Huge Weapons Cache Found West Of Baghdad
merrie
by merrie  Yesterday 7:53 AM    3
The pic looks like a bunch of .50 barrels. BFD… comment by thebronze “The cache included 269 122 mm rocket rounds and 200,000 heavy machine-gun rounds.” “The cache included 269 122 mm rocket rounds.” Those rockets would be great IEDs. Or if they have a launcher they could use them against other areas. I take heavy machine gun rounds to mean at least .50. It is something of a big deal. comment by Hard Right

Privately-funded Rocket Reaches Space
Andy Greenberg
by Andy Greenberg  9-29-2008
Just a few days after the Chinese government performed its first spacewalk, SpaceX has achieved the first successful rocket launch funded by a private company. Finally, space exploration as a for-profit venture might be starting to make sense. And that may mean a new sort of race to the moon is beginning--this time between China's government and American private industry.

Mystery swirls around hijacked Iranian ship
tommy2balmy
by tommy2balmy  9-25-2008    7
Within days, pirates who had boarded the ship developed strange health complications, skin burns and loss of hair. Independent sources tell The Long War Journal that a number of pirates have also died. In a strange twist, the Iranian press claims that the U.S. has offered to pay a $7 million bribe to the pirates to "receive entry permission and search the vessel." Officials in the Pentagon and the Department of State approached for this story refused to comment on the situation.

EPA against limiting rocket fuel ingredient in water
katsteevns
by katsteevns  9-24-2008
(cont.) “This is a widespread contamination problem, and to see the Bush EPA just walk away is shocking,” said Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-California, who chairs the Senate’s environment committee. Lenny Siegel, director of the Center for Public Environmental Oversight in Mountain View, California, added: “This is an unconscionable decision not based upon science or law but on concern that a more stringent standard could cost the government significantly.”

Meaning Of THe Word Katyusha (Rocket's)
Calogero
by Calogero  9-15-2008
The Meaning Is CathiKatyusha or Katjusha (Катюша) is a Russian Soviet wartime song about a girl longing for her beloved, who is away on military service. The music was composed in 1938 by Matvei Blanter and the lyrics were written by Mikhail Isakovsky. It was first performed by the celebrated Russian folk singer, Lidiya Ruslanova. Katyusha is a tender diminutive from the female name Ekaterina (Catherine): Katya is the nickname and Katyusha, a tender diminutive. The Russian song also gave name to the BM-8, BM-13, and BM-31 "Katyusha" rocket launchers that were built and fielded by the Red Army in World War II.

IT’S TIME TO DRILL By TWENTY POUND SLEDGE Music lyrics and performed by Alfonzo Rachel We can fix it if we drill here right now. They say it’s going to take 10 years well, They said that 10 years ago so, Had we done it then we’d have the oil now, litigation is the time they’ll drag out. Everyday I here this was a war for oil, though we have our own underneath American soil. If that were really true, then why didn’t you prevent the war by stepping aside so we could get our own crude? The only bloody hands would belong to the left. Aptly named sinister, and taxin’ us to death, The ministers of victimization, who keep us in a state of a dependency nation. REPEAT CHORUS A MACHO SAUCE PRODUCTION

'Muslim Massacre' video game (you couldn't make it up)
cakebelly
by cakebelly  9-12-2008    11
article continues: But Mohammed Shafiq, chief executive of The Ramadhan Foundation, Britain’s leading Muslim youth organisation, said that the game glamorised violence against Muslims whether or not it was satirical. “Encouraging children and young people in a game to kill Muslims is unacceptable, tasteless and deeply offensive,” he said. “There is an increase in violence in this country and some of it comes from video games. When kids spend six hours a day on violent games they are more likely to go outside and commit violence. “If it was the other way around, with a game featuring Muslims killing Israelis or Americans, there would be uproar and rightly so. “We would urge ISPs to take action against sites like this.” The game was first released in January this year, but has become more popular in recent days after being linked to by several prominent blogs.
