POPSLeftist Economic Nonsense It was astonishing to hear Maxine Waters openly discuss nationalizing the oil industry. She was talking to the heads of America’s oil companies, and she was a little worked up, so it was also possible to say that it was just one person, speaking impulsively in a moment of anger, and easily dismissed. What left most conservatives and libertarians staring in slack jawed wonder was when Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) stood before the press and advocated nationalizing the oil refineries. While most have known about the socialist beliefs of the left, what surprised them was the matter of fact manner in which they were suggesting socialist controls over the oil industry. Finally, the socialist trifecta was complete with Obama supporter Malai Lazu, of the non-profit group Oil Change International calling for “price controls” on Neal Cavuto’s “Your World.” As she simply put it, “When Congress can set prices, Congress can set prices.”

POPSEnvironmentalists Hold On Congress
What's the political response to our energy problems? It's more congressional and White House kowtowing to environmentalists, farmers and multi-billion dollar corporations such as Archer Daniels Midland. Their “solution," rather than to solve our oil supply problem by permitting drilling for the billions upon billions of barrels of oil beneath the surface of our country, is to enact the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 that mandates that oil companies increase the amount of ethanol mixed with gasoline. Anyone with an ounce of brains would have realized that diverting crops from food to fuel use would raise the prices of corn-fed livestock, such as pork, beef, chicken and dairy products, and products made from corn, such as cereals. Ethanol production has led to increases in other grain prices, such as soybean and wheat. Since the U.S. is the world's largest grain producer and exporter, higher grain prices have had a huge impact on food prices worldwide.

POPSMagical Thinking vs. Reality amount to $1.05 to $1.38 per gallon, or 42 to 55 percent of ethanol's wholesale market price. Ethanol does not reduce gasoline prices. If you lived in urban areas that used reformulated gasoline last summer -- that's the environmentally "clean" gasoline required for areas with air pollution problems -- you might have paid up to 60 cents a gallon more for gasoline. That's because the federal government required oil refineries to use 4 billion gallons of ethanol in 2006, regardless of price, and gas pump prices last summer reflected the fact that ethanol was twice as expensive as conventional gas in wholesale markets, and far more costly to deliver. The truth is that if ethanol has commercial merit, it doesn't need the subsidy. And if it doesn't, no amount of subsidy will bestow it.

POPSFREE Email: No More Excuses For High Energy Prices! There's just one problem: Democrats are refusing to allow the bill out of committee, so the full House of Representatives can vote on it! Thankfully, Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI) has filed a "discharge petition" to get H.R. 3089 OUT of committee and force a vote on it. That petition already has 153 names on it -- but it requires 218 signatures to force that vote... So WE need to get 65 more Congressmen to SIGN that petition, NOW!

POPSA radical new idea could save the world’s ecosystems. Tickell proposes setting a global limit for carbon pollution then selling permits to pollute to companies extracting or refining fossil fuels. This has the advantage of regulating a few thousand corporations - running oil refineries, coal washeries, gas pipelines and cement and fertiliser works for example - rather than a few billion citizens.
2
POPSGroup asks God (and Saudi) to help with gas prices These idiots don't realize the root of the problem is not supply, it's our own choke point in not being able to refine enough in this country. And it all can be laid at the feet of liberals who have prevented the construction of new refineries and new exploration offshore and in ANWR.

POPSDemand The U.S. House Censure Rep. Delahunt NOW! Also, more action alerts include: Tell YOUR Rep. to Co-Sponsor the "Affordable Gas Price Act" As usual, the government doesn't have a solution to the problem -- the government IS the problem! House bill H.R. 2415, short-titled the "Affordable Gas Price Act," was introduced on May 21, 2007. The official title of the bill states its purpose: "To reduce the price of gasoline by allowing for offshore drilling, eliminating Federal obstacles to constructing refineries and providing incentives for investment in refineries, suspending Federal fuel taxes when gasoline prices reach a benchmark amount, and promoting free trade." So for over a year now, Congress has had available to them legislation that reduces gas prices by reforming government polices that artificially inflate the price of gas. And not one of them has even had the guts to sign on as a co-sponsor.

