POPSRob Kall's Op Ed News--Damn good info See site for this and other good progressive stuff: By Rob Kall McCain's Offshore Drilling Approach Is Bad For America; We Need A Better, Smarter Approach Offshore drilling is a ruse to get votes-- a ruse that sells out America by leading us down the wrong path. The old saying says that only a crazy person keeps digging to get out of a hole. Well, continuing to drill for oil, as the primary solution to our energy problem is that kind of crazy. Excessive, unnecessary energy use, as we have become accustomed to, is a dangerous threat to our national security.

POPSGreetings from "the angry left" Great column...Read all for the full bene's. Speaking about Bush's jingoistic label... So then, trust me when I say, try as they might, "the angry left" won't stick. As anyone with the slightest sense of history and poetic justice knows, such a jab is merely the final, desperate wailings of the bankrupt, the shameful, and the doomed.

POPSSarah Palin's Punch lines full of hot air and lies Quote: "That qualifies her to have her hand on the tiller of American foreign policy in the event that, God forbid, something happens to John McCain? To suggest that is frightening. Really – what if something happens to John McCain. What relevant experience does Sarah Palin have, to be able to sit across the conference table, with negotiators, with the prime ministers and presidents of this world?" the congresswoman said. "As the McCain campaign constantly reminds us, this is a dangerous world."

POPSWrong Woman; Wrong Message Her down-home, divisive and deceptive speech did nothing to cosmeticize a Republican convention that has more than twice as many male delegates as female, a presidential candidate who is owned and operated by the right wing and a platform that opposes pretty much everything Clinton's candidacy stood for -- and that Barack Obama's still does. I get no pleasure from imagining her in the spotlight on national and foreign policy issues about which she has zero background, with one month to learn to compete with Sen. Joe Biden's 37 years' experience. When asked last month about the vice presidency, she said, "I still can't answer that question until someone answers for me: What is it exactly that the VP does every day?" When asked about Iraq, she said, "I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq."

POPSPalin Has Chosen to Exploit Her Own Daughter's Pregnancy I am disgusted by the way Governor Palin has thrown her 17-year-old pregnant daughter under the bus for political gain. She is exploiting her daughter's misfortune in order to use her to make her anti-abortion point to the extreme right-wing of the Republican party. This woman should be removed from the ticket for abusing her child in this manner.

POPSIs the McCain-Palin Campaign Violating Operational Security?
And while not illegal, if she really did believe that's when he's deploying to Iraq, then she didn't know enough to keep quiet about that to keep from violating OPSEC - something a potential Commander in Chief should know. But, more disturbing, and definitely in violation of security, are an explosion of stories that say specifically where in Iraq Track is deploying to, which have been dutifully eaten up by right wing websites, and reprinted. I will not reprint it here, because I would only be compounding the issue. But, unfortunately, it is very easy to find on the web at this point. It is simply impossible that any reporter could figure this out on their own. Just by knowing Track's name and the date he is heading to Kuwait, one could not figure out specifically where Track and his company would be going in Iraq. There's a reason it's impossible to figure that out - because the military doesn't want that information out there.

POPSMcCain's must .... If you need to go to the middle why would you pick a right wing nut case to be your VP? That's a move to solidify your base. Besides she give the Dems so much ammo to paint McCain as an extremist...Wow...

POPSOff Limits? I Think Not Ordinarily a situiation such as the pregnancy of Sarah Palin's daughter would be off-limits but the Republican party has been the first to put it front and center as a political tool. The Holier than Anyone Right has used this to showcase how "special" their darling VP hopeful really is and the point has driven home at the RNC yesterday. That and the supposed non-political issue of McCain's POW status. Have the voters become so inured to the Republican machine that they are incapable of seeing through their deceptions and lies?

POPSAn Alaskan's assessment of Palin "I don't know" is the operative here. My thinking is that we don't really know how she'll pan out in the campaign. She may do well tonight and in the debate and win some votes. Or she may bomb. I think she'll do ok, but in the end her radical positions like no birth control even for married couples will be her undoing with a broad swath of the electorate. She'll talk middle but she's a George Bush in a skirt, a radical right wing ideologue.

