POPSRichard Chai a few favorites Richard Chai...Richard Chai... what can I say his clothes lack a bit of originality but they are amazing, designer streetwear has never looked better. I'm not one to care about things that are designer (a shock isn't it) I write about it because I feel designer clothes are very unique and I really like that. I find it though strange that people often congratulate grungy looking clothes that are designer but if a person decides to dress like that without designer labels there just followers of the Seattle Grunge weird social outcasts. Sorry for my preaching but anyway... but anyway above are some great street outfits that look great. Richard Chai check him out :-D

POPSStarbucks Closing Stores Well, I for one am not surprised. Finally people have come to their senses. Don't get me wrong, I too love Starbucks but I've always wondered how they could be so successful by selling expensive coffee and very little else. I consider their brews to be a luxury which I can only occasionally afford to delve into. To me they don't sell a product or service which really competes with the already established businesses in the vicinity and when they open more than one store within a limited region, then they're only really competing with themselves. They're robbing business from Starbucks... not the McDonalds, Wendys or Dunkin Donuts next door. Now, if they can only sell a good cup of coffee at half the price and give free refills, then they've sold me. But hey, haven't I just described places which have been doing that for decades?

POPSWhy liberals like high gas prices Of course they forget the poor who are hit hardest when gas prices go up. So much for the compassionate liberal. Barack said recently, he is glad gas prices are going up so people will drive less. But BO...don't you know what happens to food prices, electricity bills, rent etc when gas prices go up?

POPSGene silencer and quantum dots reduce protein production to a whisper
Each quantum dot was surrounded by a proton sponge that carried a positive charge. Without any quantum dots attached, the siRNA's negative charge would prevent it from penetrating a cell's wall. With the quantum-dot chaperone, the more weakly charged siRNA complex crosses the cellular wall, escapes from the endosome (a fatty bubble that surrounds incoming material) and accumulates in the cellular fluid, where it can do its work disrupting protein manufacture. Key to the newly published approach is that researchers can adjust the chemical makeup of the quantum dot's proton-sponge coating, allowing the scientists to precisely control how tightly the dots attach to the siRNA. Quantum dots were dramatically better than existing techniques at stopping gene activity. In experiments, a cell's production of a test protein dropped to 2 percent when siRNA was delivered with quantum dots. By contrast, the test protein was produced at 13 percent to 51 percent of normal levels when the siRNA

POPSIlluminates of Thanateros (IOT) Occasionally I will find a listing of a "secret society" that has an interesting ancestry of precursors (Austin Osman Spare) but loses something in the translation... i.e. basing their imagery on Michael Moorcock and the Order of Templar Orientis seems to be rather contraindicative. OTO was originally the Egyptian Rites of Freemasonry started originally by Giovanni Balsamo (Cagliostro) and taken over and reworkd by Aleister Crowley. Fits my definition of a curiosity.

POPSInterviews with Anarchists in the United States Please check out source. Many more interviews and audio I could not clip. Andrew Flood has spent the last several months traveling around the USA speaking about anarchism in Ireland. Forty-five cities with populations from thirty thousand to over eight million. At many of those stops, Andrew interviewed local anarchists, and has published over seven and a half hours of audio.

POPSDiet can shut off cancer genes "The findings could be particularly helpful for older patients whose prostate cancer shows up in a screening and could benefit from a less invasive intervention, such as lifestyle change, said biostatistician Ruth Etzioni of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle."

POPSNIES Kids' Pages - Sing-Along Songs Midis & Lyrics Cool government web site that has all sorts of stuff for kids, one of those things being an index of lyrics and tunes to Sing-Alongs. I have been having a blast finding songs we used to sing at the summer picnics my neighborhood (Capital Hill, Seattle, Wa) used to have in the 70's. They were hosted by the Bullit sp? family, former owners of KING 5 TV. I just happened to be lucky enough to be best friends with someone who lived accross the street from them. We always sang songs when it started getting dark. I have a lot of good memories about those picnics. They were nice people too. One year they paid for me to go to summer camp because my family couldn't afford it. We didn't ask, I think they heard if from one of my friends.

POPSWorse Than Fascists: Christian Political Group 'The Family' Openly Reveres Hitler
Jeff Sharlet: It's an international network of evangelical activists in government, military and business. The Family is dedicated to this idea that Christianity has gotten it all wrong for two thousand years by focusing on the poor, the suffering and the weak. The Family says that instead, what Christians should do is minister to the up-and-out -- as opposed to the down-and-out -- to those that are already powerful. Because if they can win those people for Christ, they win the whole deal. That's what this network is dedicated to. It includes nonprofit organizations, it includes think tanks, it includes various ministries. The roster of current and former Family members includes senators, congressmen, Fortune 500 CEOs, generals and at least one Supreme Court justice. The Family does not publish membership lists, and its members are sworn to secrecy, so a full accounting is impossible. Sen. Hillary Clinton has been involved with the Family since 1993 when, as first lady, she join
