POPSWho doesn't need more brain power! Does that mean that in near future we would be having doping tests before exams to filter out those students who have taken these drugs to take (illegal?) edge over those who have not?

POPSThe $900,000 Librarian Christie's auction in New York. It was here that a rare photograph by celebrated contemporary artist Cindy Sherman sold for over $900,000--three times Christie's asking price. In "Untitled Film Still #13," Sherman poses as a librarian, gazing beyond the shelves of books that surround her.

POPSOil price plunge hurting mullahs: Ahmadinejad suspends tax hike Iranian merchants are revolting. Very funny. I don't mean their offensive odor. I mean they are protesting the harsh economic times with oil prices slashed by 50% and hurting the economy which is geared to producing nukes. Now how about a full blockade on their ports? No more an act of war than Iran providing explosively formed penetrators to their Iraqi stooges that have been killing our boys in harm's way.

POPSOil & Gas Prices Plunge; Supply Unchanged High gas prices were driven by speculators in oil futures, low valuation of dollar, and war fears--NOT BECAUSE OF LIMITED SUPPLY. Making this point again since GOP propagandists were blaming high gas prices on lack of drilling and our "enemies at OPEC". Baloney! This should bring an end to that pack of lies. 1. This is investor driven, (read the analyst in the clip above). 2. The dollar is now regaining strength , which is used in international oil trade. (But the record $10.2 trillion national debt is made of fake printed money, which is inflationary, and still a huge problem). 3. War fears, which drive speculation also, have subsided as the prospect and drumbeat of war with Iran has diminished (for now). Until Israel foments war again. These are the three principle causes of high gas prices, now being reversed. Let the "drill" propagandists for supply as the cause now shut their mouths.

"They found that when otters were abundant, eagle prey consisted of predominantly kelp-forest fish and sea otter pups. When the otters were rare, however, the proportion of marine birds in the eagles' diet was much higher. "

POPSThe Allergic Reaction An allergic reaction is an abnormal immune system response to things that are normally harmless to most people. When one is allergic to something, the immune system incorrectly identifies this substance as harmful to one's body. (Substances which cause allergic reactions, such as certain foods, medicines, plant pollen, or dust, are called allergens.) In an attempt to protect the body, the immune system produces immunoglobulin E antibodies. When the IgE antibodies make contact with the allergens, they attach onto it and release chemicals such as histamine into the bloodstream. The histamine causes such allergic reactions as a runny nose, tearing eyes, sore throat, diarrhea, skin rashes, or difficulty breathing and swelling.

POPSFreakiest (Lab) Animals The last one is Humanzee: It reads "Ok, so this one doesn't actually exist." But could have... The one I find most intriguing is The spider/goats: A private biotechnology company in Canada has managed to breed goats whose milk contains spider silk, the same things the eight-legged insects use to make webs and considered one of the strongest fibers occurring in nature. The silk is compatible with the human body and can be used to repair tissues and create replacement ligaments. No word on whether the goats are able to climb buildings or rescue damsels-in-distress. About the smart mice: Scientists managed to implant a few of the little rodents with human brain cells amounting to about one percent of their total grey matter. The same group has plans to produce mice with one hundred percent human brain cells, which they have permission to do unless the mice start exhibiting human traits. What, like banding together to escape?

POPSPolice raid "baby farm" in Nigeria Unmarried mothers face exclusion from society, our correspondent says. Abortion is illegal except in rare cases, and illegally obtained abortions are very dangerous. In May, a Nigerian woman was jailed in the UK for trying to smuggle a baby into the country in order to get on the list for a council flat. Police have not been able to trace the child's real parents.

POPSIs The Film 'An American Carol' Being Sabotaged At The Box Office? Obviously, this type of "error" sometimes requires collusion between employees--a way of marking the ticket so that you are sent to the correct theater, even though you've been sold the wrong ticket. Before anyone jumps to conclusions and chalks this up to politics, the fact is this is a fairly rare but not unheard of occurrence. There have been payola scandals in the past and it usually has more to do with either juicing the numbers for a big budget release or, more prosaically, lazy or incompetent ticket sellers at the theaters. Would I put it past Hollywood to collude with theater owners to depress sales of AAC? No, but in this case I think it best to use Occam's Razor - everything being equal, the simplest and least complicated answer is probably the right one. “Please email us a picture of your ticket stub to: fraud@americancarol.com
