POPSfolding bike review: the Giant Halfway A few more foldies the writer likes: Again, there are many great folding bicycles on the market today, another sign that the bicycle industry is moving to better serve the commuter market. Great folders include the Breezer Zigzag , the Brompton , and the KHS Mocha/Latte . If you are a multimodal bicycle commuter fearful of rapid crowding on transit systems, or live in a small apartment, or lack secure bike parking and need to bring your bike into your office/workplace--you might want to consider a folding bike.

POPSThe House Sides with Main St: "No Deal" to Banksters! In this real game of "Deal or No Deal" the American taxpayer finally won a round against the financial heavyweights. While idiots in the House and talk radio (and the McCain campaign) tried to make this a partisan issue, Bloomberg tallies here that 40% of Democrats and 67% of Republicans combined together to narrowly defeat the Fed's bill that Bush supported. THAT IS CALLED A BI-PARTISAN DEFEAT OF THE BILL THAT AMERICANS IN THE MAJORITY TOLD CONGRESS THEY HATED! Conservative talk show host Michael Savage tonight (who has been railing against Bush as a fiscal socialist and the Wall Street banksters as crooks) underscored that he was right that Americans wanted "no deal" while talk show corporate sycophants (he let them have it by name)--i.e. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly--who supported the bailout were wrong. The defeat of this irresponsible bill was not based upon Partisanship, but good Principle.

POPSMcCain's Version of 'Leadership' So basically, he had to rush off to Washington to keep a chair warm. Nice stunt. The piece goes on: Sen. Chris Dodd said, “Instead of being a rescue plan for our economy it was a rescue plan for John McCain .” Sen. Chuck Schumer urged Bush to “respectfully tell Sen. McCain to get out of town. He’s not helping .” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid added, “We had Senator Bennett, a high ranking official, who said these are the principles. And then, guess who came to town? And it all fell apart.” Leadership? I don't think so.

POPSBailout losing support everywhere I've been reading this blog for 2 years, and he's predicted the mess we're in very well and has spurred a huge campaign to stop the bailout. Read this blog if you want to understand what is happening.

POPS150 Top Economists Say "Hold Off" on Bailout The economists say: "not urgent right now" and "will create more problems", and "expressed alarm at the haste of lawmakers and the Bush administration to pass legislation". Alot different than what Bush stated Wed night in his "Financial WMD speech" isn't it? Read the advise of these experts who warn: ``The situation may get urgent, but it's not urgent right now. Right now it's a financial sector problem.'' Apparently this helped to slam on the brakes Thursday: Today Senator Richard Shelby, a Republican from Alabama, said he has ``five pages of the leading economists in America that wrote to me and the leadership saying the Paulson plan is a bad plan. It will not solve problems. It will create more problems.'' Not hearing that on the news are we? Ask yourself why the MSM does not quote these credible experts instead of parroting the propaganda of Bush's (Fed) speech that the entire economy will collapse without a deal now.

POPSBush to address country about bailout plan I personally still think it is BS that this thing has such a RUSH on it. If it is that bad, then why did they not fix it a few weeks ago or a month ago. Forecasting could have shown projections on where things were going. There is definitely something else behind this whole thing to RUSH things through. Hell - did they not RUSH through the war package that was needed and for how many billions?

POPSRFK Jr. on Palin's Big Oil infatuation
Now John McCain has chosen as his running mate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a diligent student of Big Oil's crib sheets. She's something of a flat-earther who shares the current administration's contempt for science. Palin has expressed skepticism about evolution (which is like not believing in gravity), putting it on par with "creationism," which posits that the Earth was created 6,000 years ago. She used to insist that human activities have nothing to do with climate change. "I'm not one ... who would attribute it to being man-made," she said in August. After she joined the GOP ticket, she magically reversed herself, to a point. "Man's activities certainly can be contributing to the issue of global warming," she told Charles Gibson two weeks ago. Meanwhile, Alaska is melting before our eyes; entire villages erode as sea ice vanishes, glaciers are disappearing at a frightening clip, and "dancing forests" caused by disappearing permafrost astonish residents and tourists. Palin had to

POPSTo make a king Binyavanga Wainaina's excellent commentary on how we in Africa stereotype ourselves, turn our leaders into kings, and then act all surprised when it results in violence. It's worth reading the full article.

POPSRush Limbaugh Hates Mexicans - But in a Funny Way! My problem with Rush is not that he's a bigot. Bigots are actually funny to me in the way that people who still wear parachute pants give me a chuckle. What bothers me about Rush's ilk is that they don't actually have the stones to be real racists or women haters or anti- Semites. Though they irresponsibly fan the flames of hatred, they don't own the strength of their convictions. When they are called on their stuff they run back to their bunker, which is heavily fortified for a reason, crying "but it was only a joke!" Like when Rush joked that Obama was a "haf-rican," or when he jested that Obama was a "magical negro." Oh, the hilarity. Be a man, Rush. Be a hateful man, but be a man instead of a pasty- lookin' crackhead drug addict whose wives keep ditching him 'cause he's impotent. That last bit was just satire, of course, so please don't take it out of context.

POPSTwo Hispanic Hillary Clinton Supporters Endorse John McCain Secaira, who is of Dominican descent, traveled to eight states to coordinate grassroots efforts for Senator Clinton, has a doctorate of neuropsychology and was trained at New York University. ARLINGTON, VA — Today, McCain-Palin 2008 held a press conference call with Miguel D. Lausell, Senior Political Advisor to Hillary Clinton, and Clinton Delegate-at-Large Luchy Secaira. Both Lausell and Secaira endorsed John McCain for president. On Barack Obama’s recent ad that used out-of-context quotes from Rush Limbaugh to insinuate that John McCain insulted Hispanics: Secaira: “There goes the new politics. I don’t see anything new about put-down politics. And once again, I want to reiterate that the Hispanic community has nothing to fear because they know John McCain. uppitywoman08.wordpress.com
