POPSNRCC, RNC & Gingrich Back Margaret Sanger Award Winner you might want to ask for your money back. As I mentioned in my column post on the NY23 special election, the NRCC is using conservatives’ money to back a radical leftist and attack a bona fide, viable conservative candidate for Congress in a safe Republican district. Gingrich has endorsed the radical leftist. Now comes word from CQ that the Republican National Committee has made a “six-figure transfer” of funds to the NRCC to support Scozzafava: In addition to Scozzafava’s radical leftist record that I outlined this morning, Scozzafava is the proud recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award from New York family planners. Yes, that Margaret Sanger.

POPSHow low can the Republicans go! The overall approval ratings of Congressional Republicans is 17% as a party! The Dems are taking their lumps over this chaotic time, but nowhere near the kinds of wounds the GOP are suffering. The media make it appear that all these teabaggers are rallying around the RNC and the country just loves the Beltway elites' favorite party, but that's not true at all.

POPSTea Party Bus Sponsor's Negligence Killed 23 Seniors In Fire, Blames Federal Government. Global Limo's owner Jim Maples even listed Global Charters as his employer when he gave $5000 to the RNC in 2004. *BusBank CEO Bill Maulsby blamed insufficient federal oversight, "We're not safety experts," he said. "We clearly need to depend on the federal government." In November 2006, a federal court convicted Maples and sentenced him to five years' probation for failure to maintain his buses. Investigators found 168 violations in Maples' four-bus fleet. The following month, US Fed News reported that BusBank had been awarded a Homeland Security contract worth up to $55 million. In June, BusBank and Global Limo settled out of court for a total of $11 million, a pittance when split between the families of the 23 victims and the patients who survived the crash. BusBank's legal troubles are far from over. According to one report, more lawsuits are getting underway this month.

POPSHeartless GOP: Michael Steele meet Amanda Duzak The room woke up and other than those glaring from the front, the applause was wall to wall. But it's Steele's response that makes this moment both newsworthy and a terrible comment on his character. After saying that he believed in a mature, honest discussion and not in shouting, Steele said, "People are coming to these town meetings and they're like ." He then looked and gestured right at Ms. Duzak and said, "It makes for great TV. You'll probably make it tonight, enjoy it." He then turned his back to her, as the crowd clapped. Think about what Steele did. He didn't only turn his back and rudely dismiss a young woman whose mother just died of cancer. He used the shameful recent behavior of the right wing town hall screamers -- his own party's base -- to try and turn the crowd against Ms. Duzak. As Smith said to me afterward, "I couldn't believe he acted that way toward her... toward all of us. He was just mean.

POPSIs This Why Eric Holder Isn't Going After Bush Officials?
The tip I got was that the firm had a very important client. His name was George W Bush. And they represented a very important organization . . . called the Republican National Committee. I was in shock when I checked it--and it was true. My favorite research item I ran across is when they were protecting the RNC from having to turn over Karl Rove's e-mails that were run on the RNC servers. It shocked me. Plus I found it mighty interesting that AG Eric Holder never enlightened anyone about his conflicts of coming from a big Washington, D.C., law firm that represented the National Republic Committee and George W. Bush in the 2000 election contest. Simpson notes that Holder's favorable treatment of Republicans hardly stops with the Stevens case. She lists the Tobin phone-jamming case in New Hampshire, the Kott case in Alaska, and the Abramoff/Feeney case in Florida as examples of the Holder DOJ killing GOPers with kindness. What does Simpson make of it? It has long b

POPSTo The RNC: WAKE UP The Republicans have for years presented themselves as "conservatives" and the party of "family values." Why is it that "conservative" doesn't include calling for EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THESE SCAMMERS TO BE THROWN IN PRISON and WHY IS IT THAT I KEEP HEARING ABOUT SOME FLOOZY SCANDAL FROM THESE SO-CALLED "FAMILY VALUES" CHAMPIONS? The ONLY difference between the RNC and DNC is that the DNC tells me up front that the Democrats intend to gang-rape me at the outset. The Republicans claim to intend to protect me, but then after I lower my guard I am violated from behind without warning. This is unacceptable but if I am forced to choose between being warned first and being lied to I'll take the warning thank you very little. I made clear to THE RNC that if they want one thin dime from me they can call again when every Republican Senator and Representative masses together on the steps of the Capitol and states in one loud, clear voice for all in America and every TV Network

POPSSarah Palin: Nothing is ever her fault. Just ask her. Some more selections (though the list goes on and on: -Her criticisms when her witch hunting, governor-anointing pastor, Pastor Muthee , was exposed, were the fault of people who hate Jesus. -Her VP political loss was John McCain's fault. -Her image problems are Tina Fey 's fault. -Her policy on aerial wolf hunting was Ashley Judd's and other Outsiders' fault.