POPSMcCain's Desperate Move While it may be that all VP picks are politically motivated, the good choices usually are those that besides being politically advantageous are also beneficial to the nation. After the nation discovers who Sarah Palin is and what she believes I think that McCain will realize what a colossal blunder he has made. Or maybe not??

POPS Fowler Apologizes For GOP/Gustav Joke........ ..........If that's what you want to call it…...... I have to say that I am a free speech advocate and would not suggest that people should be prohibited from taping such conversations. But nevertheless it seems to be a bit extreme to tape a private conversation like that. — Donald Fowler to ABC News It would again appear that we have a big mouth more sorry he was caught using it, than being sorry to those whom may have been hurt by his words.

POPSRon Paul is a Prick This illustrates something I've been trying to get more people on the left to realize -- Ron Paul is freakin' Newt Gingrich. He only looks good in comparison to Bush. Compared to just about any Democrat, he's still a right wing, reaganite nut.

POPSMovement Conservatism: The G.O.P. - Selling Social Policy as a Commodity indifference to learning from experience and adjusting accordingly is a central characteristic of movement conservatism. Examples: Resistance to forming a 9/11 commission (Bush administration) Resistance to learning what went wrong during Hurricane Katrina ( John McCain); The term Flip-Flopping, (one can never form a new opinion or idea based upon new experience or information;

POPSToo Far Right! Your father raped you? Too bad. Global warming an issue? Poppycock. Teach creationism in science class? Sure, let the students decide. Ultra right wing religious fanatics are salivating all over themselves over McSame's choice. A Hillary replacement? Ha! Going to draw Hillary supporters away from Obama? In a pig's eye. Republicans must believe that women voters are all stupid idiots. This is McCain's judgment in action!

POPSThe Facts - Why have they become obsolete?
Why doesn't anyone want to believe the facts anymore? Has our America slid into such a La La Land that mendacities are more plausible than hard facts? It's enough to make you cry UNCLE. If we don't take our America back soon, we will suffer the consequences of Nazi Germany. --- Excerpted from The White Rose The White Rose, was formed by students at the University of Munich in 1941. It is believed that the group was formed after August von Galen, the Archbishop of Munster, spoke out in a sermon against the Nazi practice of euthanasia (the killing of those considered by the Nazis as genetically unsuitable). ---- The three members of the White Rose group appeared before the People's Court judge, Roland Friesler, on 20th February. Found guilty of sedition they were executed by guillotine a few hours later. Just before he was executed Hans Scholl shouted out: "Long live freedom!" --- Read more here: http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/GERwhiterose.htm

POPSGov. Sarah Palin: On The Issues New Alaska Governor Is Strong Conservative Economy: She supports reducing property taxes and taxes for small businesses to grow the economy. Climate: However, she has been a vocal critic of scientists who suggest that climate change is leading to the decrease in polar bears in Alaska. She has also threatened to sue to have polar bears not listed as a threatened species. Immigration: Being that her state only borders Canada and is thousands of miles from the Mexican border, Palin has not often expressed her views publicly on illegal immigration. Health Care: According to her campaign Web site, Palin supports flexibility in government regulations that allow competition in health care. She believes it will drive down health care costs and reduce the need for government subsidies. Palin also feels patients should have access to full medical billing information. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXzY1FvYpnE YouTube: 10:19

POPSRight-wing Propaganda against Obama gets into gear Notice that vile woman (snake?) Michelle Malkin is a contributor, along with Mr. excitement himself, Unca Fred T. These people are vile propagandists, liars and disgusting, obscene purveyors of an agenda that will only foster hatred. I got a very ugly letter out of the blue from this rag.

POPSObama On Rosenberg’s WGN Talk Radio: Ayers is Off-Limits! Callers demanded to know why Rosenberg was “giving air time” to Kurtz to “slander” the Democrats’ presidential nominee. Rosenberg stood firm on his decision to have Kurtz on his show and insisted his staff tried getting someone from the Obama campaign to come on to refute Kurtz to no avail. Obama callers were not satisfied with Rosenberg’s explanation and continued demanding answers from the host while excoriating Kurtz . Obama Campaign HQ are .25 mile from WGN radio station.
