"One term" Obama's credibility SHOT!!!!
mountainpalm
by mountainpalm  Today 8:46 AM    1
Republicans and Democrats saw opportunities to create new sources of campaign contributions by privatizing as many military functions as possible. There are now a large number of private companies that have never made a dollar in the market, feeding instead at the public trough that drains taxpayers of dollars while loading Americans with debt service obligations.

Drowning in Debt
sahara
by sahara  11-7-2009
This is from Ross Perot's site (remember him?). One of the comments at the site that I thought was really good: "Our dollar is backed by faith, how much faith is left? Sheesh, they’re going to run out of paper, granted it’s all electronic transfer so maybe not. But man, I just don’t see how catastrophic inflation isn’t a forgone conclusion at this point."

Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums needs to explain tax mess or resign
Lexica
by Lexica  11-6-2009    1
More: The debt owed to this city by Dellums is incalculable and there is nothing but pride - or arrogance - standing between him and a full public disclosure of the facts surrounding his tax problem. Anything short of that constitutes unacceptable behavior by a public official and violates the public contract between an elected official and the constituency the office serves. I tried to reach the mayor for comment - but he declined to speak with me, his press secretary Paul Rose told me. No one has asked Dellums to disclose anything that any other politician in the same set of circumstances wouldn't be asked to explain. If he cannot provide a public explanation for a controversy that has become another national embarrassment for this city, it's difficult to see how continuing in his current position is going to be good for anyone - either him or Oakland's citizens.

Uncle Sam’s Collections Continue Their Steep Drop
merrie
by merrie  11-6-2009    1
It is ironic to say the least that Congress and the Obama administration are glorifying the idea of a “public option” that would ultimately lead to government-run health care while Treasury receipts continue to shrink. If the private health insurance market disappears, so will its taxes. To name just one example, Aetna’s recorded income tax expense on its financial statements for 2005-2008 (including state and local taxes) averaged roughly $900 million per year. Put the company’s health insurance segment out of business, and a large portion of those taxes would stop coming in, digging the country’s and various states’ debt holes that much deeper. The establishment press has paid very little attention to fiscal 2009’s drop of 19.5% in receipts from economic activity, so I expect similar treatment of October’s continuation of the trend. It would appear that they don’t want any unsettling news getting in the way of the statist agenda.

Obama’s Tripling of the National Debt in Pictures
merrie
by merrie  10-15-2009    4
In 2009, Washington will spend $30,958 per household "the highest level in American history" and under President Obama’s budget, the figure will rise above $33,000 by 2019. The public national debt" $5.8 trillion as of 2008" is projected to double by 2012 and nearly triple by 2019. Thus, America would accumulate more government debt under President Obama than under every President in American history from George Washington to George W. Bush combined. To put that $1 trillion dollars into perspective, have a look at what it looks like! http://izismile.com/2009/03/10/can_you_imagine_one_trillion_dollars_6_pics.html

The Forgotten Depression of 1920
Rustee
by Rustee  10-14-2009
The experience of 1920–21 reinforces the contention of genuine free-market economists that government intervention is a hindrance to economic recovery. It is not in spite of the absence of fiscal and monetary stimulus that the economy recovered from the 1920–21 depression. It is because those things were avoided that recovery came. The next time we are solemnly warned to recall the lessons of history lest our economy deteriorate still further, we ought to refer to this episode – and observe how hastily our interrogators try to change the subject.

We can look out for some other alternatives to solve our debt problems, but when you do not have other alternative, filing for bankruptcy is a best option. It is for the debtors to ensure that filing a bankruptcy is only safe but not a hindrance to their future.

High court says California can't raid transit funds
Lexica
by Lexica  10-2-2009
More: In their latest budget action, the governor and the Legislature approved a plan in July to close a $24 billion deficit, in part by siphoning $138 million from the public transit account to the Department of Developmental Services to pay for transporting developmentally disabled persons to regional centers. The July plan also counted on taking $254 million from public transit to repay transportation bond debt payments. In addition, the plan counted on shifting $622 million in transit funds to the general fund to pay for the previous year's debt service. The refusal of the Supreme Court to hear the appeal could push California's precariously balanced budget immediately into the red. Before losing this lawsuit, the state was already $200 million short.

