Expedited Trials of Illegal Immigrants Questioned
dl211
by dl211  Yesterday 2:32 PM
Homeland Security and Justice Department officials credit the new aggressive tactics with deterring border crossings. Republicans on the Judiciary Committee accused Democrats of caring more about illegal immigrants than the American workers whose jobs they take. "The more the administration tries to do its job . . . the more they are criticized for enforcing the law," said Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Tex.).

Tequila aside, even experts can't agree on what goes into a margarita
Lexica

I agree with the bartender who says that without triple sec, it's not a margarita, it's a Tequila gimlet. And a martini is gin and vermouth . :-p

This poor woman. She has lost her husband and her two boys in a road rage incident that wouldn't have happened if the city's 1989 law preventing city agencies from contacting the feds if they find an illegal. So sad that this happened, made worse knowing it could have been prevented.

Pelosi blocks vote on Bush request to lift ban...
jatfla
by jatfla  7-20-2008    4
This is so typical of Pelosi and her fellow Democrats in Congress. She won't even allow it to be voted on!! She will do whatever it takes to continue to stonewall this Administration...no, the democratic system...with her refusal to allow the process to move and bring this to a vote. Why? Because she would lose! FTA: "In the House, the power rests in the speaker, the power of recognition, of setting the agenda. ... Very different rules,"

2008 San Francisco Civil Grand Jury Report On Homelessness Just Released
sfhomeless
by sfhomeless  7-20-2008
This excerpt comes from http://www.bluoz.com/blog/index.php?url=archives/413-Civil-Grand-Jury-Report-on-Homelessness.html&serendipity =true#feedback Which is a website run by JEFF a very sane and cool SF Tenant of a crime ridden SRO (Single Room Occupancy Hotel Room) supposedly with in-house supportive services - managed by a non-profit/for profit group called Tenderloin Housing Clinic owned or directed by a lawyer or attorney named Randy Shaw. What the City of San Francisco (like the City of New York) has 'kept hidden' by sweeping their homeless into SRO's has just been blown out the door by this well done, fact based Civil Grand Jury Report. Goes to show you. Whenever a community fails to meet the needs of their entire community, including their elderly, poor, sick, disabled and homeless by NOT giving them good care with proper standards and accountabilty.

San Francisco: Sanctuary City Gone Awry
merrie
by merrie  7-18-2008    1
However, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Francisco Police Department "cited ’numerous documented contacts’ that officers had with Ramos and Lopez, and said both were active members of the MS-13 street gang.’" But thanks to San Francisco’s sanctuary city status, instead of being reported to federal immigration authorities and deported, Ramos was allowed continue to roam the streets of San Francisco until his arrest for the Bologna killings. Earlier this month, San Bernardino County officials threatened to sue the city of San Francisco for sending a group of Honduran, illegal immigrant, juvenile crack dealers to group homes in the city of Yucaipa without notification. Eight of them simply walked away from the unsecured group homes and only one has been recaptured. In fact, Yucaipa has seen a rise in violent crime in accordance with the influx of foreign offenders to its group homes in recent years.
