Honeytrap Lies and Woman Spies
chedare
by chedare  Today 3:07 PM
As in most other proffesions women have been short changed in the intelligence field but it is a tawdy business, usually an off shoot of the male-ego-fuelled aggression and imperialism. Nowadays the global intelligence establishment remains the hand maiden of the military-industrial complexs. They drain the life blood of every major nation and many lesser ones. The mission impossible for women, would do better, to work on eliminating global conflicts @ the conditions that generate them. Rosie White is a lecturer in English at Northumbia Uni @ her book on subject is "Violent Femmes:Women Spies in Popular Culture" (2008)

Muslim Cleric Says Christian Women Should Wear Veils
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  Today 7:11 AM    3
The Anglican Bishop of South Sydney, Robert Forsyth, challenged Sheik Hilali’s comments about the veil being “mandated” in the Bible, saying they were misleading. Misleading? That's the whole idea of organised religion, isn't it? . Anyway, this is the closest they are ever gonna get ME to a veil, that's for sure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTGJVeTy43k

Litvinenko Murder Suspect Lugovoy Makes Peace Offer
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  Yesterday 7:45 PM
“What was beneficial for Russia out of this situation? Russia didn’t gain anything from it,” he insisted. The Director of Public Prosecutions has ruled that Scotland Yard had sufficient evidence to charge Mr Lugovoy with murder. The pair are clearly frustrated at their position. Mr Lugovoy cannot travel outside Russia for fear of arrest; Mr Kovtun’s status remains uncertain because of the German inquiry.

But you may not hear this in the MSM, which is busy mocking Lieberman's slap on the wrist, and chanting the right's mantra: ( "Omm . . . it's a center-right country - Kristol said so - Omm .") Truth is, change is happening. I am soooo glad to see the Blue Dogs lose a big one.

Have You Heard Of Rene Margritte? No? Too Bad!
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  Yesterday 8:12 AM    2
I haven't (a cloistered life I've led). That is until this morning, when Google used one of his surrealist portraits as their logo to celebrate his birthday. This artist came upon Earth with little fanfare and left in the same manner. He did impact his being through his art and I am glad I stumbled or should I say Googled across the mark he left behind. Excerpted from his bio at: http://www.brain-juice.com/cgi-bin/show_bio.cgi?p_id=22 Magritte died - 8/15/67 - He lived humbly. He didn’t draw much attention to himself - Magritte managed to leave an artistic legacy of transforming the ordinary into the fantastic. Historians attribute Magritte's art to his desire to oppose and combat the triviality of everyday life, others say his work goes beyond escapism and serves to reveal a murkier and complex aspect of the human condition. - it is certain that Magritte's work is - hauntingly beautiful and deeply provocative. Let's Ride!

"But, by the second class, they usually show up in jeans." Why the women really come, though, might be less obvious. One reason seems to be to improve their language skills by speaking Danish with the cycling instructors and other learners. "They want to meet people," Andresen says. Andresen also points out that the immigrant and refugee experiences can also be particularly isolating for these women, which can lead to depression. "A lot of them want to do something to help them meet other people," she says. "When you give these women some confidence and comfort, then they discuss personal things as well," says Andresen. "I guess that's where it becomes more meaningful." Such things have even led to groups of the women viewing romantic movies together that, Andresen says, "they wouldn't see with their men or if men were there." The bonding that takes place at the Red Cross centers remains even after new skills have been learned.

What Near Death Research Reveals About the Purpose of Life

A new study tests a different theory: that consciousness is not confined to the brain, and the mind can continue to exist even when the brain ceases to function. Recent medical studies in cardiac arrest patients have indicated…that the mind and consciousness may be what remains of us after death.

Hunger on The Increase in the USA
DanaGarrett
by DanaGarrett  11-18-2008
One of the biggest myths about the USA is that it's a land of plenty enjoyed by all. But last year 36 million Americans went hungry without access to food. Many of them were children. Yet during the last 7 years the wealthiest among us knew enormous economic growth. Those who thought that the Lord of the manor was disposed to throw the remains of the meal to the serfs were kidding themselves. When possible they will consume every last morsel. Trickle down economics is a mere talking point when in fact the spigot is mostly turned off.

Election Results Spur Racism
pkronfield
by pkronfield  11-16-2008    3
These things are indeed idiotic. But readers miss the point Racism has existed in open view long before the election. Every time I go in a post office and find 100% blacks working there, it's racism. When 98% of the blacks vote for Obama, it's racism. When OJ Simpson's jury finds the murderer not guilty it's racism. When employers are forced to hire a certain percentage of blacks, regardless of their abilities, it's racism. When I criticize a radical president elect who espouses Marxist ideas and am denounced as a racist, it's racism. Indeed the race problem America has resides in blacks. They are our biggest racists. So now we elect a racist president whose electorate is racist and whose policies are steeped in racism.
