POPSOur choices go to the core of who we are - Accounting for Taste "We consume books, movies, music, and visual art primarily to fulfill the internal emotional needs that are fundamental to our personalities. But we also make choices about art based on a desire to carve out identities for ourselves—to articulate the stories of our lives. By the same token, we look for those stories in others"

POPS$2.5 billion bonuses for bankrupt Lehman employees THis is obscene. Company that goes bankrupt should pay off debts to investors first before "bonuses". This is another indication of the greed that has taken over the investment and banking system. Contemplate what China does with their corrupt greedy executives.....

POPSFarmers group objects to livestock tagging on religious grounds The suit (.pdf) mentions various verses from the Book of Revelation. "He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." Revelation 13:16-17

POPSGet Back to Jesus Somewhat of a follow up to the clips made from yesterday's blog. It is so easy to get sucked into planting a church and the "nuts and bolts" of what it takes and forget that we are making disciples. It actually takes longer to make disciples than it does to start a church. Jesus spent 3 years with his disciples. It took a betrayal, deserting, misunderstanding and the Holy Spirit to come to start the church. These ideas are what I'm trying to remind myself daily.

POPSUS Trained Georgia Commandos that Attacked S. Ossetia "the assault on South Ossetia" by Georgia, this Financial Times article states. The media is beginning to come closer to the truth. But then there is the curious disclaimer that "there is no evidence the contractors...or Pentagon knew" they would be used in an attack on S. Ossetia. What! Then what were they training them for? There is no evidence the Financial Times looked for any evidence either. Please try and convince us that no one in the Pentagon (filled with neocons like Feith, and neocon contractors like James Woolsey of Booz Allen Hamilton with access to the Pentagon) knew that Georgia would attack--when the U.S. is its full ally! Meanwhile Putin: The US orchestrated the war on South Ossetia.

POPS Sally Quinn Does Complete U-turn on Sarah Palin Kudos to Sally Quinn for recognizing that she was wrong about Sarah Palin. So will other media types currently sneering at Palin, such as Campbell Brown, also experience a similar revelation? I'm not holding my breath but after Sally Quinn's dramatic turnaround I guess anything is possible. —P.J. Gladnick is a freelance writer and creator of the DUmmie FUnnies blog.

POPSAnd the Beast Shall Eat Itself A hot microphone, a revelation of dishonesty, and the violation of a long-held gentleman's agreement destroyed the credibility of the Wall Street Journal's Peggy Noonan today, and may have changed the complexion of the American news media forever. Noonan revealed herself a hypocrite, and MSNBC, a network that has abandoned all illusions of objective journalism in favor of naked advocacy for Barack Obama and an exclusive allegiance to partisan politics of the far left wing of the Democratic Party, shattered a common courtesy between journalists, in order to tear another journalist down for a minor temporary gain. All bets are off now, all gentleman's agreements dead.

POPSPolitics Doesn't Get Any Dirtier This week marks the second time children have been targeted by those who don't like John McCain. And before his supporters on the political right puff up in indignation over what happened to the Palins, they should remember what the right did to McCain in 2000. The victim was his daughter Bridget, found by Cindy McCain at Mother Teresa's orphanage in Bangladesh, brought to the U.S. for medical treatment and adopted. In the South Carolina primary, anonymous McCain opponents used a telephone "push poll" across the state, asking voters what they thought of McCain's "illegitimate" black child. McCain lost South Carolina, and the Republican nomination.

POPSGOP Plays the Gender Card Before you say this is just Laura Bush speaking for Laura Bush, consider this: I am appalled by the Obama campaign's attempts to belittle Governor Sarah Palin's experience. The facts are that Sarah Palin has made more executive decisions as a Mayor and Governor than Barack Obama has made in his life. Because of Hillary Clinton's historic run for the Presidency and the treatment she received, American women are more highly tuned than ever to recognize and decry sexism in all its forms. They will not tolerate sexist treatment of Governor Palin. - HP's former CEO Carly Fiorina and RNC fundraiser, quoted in RNC press release The McCain camp, who wanted everyone to freak out when Obama supposedly "played the race card," are now claiming that any criticism of Sarah Palin is sexist. The Republican Party; never one to shy away from blatant hypocrisy.