POPSHonoring Our Fallen Heroes On Memorial Day One of my favorite quotes about our military: “Never in the history of the world has any soldier sacrificed more for the freedom and liberty of total strangers than the American soldier. And, our soldiers don’t just give freedom abroad, they preserve it for us here at home. For it has been said so truthfully that it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag who gives that protester the freedom he abuses to burn that flag. No one should dare to even think about being the Commander in Chief of this country if he doesn’t believe with all his heart that our soldiers are liberators abroad and defenders of freedom at home.” - Senator Zell Miller (D-GA), 2004 RNC

POPSRNC's below-the-belt shot at Pelosi The RNC video, which begins with the speaker’s head in the iconic spy-series gun sight... WTF? Oh, right, it's the GOP, which can jokingly threaten the use of guns against their political adversaries instead of engaging in debate, and it's just considered "funny." It wasn't so funny for 2 "liberal" church-goers who were gunned down by a right-winger whose hatred for liberals was incited by right-wing hate radio. Hate and fear are all the GOP have left. I don't defend Pelosi, in fact I'd like to see her gone from politics, but this little joke is beyond the pale. It is adolescent, offensive, and downright un-American.

POPSGOP Finds Winning Issue: Calling Democrats Names The effort is a breakthrough moment in political inanity. Members of the Republican National Committee are holding a special meeting so they can officially ask Democrats to change the name of their political party to something Republicans prefer. In fact, the resolution, which might as well have been written in crayon, concludes that the RNC is "calling on" the Democratic Party to embrace the GOP-endorsed name. It adds that Democrats "should agree" to the re-naming. If Democrats disagree, the RNC has promised to stomp its feet and hold its breath.

POPSLimabaugh To Specter:Take McCain & His Daughter With You "This is a sad day for the GOP," Michael Smerconish, a longtime conservative radio host in Philadelphia, told the Huffington Post. "He is what the party needed to be. They need to cultivate more Specters instead of deriding him as a RINO .... The fact that Michael Steele is deriding him for his left wing record is just the same type of bullshit of playing to the base." Pointing to a Washington Post poll that showed only 21 percent of voters identify themselves as Republicans, Smerconish concluded: "I think the number is down to 20 percent." Meanwhile Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine, one of the few remaining moderate Republicans in the Senate, told the Huffington Post Tuesday that Specter's abandonment of the GOP is "devastating," both "personally and I think for the party."

POPSMichael Steele's Attack On President Obama The RNC letter noted that Mr. Obama while in Europe had said the United States has displayed "arrogance" at times in its foreign policy. But Mr. Steele said it was that it was the former senator from Illinois who was "arrogant". Michael Steele defines, "arrogance".

POPSMichael Steele, Head Of RNC Laughs Off The Recession FTA: The DNC released a statement today, to express dismay at Steele's glibness over the state of the economy. "This callous statement just proves how out of touch the Republican party is. Michael Steele may be worried about his ability to get a reservation at the latest DC restaurant, but there are too many Americans worried about just putting food on their kitchen tables. While the Republican party may think the pain being experienced by families - pain caused by the economic policies they championed - is a laughing matter, what isn't a joke is that they still continue to offer nothing other than those same failed policies," said DNC National Press Secretary Hari Sevugan. But here's the thing that tells me that Steele is operating a few bricks short of a full load. How does it help Steele's party to try to insinuate that the economy is doing better?

POPSSarah Palin Vs Levi Johnston "Bristol's focus will remain on raising Tripp, completing her education, and advocating abstinence," the statement continues. "It is unfortunate that Levi finds it more appealing to exploit his previous relationship with Bristol than to contribute to the well being of the child." The statement ends, saying, "Bristol realizes now that she made a mistake in her relationship and is the one taking responsibility for their actions." It's pretty sickening to use a child for political gain when their baby was used on the national stage and it appears Levi got the old shotgun treatment to attend the RNC Convention."

POPSSteele Claims He's Done With President Obama!
Con't: And the latest poll is telling us that Murphy (D) now has a 4-point lead in that race. With Steele's job possibly hinging on the outcome, I believe the GOP would like Steele's attention off of the President at least until after the special election. Democrat Scott Murphy has taken a 4 percentage point lead over Republican Jim Tedisco in the race for the 20th Congressional District, according to the latest Siena Research Institute poll. That's outside the 3.2 percent margin of error. However, by a 10-point margin, more voters think Tedisco, an Assemblyman, will end up beating Murphy in the special election, the poll said. Murphy, a venture capitalist, erased a 4 percentage point deficit in just two weeks. Tedisco’s campaign is seen as being more negative than Murphy’s by a 44-25 percent margin, according to the Siena Research Institute survey. The NRCC is so frightened by the prospect of losing in a Republican district that they've pulled out the 9/11 --