POPSTravel Alberta To See These Unique Attractions! When you are making your vacation plans, check out what Alberta has to offer: "Alberta offers a rare treat for the seasoned globetrotter who's craving something new. A seemingly endless expanse of bitumen-laden sands — coupled with the powerful scent of oil from refineries wafting through the hazy air — makes Northern Alberta a truly one-of-a-kind destination. " "some of the unique attractions that await travelers to Alberta: Black sand beaches, toxic lakes and clearcut forests. Until now, this kind of vacation destination was merely the stuff of science fiction; but now, it can be experienced first-hand." Watch the video!

POPSNow they say global warming affects US security Now the loony left is trying to appeal to conservatives with a security theme. Never mind that flood have been wiping out people since Noah built his ark. The ancient world is full of examples of thriving cities having been abandoned due to climate change - and this long before any industrialization or greenhouse gasses. Maybe the dinosaurs went extinct due to their all pervasive flatulence? I think this global warming hype is more of the same - liberal oral flatulence.

POPSThe Failed Environmentalists' Bans The editorial, "How to cut foreign oil imports" by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune is a masterful piece of propaganda straight from Barack Obama's talking points. How about we continue to do what the environmentalists want, even though it hurts us economically, but also do the following: What if we lift the ban on drilling for oil in ANWR, the Outer Continental Shelf and the Gulf of Mexico? What if we explore and drill for our own oil at a greater pace? What if we begin mining the trillions of gallons of liquid oil contained in the shale in the Bakken Formation? What if we build new refineries to produce more gasoline? If we did these things we would increase supply! When you increase supply the price comes down. We would stop sending our money overseas and create jobs and wealth here in America rather than in Saudi Arabia and Iran. We would stop being held hostage to the whims of OPEC. We would stop supporting Communist regimes like that of Hugo Chavez.

POPSharassment in the UK is off the charts -- worse than in former Soviet states. As a photographer myself, this absolutely enrages me. Nobody ever harasses people with cheap digital cameras, but if you have an SLR you are suddenly a terrorist. I was harassed a few years ago by the police for taking pictures on public property. It was in Pt. Arthur, Texas near my home town. I was taking pictures of a sunset behind the refineries from across a lake, too far away for any sensible person to confuse it with "surveillance." The cop who harassed us told us that what we were doing wasn't illegal but if we kept it up he would haul us in for "disturbing the peace" and "criminal mischief", the latter being almost impossible to contest. I am seriously afraid these days to practice my beloved hobby and have found myself carrying my camera less and less. Screw the terrorists! It's the police that are taking away my liberties, not foreigners.

POPSBush Calls Out the Dems Next was ANWR, which can be exploited with "virtually no impact on the land or local wildlife." Finally, refining capacity: It has been 30 years since a new refinery was built in our Nation, and lawsuits and red tape have made it extremely costly to expand or modify existing refineries. The result is that America now imports millions of barrels of fully refined gasoline from abroad. This imposes needless costs on American families and drivers. It deprives American workers of good jobs. Finally, Bush laid the problem once again at the Dems' door: I know Democratic leaders have opposed some of these policies in the past. Now that their opposition has helped drive gas prices to record levels, I ask them to reconsider their positions. If congressional leaders leave for the Fourth of July recess without taking action, they will need to explain why $4-a-gallon gasoline is not enough incentive for them to act. Excellent stuff. We need to do this every single day.

POPSClimate Change? What Climate Change? "Alas, it is not to be; instead, the instructions from the Wall Street Journal are Drill! Drill! Drill! and George Bush, perhaps with an eye towards the fuel riots going on around the world, jumps and proposes the new Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: 1) drilling offshore, 2) drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, 3) adding refineries, and 4) extracting oil from shale, which makes the Alberta Tar Sands look environmentally benign."

POPSI'm Speakless . . . These clown are nuckin' futs. They can't run Social Security, Medicare is a mess. And now they think they can run an oil business. Leave no incumbent in office.

