POPSGoogle targeted in e-mail scam Other addresses include Comcast and Earthlink accounts. It is not clear whether the new list was part of the same phishing attack that collected the Hotmail addresses or a separate scam. "Our guidance to customers is to exercise extreme caution when opening unsolicited attachments and links from both known and unknown sources, and that they install and regularly update their anti-virus software." security expert Graham Cluley of Sophos advised users to change their passwords as soon as possible. "I'd also recommend that people change the password on any other site where they use it," he said. About 40% of people had the same password for every website they used, he added.

POPSConfidential memo reveals US plan to provoke an invasion of Iraq Proof of immoral leadership? Documents like this raise issues of national embarrassment, not national security. The restoration of public confidence requires this new inquiry to be transparent. Contentious matters should not be kept out of the public domain, even in the run-up to an election Paraphrasing Bush's comments at the meeting, Manning, noted: "The start date for the military campaign was now penciled in for 10 March. This was when the bombing would begin."

POPSNational Archives Loses Sensitive Data Well, how do you "lose" a hard drive? I don't think it would fit into Sandy Burger's socks. And "sensitive data from the Clinton administration..." so not surprising it would be theirs.

POPS A Timid Advocate of Freedom “the last best hope on earth” are what freedom’s friends would have expected to hear from our president when our nation was slandered. Instead he offered silence, smiles, and a handshake. Kim Jong Il launched a long-range missile on the very day President Obama addressed the world about the peril of nuclear proliferation. Not to be outdone by Kim Jong Il, President Ahmadinejad announced that his nation has successfully mastered every step necessary to enrich uranium, violating the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty it has signed. So, like North Korea, Iran will have changed the world’s equation for peace and security: It will be capable of devastating Europe and America, and of annihilating Israel. And as with North Korea, the Obama administration chooses inaction --- Ahmadinejad can act with confidence that the forceful options once on our proverbial table have been shelved.

POPSNetanyahu's Coalition by Uri Avnery «Now the task is to present to the world, and especially the US and Europe, a false picture, pretending that our new government is yearning for peace, acting for peace, indeed turning every stone in search of peace — while doing the exact opposite. The world will be submerged by a deluge of declarations and promises, accompanied by lots of meaningless gestures, conferences and meetings. People with good ears are already hearing Netanyahu, Liberman and Barak starting to play around with the 'Arab Peace Initiative'. They will talk about it, interpret it, accept it ostensibly while attaching conditions that empty it of all content.»

POPSBoy, 14, dupes police, patrols Chicago for 5 hours Dugan said the boy looks older than 14 and was motivated by a desire to be an officer, not malice or "ill intent." The boy once took part in a Chicago program for youth interested in policing, so he would have been familiar with some procedures, perhaps helping him blend in, police spokeswoman Monique Bond said.

POPSNasrallah: Egypt accomplice in 'Gaza crime' Egypt boosts security on Gaza border AFP Egyptian security forces prepare for possible IDF operation in Gaza that officials fear could lead to breach of border Officials and residents in north Sinai said they fear a repeat of the Palestinian breach of the border in January, when tens of thousands of Gazans poured into Egypt after gunmen in Gaza blew holes in the border barricade. “There is a heavy security presence near the border with Gaza,” a security official told AFP. “We are worried that because of Israeli pressure, the Palestinians will breach the border.” Thursday night dozens of mortar shells were fired on Israel from the Gaza Strip. Despite the attacks, the Defense Ministry did not take back its decision to open the Gaza crossings to allow the entrance of humanitarian aid, and 40 trucks carrying food, medicine and other goods were allowed into Gaza Friday morning. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3644763,00.html

POPSHigh Dam Kayaking Amateur video of the high dam kayaking Kayakers are continuing to use a Carmarthenshire dam to practice their extreme sport, despite the introduction of extra security patrols. The patrols are to discourage the kayakers making the 300ft (91m) drop down the spillway at Llyn Brianne reservoir. It followed a group of kayakers being filmed making the dangerous descent. Welsh Water said more kayakers turned up at the reservoir at the weekend, despite the practice being banned. When the spillway kayaking first came to light last week, the company condemned it as extremely dangerous and warned it would take action against anyone in breach of the restriction. Since then, as well as extra security patrols at the dam on the Powys and Ceredigion borders, the company has also reduced the volume of water running down the spillway - making it unsuitable for kayaking. 'No incidents' Sally Gronow, head of communications at Welsh Water, said security officers turned away three g
