Aboriginal Rock Art at Risk
carrerinyes
by carrerinyes  7-26-2008    1
But the peninsula is also seeing increasing industrial activity, including a gas processing plant, a fertiliser factory and iron ore port facilities, making it the only place in Australia to feature on the World Monuments Fund's list of the most endangered sites. Smalldon believes the rock art has suffered since mining took off in the Pilbara, which holds some of the richest mineral deposits on earth, in the 1960s. "We had nearly one million panels of rock art," Smalldon said.

Elvis lives: in 2,000-year-old carving
William Hung

FTA: "Looking at this face with its Elvis-like quiff, strong jaw and nose, one is inevitably led to the thought that the human face for all is diversity and subtlety has after all an ability to repeat itself."

Tali99
by Tali99  7-16-2008
Movie posters are one of the most diversified genre there is. From photography, to realistic illustration, to the expressive and dramatic- Show biz has got it all! Of course, I’m a sucker for it’s pinups- the classic and the contemporary.

Crystal skulls in British, US Museums Are Fakes
revenantdm
by revenantdm  7-9-2008
Indiana Jones would have probably taken as a fool by these as the British Museum Skull was bought 127 years ago and the Smithsonian was bought in 1960. If some of the best scientists, archaeologists, and anthropologists were fooled by the fakes, could have anyone ever have accidentally discovered the deception with only a cursory look? The Legend of the Crystal Skulls and their curse (or blessing - see story) have circulated for decades... nothing like true modern technology and skepticism to ruin a great myth of the paranormal!

Tradecraft Of Socialist Realism
merrie
by merrie  6-5-2008    2
So the media know exactly how to use that kind of image on behalf of the Left. On the other hand, John McCain is already being depicted as a crippled dwarf by nice people like these. http://www.desertratdemocrat.com/archives/1-mccain_bush_hug.jpg Oregon was a Phony-Op, a staged photo-op. The Clintons were masters of the phony-op, in the close coordination with their Hollywood friends. That's how Bill kept his numbers up. So keep a sharp eye out for Phony-Ops. They will be coming at us as regular “news” features until Senator O wins. Then there'll be a lot more over the next four or eight years. But if John McCain wins you won’t see them, just as you haven't seen them with President Bush --- the most media-abused President since Ronald Reagan. Just watch out for that little lump in your throat, the one that tells you, "Haven't I seen this before in Lord of the Rings?" And whatever you do, don't swallow. "Marketing Of A President"
