Mohir
by Mohir  7-22-2008    3
Furthermore, electric characterization of devices showed that the hybrid FETs’ performance outpace those of amorphous silicon TFTs, and rival with the actual state of the art of oxide thin film transistors. These results suggest promising new disposable electronics devices, like paper displays, smart labels, smart packaging, bio-applications, RFID tags, among others. te

U.S. School District to Begin Microchipping Students
rustajb
by rustajb  6-19-2008
Orwell was clearly an optimist. he never conceived that the powers that be would track people's movements via microchip. This is the most insidious thing we as a society can succumb to. The arguments towards the positives on this in no way outweigh the evil this can unleash. The next step after this is to make us cashless, our credit tied to the chip embeded within us. Just like the swipe pass keys for toll roads and gas pumps we currently use. But what if those in control decide to turn off your chip, what do you do then, what recourse do you have? Those voting in favor of these RFID initiatives are either basing their decisions on knee-jerk reactions which in turn are based on emotional pandering by it's proponents or are just plain ignorant and short-sighted. It would come to blows should anyone dare suggest I "chip" my son. Putting these things in pets, airline travel tags, etc. is just a way to get use used to the concept and make it seem banal when the time comes to chip is all.

Real Snail Mail
queerty
by queerty  6-17-2008
Each snail is fitted with a tiny capsule which holds a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip. RFID allows objects to communicate over short distances. Users of the service send a message via the Real Snail Mail website which is routed to the tank at the speed of light to await collection by a snail "agent". As the three snails slowly amble around the tank, they occasionally come into range of an electronic reader, which attaches the e-mail message to the RFID chip. The electronic messages are then physically carried around the tank by the snails until one of the gastropods passes close to a second reader. It is then forwarded over the net in the usual way. "It could be quite frustrating for some people," Vicky Isley, one of the artists told BBC News. "It's completely subverting that normal system." http://www.boredomresearch.net/rsm/

mooner-one
by mooner-one  1-17-2008    1
..... the more I see the harder it becomes to call myself a citizen of this country. We've lost our character, our Constitution and are now just a blink away from losing my freedom to the freaks that control our very destiny. I wrote a song a few years back called "I',m Done Now" but never recorded it save a cheapo cassette tape. I think it may just be time to get that one and a few more like it out there before they come after me.
