ghost movie genre. So here are ten of the scariest ghost movies to put the frighteners on us poor, trembling cinema-goers. Read more >>> http://funster.us/2009/10/top-10-the-scariest-ghost-movies/

POPSPart 2 The Marijuana Trick In September of 1937, hemp became illegal. The most useful crop known became a drug and our planet has been suffering ever since. Congress banned hemp because it was said to be the most violence-causing drug known. Anslinger, head of the Drug Commission for 31 years, promoted the idea that marihuana made users act extremely violent. In the 1950s, under the Communist threat of McCarthyism, Anslinger now said the exact opposite. Marijuana will pacify you so much that soldiers would not want to fight. Read MORE at source..........

POPSGuilty until proved innocent! We dying, suffering from all this stuff. Some sick minds some dozens years ago declared new era in our move in the road of progress and we relentlessly followed their mad ideas not even realizing how harmful they are. Only with genuine freedom of information in Internet the true appeared at its full extend and some of us horrified what was already done. We have to admit now that so called "chemical revolution" in fact was chimera, which directed us to our present dead end.

POPSThe Afghanistan Report by By Ikram Sehgal The population can also be a source of strength and intelligence and provide resistance to the insurgency. Alternatively, they can often change sides and provide tacit or real support to the insurgents. Communities make deliberate choices to resist, support or allow insurgent influence. The reasons for these choices must be better understood." The report addresses corruption and abuse of power but it does not give it the primary weightage it should. Karzai and his lot should not remain in power even a day. Abdullah would probably be worse. In the eight years since the Taliban were deposed in November 2001, "criminality has contributed to a pervasive sense of insecurity among the people. Extensive smuggling diverts major revenues from the government and increases its susceptibility to insurgent penetration. http://www.thenews.com.pk/editorial_detail.asp?id=201008

POPSLike the Basque country, Northern Ireland must prepare for occasional terrorist outrages more @ clip source Eta's current nihilistic campaign probably provides an even better comparison. We may in fact have to accept that – just as Spain and the Basque country will be shaken occasionally by the odd Eta outrage – the same goes for Northern Ireland and extremist republican groups. Basque nationalism has actually enjoyed more compromises from the Spanish state in the areas of language, culture and devolved power than Irish nationalists experience presently under their own devolved settlement. But for those in Euskadi who dream of an independent UN-recognised state straddling the Pyrenees the struggle must go on. And just as the uncompromising Etarras (militants) will continue with their futile terror, so too will an eternally insolent minority on the republican fringe

POPSObama Administration Moves to Shutdown Disclosure of Big Labor-ACORN Connections
U.S. Big Labor Department swings into action Instead of focusing on the economy or the alarming unemployment trends, Obama’s Big Labor Department seems to have focused little on the men and women behind those numbers. Instead, Secretary Solis has focused like a laser beam on eliminating disclosure of labor bosses perks and their spending of money collected as a condition of employment from millions of workers. And that is not all; Obama’s Labor Department creatively and without rulemaking eliminated 2008 Bush Administration reform of Labor Officer conflict-of-interest reporting. The following is the de facto rulemaking: Note: The Office of Labor-Management Standards will publish in the spring 2009 Semi-Annual Regulatory Agenda notice of an intended rulemaking to revise the Form LM-30 (Labor Organization Officer and Employee Report). The rulemaking is intended to review questions of policy and law surrounding these reporting requirements. ......

POPSThe Recession Effect: the Alarm We Greatly Deserved http://www.askdrnerenberg.com/successduringrecession People are running into a state of mindless panic. A scene not commonly seen in this generation, where people have been typically living on their hands and feet. This generation is characterized by hardworking citizens whose primary dream is to give financial security to their family. Oops, as in any generation. Think that and of recession, with a resulting not a pretty good combination. http://www.askdrnerenberg.com/successduringrecession

POPSOsama, Saddam, and Inferred Justification We argue that the primary causal agent for misperception is not the presence or absence of correct information but a respondent's willingness to believe particular kinds of information. Our explanation draws on a psychological model of information processing that scholars have labeled motivated reasoning. This model envisions respondents as processing and responding to information defensively, accepting and seeking out confirming information, while ignoring, discrediting the source of, or arguing against the substance of contrary information (DiMaggio 1997; Kunda 1990; Lodge and Tabor 2000). The above quote, as the rest of the article explains why Willy hates sociology so much. It proves him wrong every single time!

