POPSYou Do That Voodoo So Well Voodoo. Scientology. Evangelicals. Personally they all seem like simply the same cloth with different dyes applied. Why should this be a story and our Governor praying for rain treated so differently? The basic concepts based in superstition and magic are only different in ritual.

POPSHorrifying Revelations... ...or some repeated truths, depending on how much you've looked into the abomination that is The "Church" Of Scientology.

POPSSoftware for Politics "'Anonymous,' best known for its jousts with Scientology, has apparently hacked Sarah Palin's private Yahoo email account. Contents, including sample emails, an index, and family photos, have been posted by Wikileaks, which calls them evidence that the GOP vice presidential candidate has improperly used private email to shield government business from public scrutiny." Note that there is no easy way to tell if the material on Wikileaks is genuine or a hoax. Update by J : Genuine. privacy, politics, usa, slashdotted, haha (tagging beta)

POPSSinger and Songwriter Legend Isaac Hayes Died Today He appeared in episodes of The A-Team and Miami Vice, though his acting wasn't limited to the small screen. Hayes also had roles in films such as Shaft (1971), Escape from New York (1981), I'm Gonna Git You Sucka (1988) and Johnny Mnemonic (1995). In a tragic twist of fate, Hayes most recently filmed a small role playing himself in the upcoming movie Soul Man, starring Bernie Mac, who died yesterday at the age of 50 from pneumonia. Hayes is survived by his wife, 12 children and 16 grandchildren. Isaac Hayes Bio http://www.isaachayes.com/bio/bio-2.html

POPSScientology Slapped With Civil RICO Suit The Super Adventure Club probably isn't what the statute's drafters had in mind, but then again.. Notre Dame law professor G. Robert Blakey, one of its main drafters, insists that Congress never intended to restrict its application to the Mob. "We don't want one set of rules for people whose collars are blue or whose names end in vowels, and another set for those whose collars are white and have Ivy League diplomas," he says. Presumably the same goes for people whose collars are red and who rule the Galactic Confederacy. (HT: WWTDD)

POPSScientology recruiting via facebook? I was playing poker on facebook, & suddenly realized the advertisement on the left pointed to a vacancy for the company U-Man. Normally, I wouldn't click through, but the name U-Man grabbed my attention since I happen to know it's a scientology affiliated organization "selling their Tech" in management circles. Are they're trying to "get some raw meat into the shop"? And it just so happens I'm looking for work right now. What do you think, should I apply? Should I mention that I graduated doing thesis on Scientology? Sure they must be interested ... ;D Also: props to facebook for directing this ad to me. That's some pretty nifty targeted advertising.

POPSTeen summonsed for calling Scientology a cult The City of London police came under fire two years ago when it emerged that more than 20 officers, ranging from constable to chief superintendent, had accepted gifts worth thousands of pounds from the Church of Scientology. The City of London Chief Superintendent, Kevin Hurley, praised Scientology for "raising the spiritual wealth of society" during the opening of its headquarters in 2006. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anonymous_(group)

POPSAnonymous vs. Scientology I'm all for freedom of religion. What is happening here has nothing to do with beliefs. It's about The Church of Scientology, the organization, and how they have and will continue to manipulate whoever they wish. http://whyaretheydead.net/ http://xenu.net/

POPSScientology and the "C" word. "The teenager's defence was that he was merely quoting the opinion of Mr Justice Lacey who back in 1994 used the ācā word in reference to the aforementioned completely rational belief outfit founded by a scrupulously honest major novelist. Justice Lacey also concluded that said wholly savoury and unworryingly rich and powerful and totally not-at-all-paranoid collection of always-do-wells and marketing geniuses were "corrupt, sinister and dangerous" (expressing of course the Judge's opinion of these tirelessly self-less, community-minded missionaries from another planet)"
