POPSEverybody dance now: Give back to my campaign contributors two-step Not to pick on Sen. Sessions because Senators and Representatives on both sides of the aisle have been lining up for the past several weeks now to give short term "free rides" on duties for manufacturers in their states. The are all defended on the grounds that these are only temporary reductions and not a big give away. Grin. You place your orders for the material you need for the next six months to fit in the window of the "temporary" give back and it gives you a free ride for six months - sometimes even a year. Pretty slick eh? Not any more, now you know about this innocent appearing pay back scheme. How big it is? In $ II could not say but there have been more than 200 of these bills introduced in the last few weeks - that's big. But they can decide on healthcare til the end of the your or more - gimme a break!

POPSStop C-17 Earmark Theft by US Senate Maybe we can make change but the US Senate is slow to change when it comes to pocket change for campaign coffers and paybacks by the millions to contributor companies for goods no one in Department of Defense wants. Add to this that troops sometimes have to get relatives and friends to buy body armor for them that the DOD can't "afford" to supply them with and it makes you wonder how some of these out of touch US Senators sleep well at night.

POPSSenate Still Addicted to Earmarking Billions for Unwanted Defense Spending Senators often like to brag how much they support the military but what they are actually doing is supporting companies that produce military hardware and services by taking money away from needed defense spending and support of troops and giving it to stockholders of profiteering companies and in a number of cases to their own former employees.

POPSHey Buddy! Got Some Spare Change? A Billion? OK, so it's a dream that I see the head of DOD standing at Pennsylvania Avenue - Gates - asking people walking by for spare change to fund the wars, buying and building weapons, feathering his nest for retirement. And I say: "Sorry, I only have fare for a bus ride to Kabul and back - maybe later. Say, didn't you used to be famous? Why don't you get a job? I say. He get angry and starts yelling, "I only asked ya for a billion! Everyone has a billion!" It was embarrassing - there was some white spit on his chin.

POPSWhat did slave labor make for you? Human trafficking is as much about child labor slavery, as it is about sex. Something that you already own was probably made by a child slave. Find out what is is so you don't support slavery any more!

POPSShoddy/Profiteering - Former Bush Cronies Cash In Shoddy was a term that entered the language to describe uniforms sold to Union troops during the civil war. The uniforms literally disolved when they got wet. Profiteering is a better understood term that came out of the same era. Now it is part of the revolving door syndrome in Washington DC. Retire or resign from your politically appointed job or high military post and go to work for a government contractor to be sure you get contracts for work you may or may not do or do well but get because of old "relationships" Stinks doesn't it - no matter what party does it. It has been reason so many companies now have offices and divisions near Washington. Make me mad as hell.

POPSWho Is In Charge of War Profiteering and CIA? Has President Obama outsourced the use of Predator drones to Dick Cheney as a private contractor? He may as well have if this story turns out to be true? The head of the company belongs in jail, not getting fat off of US contracts to create new enemies of the US.

POPSOPEN LETTER TO CONGRESS: YOU ARE BEING DECEIVED ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING
The facts are: The sky is not falling; the Earth has been cooling for ten years, without help. The present cooling was NOT predicted by the alarmists' computer models, and has come as an embarrassment to them. The finest meteorologists in the world cannot predict the weather two weeks in advance, let alone the climate for the rest of the century. Can Al Gore? Can John Holdren? We are flooded with claims that the evidence is clear, that the debate is closed, that we must act immediately, etc, but in fact THERE IS NO SUCH EVIDENCE; IT DOESN'T EXIST. The proposed legislation would cripple the US economy, putting us at a disadvantage compared to our competitors. For such drastic action, it is only prudent to demand genuine proof that it is needed, not guesswork, and not false claims about the state of the science. DEMAND PROOF, NOT CONSENSUS Many alarmists are profiting from their activism. There are billions of dollars floating around for the taking, and being taken.

POPSU.S. House narrowly approves War Funding A rather amazing close vote! -- The vote by the House to approve the use of force against Iraq, in 2002, was more than two to one. It seems the bill also contained giving billions in credit to the IMF...do other countries mix up their legislation like this? Wouldn't it make more sense...wouldn't it actually be SANITY to vote on the content of one issue at a time? Especially when it's an issue of war? Of course, the IMF is probably some economic war profiteering and economic exploitation agency....so maybe they go together quite well. I mean...it's not like the IMF sponsored programs to feed the hungry or heal the sick, no?