POPS6 Reasons Why Mozilla Firefox Is Safe Compared To Internet Explorer
While statistics put Internet Explorer clearly ahead as the most widely used web browser, it’s clear to many people that it is not due to the excellent programming. the practice of ‘bundling’ the infamous browser with the every copy of the operating system represents the primary reason behind its crushing dominance. ~~~ 4. Conscious users can install NoScript, an add-on that takes care of vulnerabilities that are not yet patched, either in Firefox or other plug-ins such as Java, JavaScript and Adobe’s Flash. It achieves this goal by allowing the user to selectively enable interactive objects that the user decides to trust, automatically blocking the rest. 5. Security through obscurity; malicious programmers will always target the browser with the largest user base, especially if that user base is less tech savvy. 6. Firefox uses a service provided by Google that notifies the user before entering a potentially malicious web site. These websites ask for your financial data und

POPSOpen Office- a viable alternative to the microsoft monopoly. I have been using this for about a week now and have uninstalled ms office completely, just part of an ongoing process to rid my windows machine of anything Microsoft, or Google related or any of their numerous affiliates. The program is more than capable of handling the average users requirements, I don't know if it would handle the needs of a business other than on the obvious lack of cost, but it certainly has that potential. Why not give it a go? What do you have to lose? It is free after all.

POPSObamacare Myths and Facts MYTH: Obamacare will make me wait weeks or months for necessary medical procedures. FACT: If you’re waiting that long, then obviously a qualified individual like Barney Frank or Nancy Pelosi decided the procedure wasn’t necessary. MYTH: Obamacare will be financed by cutting Medicare. FACT: Obamacare will be financed by eliminating Medicare recipients. MYTH: While many people will be forced onto the substandard public option, members of Congress will get a separate, much better plan. FACT: They will be on the same plan, but on a much much higher tier than will be made available to the hoi polloi. MYTH: Obamacare will be extremely costly and result in putting the country even further in debt. FACT: There is no confirmation of this, as the solar-powered calculator Obama tried to use to calculate the cost only allowed numbers up to the tens of billions.

POPSThe "seven habits of highly effective teachers" I think this is actually a pretty good summary of some important traits for teachers to cultivate. It's based on observations of a small group of award-winning primary teachers, but it has broad applicability, I think. Sure, it's a little vague, and it's kind of predictable, but sometimes bullet-pointed lists can be handy things anyhow. The source has more quotations and more detail.

POPSTime to put "Wealth On Trial" again? The Pecora hearings resulted in 12,000 pages of transcripts that are still a primary source for historians of the Great Crash, and important New Deal legislation that for the first time regulated the high-handed, free-wheeling banking industry and protected the public from its excesses -- including the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 (which established the Securities and Exchange Commission -- Pecora was one of its first commissioners) and the Glass-Steagall Banking Act of 1933, which erected a firewall between commercial and investment banking -- a wall torn down during the Clinton administration, leading to much of our trouble today.

POPSI-Report Leaks Ahmadinejad Requesting Council Implement "Pure Islamic State" It’s impossible to tell if this is Dinnerjacket’s standard nutty boilerplate about the Islamic paradise eventually conquering the world or if he’s talking about a more specific “plan” for hardliners to assert themselves in Iran.... Update II: The video was also uploaded to Youtube in two parts five days ago. Update III: Jawa Reader Garduneh Mehr is also able to understand the video. Here's his take on it. 4. Throughout he makes intentionally ambiguous references to their "Goals and fondest wishes". 5. He says: "Fighting corruption and meting out justice is the source of much joy; but the greater joy is when our Primary Goal is achieved. 7. "Revolution has found its own way and a new phase has begun." 8. "A difficult period has ended; yet an even more difficult period has begun."

POPS Climate Change Is The Cause For Diminished Winds The study is going to be released and parts like these will of course be ignored by those wanting to push their agenda. The ambiguity of the results is due to changes in wind-measuring instruments over the years, according to Pryor. And while actual measurements found diminished winds, some climate computer models — which are not direct observations — did not, she said. And One of the problems Pryor acknowledges with her study is that over many years, changing conditions near wind-measuring devices can skew data. If trees grow or buildings are erected near wind gauges, that could reduce speed measurements.
