Bluehost How-To : What is ‘profanity’
hostingwebcoupon
by hostingwebcoupon  10-4-2008
My account was disabled for “adult content and profanity”. Since the main attraction is a forum, I’m just going to implement a censor for whatever words are “not allowed”. The problem is I don’t know how far to go with the censor. So I’m wondering if there is a list somewhere so I know which words to censor in order to turn my account back on.

Profanity Immunity
debbyski
by debbyski  9-1-2008    10
I'd LOVE to have immunity on CM but heck lemme address what I think is "kinky" about GOP "family values" instead of the dreaded F word. (and I meant fudge) I find it profane that they are busy wasting people's lives and treasure on a war for political and oil industry profit. I find it obscene they they have bankrupted the government to pay for tax breaks for the rich, corporate welfare and an insane cold war military style buildup. I find it dirty that they have ignored the Constitution. I find it immoral that they tell us what we really need are some "moral values" issues to shroud their wickedness in Godliness; to keep what they are really up to out of sight and out of mind and out of the news at all costs. I find poverty offensive. I find injustice, racism, sexism, and homophobia offensive. But most of all I find the greed of empire offensive. Oh, F U D G E . . .

Beverly Hills case blends free speech, public schools and cyber-bullying
Kelika
by Kelika  8-3-2008
"In the Beverly Vista case, in which attorneys for both sides are in the stage of filing motions, the friends had been out of school for about two hours when they talked about another girl at school, directing some profanity at the girl but making no threats. The girl who recorded that conversation on her personal digital camera posted it on YouTube that evening. The video was viewed by about 20 people, including the girl who was talked about in the recording, according to the lawsuit. In an Instant Messenger chat, that girl told the one who posted the video to "keep it up for now," court papers allege. The next day, the girl and her mother went to the school's administrative office. School officials summoned the student responsible for posting the video and demanded that she delete the video on the spot, saying she had humiliated the girl who was talked about, according to court documents."

Kung Fu Panda
bignosemousie
by bignosemousie  6-7-2008    13
There is much to like about this movie. The story is fun, the animation is good, the characters are lovable. What I really liked about this movie was the lack of profanity, name calling, sexual innuendos, and gross humor. It is really hard to find a new movie for kids that doesn't use the word stupid. It might be in there, but I don't remember hearing it, and I usually cringe at every instance. I do not want my daughter to use derogatory language (sweet words that edify!) and it is difficult to find movies or tv that doesn't drip with it. This is a fun, heart-warming story with a lot of kung fu. It got one of the best ratings at Kids-in-Mind, too. (1, 3, 1)

I understand this to mean that some actions of a wordly nature are construed as threats against the principles of free expression. I trust I offend nobody nor incite hatred or riot by this extremely partial and simple summary of 200 years of civilised debate.

As family movies draw crowds, film makers see gold in G and PG ratings
jatfla
by jatfla  12-29-2007
I'm not sure I agree with the first sentence but I'm glad to hear this if it's true. I also believe that the bar between PG and PG-13 has been lowered. AND I wish there were more movies being made that were *just* good! I'm so sick of the fraternity/sorority, sex/sicko, slice and dice, juvenile stuff I saw at my local video store last night.

Ms.Clinton lies. She despises regular people. Who do we know that is like that and seethes at any criticism of Hillary? Know anyone who would stoop to sending a profanity laced eMail privately to a Clipper (me) in response to my effort to bring Hillary's dangerous side to light? I think I do. Like Hillary, Like (insert name).

USA Congress: Yesterday: X-Rated Review
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  11-8-2007
One refreshing aspect of current USA political discussion is seeing and hearing the massive tidal wave, the roaring tsunami of resentment and anger, now directed at both US political parties. Gosh...I remember 'back in the Day,' when it was a few and sporadic voices seeking to mount opposition to the growing American fascism and imperialism -- all done under the waving of the flag and invoking of Christianity. But, gosh, now today it's hard to keep up with the many voices that scream for action, that wail against the policies of Bush and his neo-con illegitimate warmongers. It appears activist are thumbing through their dictionaries, thesauruses, Ency. Brits, Bulfinch's mythology, Aesops fables, records of the Crusades and Spanish Inquisitions, not to mention of course Homer, Shakespeare, Barry McGurie, Bob Dylan, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, etc. Yes, indeed, "The Eastern World, it is exploding..." Now, even slang and profanity are being strained to their limits.
