POPSSarah Palin - Shame on You There actually was a time when I was undecided. Putting Palin on the ticket pushed me over the edge. After this I am glad I will not support McCain. He has sold his soul for his shot at the Presidency.

POPS"Caging" Voters
(cont.)In addition, Michigan law allows people vote at their old precinct if they lost their home within sixty days of the election. Bauer told the Wall Street Journal that the Michigan suit against the Republicans was meant to send a message to Democrats around the country to be on guard against voter-supression tactics. "This can't be just an isolated event," he said. Republicans use these tactics "where they expect the vote to go to the other side. They're not caging in Beverly Hills. By filing the suit, we are assuring people they can be allowed to vote." Carol Guzman, director of ACORN's Financial Justice Center, said foreclosure lists would be unreliable indicators of who had been forced to leave their homes. Because state law allows a redemption period of up to a year after a foreclosed home has been sold, "you could still legitimately and legally be in your home and be challenged," she told the Lansing State Journal. But she believed that the GOP was trying to intimidate

POPS Drilling Issue Could Kill Democrats' Senate Hopes The key issue of this Senate race is not “you”: It’s support for drilling that could swing this key Senate race, and not in the direction that the politically correct energy barometer might have it. “I’ve always said we have to have responsible drilling,” Rep. Mark Udall, who has a strong environmentalist House record that has included votes against drilling and refinery expansion, said. There will be continued debate over where Colorado fits in oil and gas exploration, even amid the hue and cry for alternative fuels. And there will — among the glut of Udall/Schaffer commercials accusing each other of everything but ritual animal sacrifice — be fireworks as the issue promises to shape a critical Senate race in a presidential swing state. There will, as Daniel Plainview said, be blood.

POPSObama’s Speech: Consider These Goalposts Moved! For the men and women of Reverend Wright’s generation, the memories of humiliation and doubt and fear have not gone away; nor has the anger and the bitterness of those years. But the anger is real; it is powerful; and to simply wish it away, to condemn it without understanding its roots, only serves to widen the chasm of misunderstanding that exists between the races. Really? How about understanding its roots but not condemning it? That’s what Obama did for 20 years, implicitly lending himself to the cause of racial division — he finally admits early in the speech that he heard “remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church,” although these appear to be of a lesser grade somehow than the stuff that’s been airing on Fox — and only now with the presidency at stake has he awakened to the perniciousness of silence. POPSHis Biggest Hurdle "I've gone through a particular kind of hell," he says, thinking back, shaking his head. "But my story is proof that after the darkness there is a dawn, that there is redemption from our darkest moments."

POPSClips from The Shawshank Redemption When this movie was released I was preparing for my first Med cruise in the Navy. Fear ruled my every thought. The idea of journeying to foreign lands by sea didn't agree with my sense of security. While watching Shawshank I learned that everything we do (each experience) has a reason even though we feel it does not fit into our life design. I always come back to this thought: Before I came on this earth to experience my life, I signed a contract agreeing to everything that I would experience, seen or unseen. When I signed up for the Navy, I did just that. Now looking back on the Med cruise I would not have it any other way. The only regret I have concerns my lack of attention to details and not documenting the experience through photographs or journals. Relying on my memories is really not an accurate means of collecting facts.

POPSAliens need Christ’s redemption, too With human nature as it can be, there will be a bloody war between the different religions as to who should be the ones to convert - these people who have a great enough understanding of science to be able to travel to Earth. To meet them we send the descendants of people unable to understand their existance without a bogey man.

POPSScience and technology will not redeem mankind, Pope insists "In order, then, to 'educate for hope' - as we propose in this congress and during the coming pastoral year - it is necessary, in the first place, to open our hearts, our intellects and all our lives to God, in order to be His credible witnesses among our fellow man," the Pope said.

POPSTop 10 Pre-Death Monologues in Film The clip has the links to videos of the 10 monologues The greatest challenge an actor can face, is the memorable death scene. The best can provoke deep reflection on mortality, and existence on a personal level. There's one thing that I've thought was 'in character' In a Star Trek Movie Generations. Captain Kirk (William Shatner) died twice. We 'knew' he was dead twice. He only got one monologue. (It's not on the list. ) I don't know if 10 videos links in a clip is too many, but I thought 'You only live once' Sometimes Death is just a setback. A 'speed hump' in the smooth flow of eternity. Perhaps God's way of telling us we should slow down a bit.