For Obama, It's 'My Way or the Highway'

he complains: "We are the only advanced democracy on earth ... that allows such hardships for millions of its people. There are now more than 30 million American citizens who cannot get coverage. ... We spend 1 1/2 times more per person on health care than any other country, but we aren't any healthier for it." As to his claimed number of uninsured, e's temporarily removed the illegal aliens to lower the number from 47 million to 30 million. But he's still lying to say 30 million "cannot get coverage." Again, 18 million of these make more than $50,000 a year and can afford health care but choose not to purchase it. And millions more have access to government programs and don't access them, which, incidentally, doesn't bode well for Obama's mandated universal coverage plan. And if he has such bipartisan intentions, why did he spend a significant part of his speech demonizing his opponents and misrepresenting their motives?

And You Thought This Was All About Health Care… by Doug O'Brien

and to begin to collect on its political debt. Hot on the heels of the inauguration labor sought to cash its first big check and push the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) through Congress to eliminate the secret ballot for union organizing elections and allow strong arm tactics to “recruit” new members by putting a card in front of them and politely asking them to sign it. Poll numbers consistently showed strong opposition among the public to this idea and the administration quickly realized they couldn’t cover this check. But there are always new ways to achieve your objectives when the President is your loyal supplicant. The Service Employees International Union provided an estimated $160 million to the Obama campaign and related political advocacy groups and put thousands of its paid organizers on the streets to stump for Democrats. SEIU’s top recruiting priority is unionizing hundreds of thousands of health care workers across the nation. What better way to get .

Once they went down this path, they’re going all in here, and you can’t take that bet back.” Couldn’t agree more. The public option made it into too many versions in the House to snuff out without a backlash from the fanatical left. But the realization that we could be heading towards the disaster which is the UK’s and Canada’s crumbling ‘public options’ has woken up the electorate and they will have nothing of it. And it always comes back to how to pay for it, and that sets the target clearly on seniors and their rising ranks of health care consumers. Our naive President let this whole mess get out of control. He did not lead and establish a baseline, he let the wing nuts in Congress run amok, and he got the result he deserves. If anyone is serious about health care reform they will junk the current abominations from the left wing and produce something palatable to the nation. It may not save the Democrats from the voter backlash, but it sure will lessen the backlash

If Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security by themselves, required $41 trillion to be put aside in 2008 (and it wasn't of course) where will the money come for a 'public option'? These are UNFUNDED - meaning that the money comes directly out of your paychecks - not the general fund. But if fewer people are working, more people are retired and living longer than ever and programs such as Medicaid are used by illegals - where will the money come from? THIS is why we need to fight the current bills being shoved down our throats. THIS is why we can not be silent. THIS is why we need to get tax and spend and spend and spend liberals out of Washington.

Obamacare Myths and Facts
merrie

MYTH: Obamacare will make me wait weeks or months for necessary medical procedures. FACT: If you’re waiting that long, then obviously a qualified individual like Barney Frank or Nancy Pelosi decided the procedure wasn’t necessary. MYTH: Obamacare will be financed by cutting Medicare. FACT: Obamacare will be financed by eliminating Medicare recipients. MYTH: While many people will be forced onto the substandard public option, members of Congress will get a separate, much better plan. FACT: They will be on the same plan, but on a much much higher tier than will be made available to the hoi polloi. MYTH: Obamacare will be extremely costly and result in putting the country even further in debt. FACT: There is no confirmation of this, as the solar-powered calculator Obama tried to use to calculate the cost only allowed numbers up to the tens of billions.

DEBTOR NATION: Geithner Tells Congress to Increase the Debt--Again!
blueridge
by blueridge  8-10-2009    1
Geithner fronts from within the Treasury for the Fed banksters, who tell Congress, what to do. (Remember Geithner was the head of the New York Federal Reserve Bank before Treasury Secretary): "Congress has never failed to raise the debt limit when necessary," Mr. Geithner said. CONSIDER: If you are a debtor, you owe someone, and are under obligation to them. Now ask the question--"who is the U.S. government in debt to?" And there you will find, by logical consequence, the Masters of the government, to whom they must bow. This is non-partisan issue. Republicans in particular should see on the graph what Bush did , largely due to the "war on terrorism", which Obama continues, but now adding socialist government spending too.