POPSGore Lies To Congress About Personal Finances Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore left the White House seven years ago with less than $2 million in assets, including a Virginia home and the family farm in Tennessee. Now he’s making enough to put $35 million in hedge funds and other private partnerships. Gore invested the money with Capricorn Investment Group LLC, a Palo Alto, California, firm that selects the private funds for clients and invests in makers of environmentally friendly products, according to a Feb. 1 securities filing. Capricorn was founded by billionaire Jeffrey Skoll, former president of EBay Inc. and an executive producer of Gore’s Oscar-winning documentary film on global warming. http://greenhellblog.wordpress.com/2009/04/24/gore-lies-to-congress-about-personal-finances/

POPS Let Them Eat Dirt from the report. But the mainstream media did not report these conflicts and instead piled on the "global warming" and "carbon offset" bandwagons. The carbon offset market quickly exploded. In fact, $92 billion worth of offsets were estimated to change hands in 2008. But wanton profiteering appears to be the sole rationale for "carbon trading". Put simply, a wide range of respected scientists, environmentalists, researchers, agriculturalists, and activists believe that carbon offsets are a "scam", "fantasy", "fiction", "nonsense", "fraudulent" and worse. And they've been saying so since 2000, though to read the newspaper you wouldn't know it. The World Rainforest Movement, for example, investigated these bizarre financial ties and concluded that the IPCC report must "...be shelved due to their clear conflict of interest and a new report instigated which will be free of the taint of intellectual corruption."

POPSClimate Change - What You Can Do Great site--act now to help--It's a new era and we need to hit it running to recover and repair the damage of the Boooshies disastrous effect on the environment--they set us back 35 years in just 8 yrs and held us back from any progress, the fuckin' incompetent profiteering asses! (OK, I prolly didn't need that last phrase but they're still doing the damage as you read this--all to benefit industry profits)

POPS"(Didn't Know I Was) Unamerican" more lyrics: DIdn't know I hated my country For acknowledging the Truth This war is despicable profiteering At the expense of our youth And what I believe In Looks like heaven to me - All of humanity Living as community In relative harmony I know it's just a song But if the whole world sang along How much longer would it be this way?

POPSFour more years??? When you think about things like this, which nearly a decade of Republican rule in America has accomplished, it boggles the mind to think that this is actually a close race. Do people think that by voting back in the party that made things such an unholy mess, they're going to suddenly change their tune and fix everything they messed up? Let's not be ridiculous. The Republicans got what they wanted; 8 years of catering to the whims of unscrupulous profiteering companies, making the gap between the rich and the poor larger than it's ever been in America. Experience tells us it'll just be more of the same if they vote a senile, bad-tempered, hair-trigger old Republican into the office of President. So why aren't the polls showing a landslide for Obama? It boggles the mind!

POPSArms Trade Flows Freely According to US state department figures this week, Iraq has signed more than $3bn worth of arms deals in the past two years. Amnesty estimates that more than 1m small arms have been sold to Iraq since the 2003 invasion and the Iraqi government plans to procure more than 250,000 from the US and China. And the irresponsible war profiteering continues. Russia has agreed to supply 27 helicopters to Sudan, says Amnesty. Last year, Sudan listed its main arms suppliers as China, Russia, North Korea, Belarus, Indonesia, Iran and Malaysia. Some of these weapons are being used by Al Qaeda against U.S. troops. Is there no better reason to halt this illegal/immoral war?

POPSAmerica's Broken Infastructure "But the bailout won't solve the longer-term problem, which is threefold: The country doesn't invest enough in transportation infrastructure, it often spends money on the wrong things, and the current gas tax is no longer a viable funding source. Congress will have to address all of these issues when it crafts the next transportation bill." However, I do NOT agree with a vehicle mileage tax. What I'd like to see is corporate welfare and war profiteering abolished. That ought to free up some funds to invest in ourselves for a change.
