POPSPuppy socialisation group Melbourne Dogs, like children, have a critical learning period. Once past this age, socializing a dog can be much more difficult, so starting young is essential. The socialization period for a puppy ends at around 12 weeks of age. This doesn't mean that your job is done when they hit 12 weeks, but that the four weeks between bringing home your puppy and the end of their socialization period is the most critical time for them to be exposed to new things, noises, situations, and people.

POPSPuppy socialisation Melbourne Puppies that are not exposed to other dogs during their Puppy socialisation Melbourne period are more likely to develop aggressive or fearful responses to other dogs later, just as puppies that are not socialised to humans often develop behavioural problems. Be positive with your pup. Training should always be a positive experience. A new pup won't know all of your household rules or what is expected so, rather than use punishment, praise your pup when he/she does the right thing.

POPSPuppy socialisation Victoria Long coated dogs require daily grooming. If grooming is neglected, hair knots frequently form, leading to skin ailments. Regular trips to dog salons for washing and clipping the coat are expensive, especially if the dog must be tranquillised first because it resents grooming.

POPSF-18 Pilot Returns Home To Canine Friend From Iraqi War Zone Dennis met Nubs in the Al Anbar Province where the dog ran wild at an Iraqi Border Fort. When Nubs was a puppy, an Iraqi sliced off most of his ears in an attempt to make the dog tough and more alert. Another time, Nubs was stabbed with a screwdriver, and Dennis nursed him back to health. When Dennis' unit, the Border Transition Team, moved camp 70 miles away, Nubs somehow tracked them to their new location two days later. It was against the rules to keep the dog in camp, and friends jumped in to bring Nubs to San Diego. “Once he found us there, it seemed like this was supposed to have happened,” Dennis said Saturday. “After he walked all that distance, it seemed like he was supposed to end up in San Diego.” Dennis said his first outing with Nubs will be a jog on the beach. “It will consummate the whole journey, going from the sand of Iraq to the sand of San Diego.”