POPSPETITION: To Secure Unrestricted Reliable Energy Amends the Internal Revenue Code to: (1) allow the issuance of tax exempt facility bonds for the financing of domestic use oil refinery facilities; (2) extend through 2018 the tax credit for producing electricity from wind facilities; and (3) allow tax credits for the production of electricity from nuclear energy, natural gas production, and carbon dioxide tertiary injectant processes. Requires the President to designate at least 10 sites for oil or natural gas refineries on federal lands and make such sites available to the private sector for construction of refineries.

POPSOMG God, help us Oil in the ground, gas prices in the sky and what is the Democrats response. Screw you! No drilling and give us your private property. This is socialism plain and simple.

POPSThank You, Big Oil Ms. Clinton says, "We need a president who's a fighter, who will take on the oil companies." What we need is a president who will take on the US Congress and get them to stop strangling both the American public and energy companies with taxes and regulations; a president who will call congressional leaders of both parties on the carpet, publicly expose their hypocrisy, and demand that they take immediate action to repeal the smothering burdens they have shackled all of us with and which have caused skyrocketing oil prices. So the next time you feel like blaming the oil companies for the price of gas, why don't you call your congressman instead; I suggest that you get down on your knees and thank God for the brilliant minds of oil company engineers, geologists, chemists, and executives who - in spite of the US Congress - have the creativity and courage to provide the energy that keeps all of us alive and enjoying our modern way of life.

POPSNewsweek Interview: Craig Venter's CO2-Eating Miracle Bacterium "Venter hopes his bugs will supplant the need for carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) technologies by making CO2 a commodity, instead of a byproduct to be disposed of. According to Venter, large, bacteria-processing fermenters, similar to those used to make beer and wine, would replace traditional refineries. He expects the first generation of his engineered bacteria to be commercially available within the next year or two years. He made it a point to stress that he and his colleagues were thinking "in terms of years, not decades."

POPS"Splash And Dash" Biofuels Scam: Costs Americans Millions
and laying off staff because they cannot compete with cheap American imports. The European Biodiesel Board, an industry association, has submitted a report to Brussels outlining the damage being done to the domestic sector by American imports and calling for trade sanctions against the US in retaliation. The commission is considering the board's report and drawing up "sustainability criteria" to ensure that biofuels are not - as some critics claim - leading to deforestation and a rise in the price of food as farmers convert land for energy crops. Doug Ward, a director of the Argent Energy biodiesel company and UK representative on the board, said he was pleased that MEPs were raising questions about splash and dash. McAvan said she would be seeking reassurances that the sustainability criteria as proposed by the commission would solve the problem of splash and dash and make it illegal to sell biofuels that have been involved in this practice on the European market.

POPS"Greens" Thwart Gasoline Production
So even though ConocoPhillips is aiding and abetting the NRDC to achieve the Green dream of absolute government control over the U.S. energy supply, the enviros are still in take-no-prisoners mode, refusing to allow the expansion of a single refinery. Imagine what the rest of us can expect from the Greens. Green groups are working through the state attorney general’s office to block the $800 million upgrade of the Chevron refinery in the city of Richmond, Ca. California attorney general, climate crusader Jerry Brown claims that the upgrade will produce an additional 900,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year. But Chevron says that the upgrade will actually reduce GHG emissions by 220,000 tons. It’s hard to know whose figure is closer to the truth, but it’s worth noting that false statements made by Chevron are prosecutable under the federal and California state law, while Jerry Brown and the activists can say pretty much whatever they want without legal accountability

POPSChina's Drilling for Oil in America's Backyard... Apparently China recognizes a rich source when they find one. Can't you just see that *straw* under our coastal floor just sippin' away? I wouldn't be surprised if we don't end up buying it back with a nice profit for them.

POPSTell Congress: No More Pain At The Pump Congress IS THE Problem, not the oil companies Where's the accountability and when is Congress going to stop blaming everyone else. They are the culprits. Drill here, drill now because your red buddies, the Cubans and Chinese are already doing it in our front yard off the Florida Keys!

POPSCould this be the reason for higher gas prices? If this is actually the true voting record of these ELECTED officials who are supposed to be doing the peoples work then I have to wonder how many people of the governed actually support the majority opposing views?
