POPSDo animals understand death? Do humans? "One example is famadihana - the turning of the bones - a traditional ritual carried out by the Malagasy people of Madagascar. Every seven years, the dead relatives are exhumed from the family tomb, re-wrapped, and danced around the tomb."

POPSDid the devil make him do it? The parents of a schoolby charged with kipping a fellow pupil said that he was "into satanism", as did some newspaper headlines. The trouble is, these allegations are tossed about, but never followed up. There were similar reports a few months ago in the Eastern Cape, but we have heard no more.

POPSStrange Rites From an outside perspective, this truly is a bizarre ritual that is reminiscent of old B-movies of virgins being thrown into volcanoes to appease the gods. I would bet that most believers don't share this viewpoint.

POPS"paintings are talking you, beyond word" ...Buddhist art... "The Buddha did not initiate the creation of sacred images. Once he said to a disciple, who wanted to see him before dying: «Oh, Vakkhali, why do you want to see this body, composed of unclear substances? He who perceives Dharma, Vakkhali, perceives me. He who perceives me perceives Dharma». Thus, as far as we know, there was no worship of the Buddha’s image in the early Buddhist community after his Parinirvāṇa.

POPSEurope's Love Affair With Barry a more "European" (that is, a more social-democratic) America, which at last casts off some of its nastier capitalist habits. An America that is a lot more like us Europeans who have forgone power politics and sovereignty in favor of communitarian politics and integration... After Inauguration Day, alas, Europe and the world will not face a Dreamworks president, but the leader of a superpower. Whether McCain or Obama, the 44th president will speak more nicely than did W. in his first term. He will also pay more attention to the "decent opinions of mankind." But he will still preside over the world's largest military, economic, and cultural power. This vast power differential is what Germans and Europeans don't quite fathom in their infatuation with Obama. Their problem was not Mr. Bush, but Mr. Big--America as Behemoth Among the Nations, unwilling to succumb to the dictates of goodness that animate post-heroic, post-imperial, and post-sovereign Europe.

POPSWoman Celebrating Good Luck Stabs Herself Durring Wiccan Ritual Ironic, yes, funny for most but her, sure. However, maybe the accident saved her life by preventing something, like a car accident on the way home. There are endless chances that this led to good luck as much as i may have been bad. With that said, I am not religious. Just a thought.
