POPSVery Long-Term Backup- Rosetta One side of the disk contains a graphic teaser. The design shows headlines in the eight major languages of the world today spiraling inward in ever-decreasing size till it becomes so small you have trouble reading it, yet the text goes on getting smaller. The sentences announce: “Languages of the World: This is an archive of over 1,500 human languages assembled in the year 02008 C.E. Magnify 1,000 times to find over 13,000 pages of language documentation.” This graphic side of the disk is pure titanium. A black oxide coating has been added to the surface. The text is etched into that, revealing the whiter titanium. This bold sign board is needed because the pages of genesis which are etched on the mirror-like opposite side of the disk are nearly invisible.

POPSA Game worthwhile playing ! As a serious gamer I am certainly going to devote some time to this one. The idea is brilliant. Collaborative computing may bring breakthroughs that are decades away otherwise. If you pop this at least give the game a try :-)

POPS mages of Earth and Moon captured by Rosetta Images taken right after Rosetta’s second Earth swing-by last night are now available. The comet chaser’s navigation camera (NAVCAM) took pictures of regions in the Antarctic and snapshots of Earth and the Moon

POPSThe Goons-Unchained Melodies:The Ying Tong Song Includes The Ying Tong Song. Follow the link to more goon clips. If you've never heard The Ying Tong Song, Maybe I could describe it as being written by the ancestors of Monty Python, that the stars of Saturday night live heard to in their cradles. Not a very good description, but maybe you'll understand if you listen to the song. It's a great way to find something to laugh about when it might seem hard. Warning. It can be played to death. It doesn't belong in shopping Malls or elevators.

POPSFree early music recordings on classical guitar (lots) Jon Sayles, an amateur classical guitarist and lover of early music, has recorded a huge number of classic early melodies on his guitar and made all the recordings freely available in mp3 format on his site. Check it out. He is modest about his abilities, but his renditions are certainly competent and, I think, very sensitive and well done.

POPSRosetta@home - Protein Folding program Here is a video about Rosetta@home protein folding software that you can download to help research find cures for, as of yet, incurable diseases. I have a link to the website with my other clipmark, "Use Your computer to help research"

POPSStanford University Protein Folding Program This is very similar to the Rosetta folding program. Just a different research team. This one also doesn't interfere with your computer's performance. You can configure it to work only when you are not on the computer or at night. I used to use this one before Rosetta. Both are after the same goal, basically.

POPSUse your computer to help research This is a great way for you to help find cures for terrible diseases. You can directly participate in the research of proteins. They need your computer to run computations. I've been doing this for years. I have never had any trouble or slow downs. You can configure the options to only let them run their work at night or when your computer is idle for so many minutes.
