POPSBureaucrats Need a Cluebat Within three hours of rescuing the 13-year-old schoolgirl last Tuesday the boat was towed away by a senior MCA officer and is now locked away. 'We have identified a serious breach of health and safety procedures and they are currently being investigated. 'The boat has been stood down for a further eight weeks while we investigate the possibility of repair or replacement.' Stupid is as stupid does...

POPSEnding Londonistan Preface by Melanie Phillips Both at home and abroad, Britain has lost any shared understanding of the threats that must be faced and how to do so. Indeed, with its steady loss of the power of self-governance to the European Union, there is no longer any clear idea of where political responsibility lies. In short, the RUSI paper asserts that Britain's security is being put at greater risk from without because British democracy itself is at risk from within . In allowing the progressive fragmentation of British society and the weakening of its military and defense infrastructure, the government has left Britain open to the pincer movement of cultural colonization and terrorist attack. The only solution is for Britain to rediscover its historic identity, restore its power to rule itself, and reassert the mutual obligations between government and people. Gwyn Prins and Robert Salisbury, "Risk, Threat and Security," RUSI Journal, Feb. 2008.

POPSSalute To 'Indian Joe' & St. Anthony's - THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR PEOPLE
This is a funny little bit about Indian Joe and St. Anthony's who serves about a 1,500 meals every day for us without taxpayer funds.... (as far as we know). History Note: On October 4, 1950, Fr. Alfred opens St. Anthony Dining Room, serving 400 meals the first day. After realizing guests suffer from untreated medical problems, Fr. Alfred creates a small First Aid Station in the DIning Room. WE LOVE ST. ANTHONY'S and we are not happy about Marian's women shelter is closing. They do their operation very well, most of the time and even have a nutritionist or dietician that coordinates their meals and menu. With the closing of the Haight-Ashbury Food Program (and cooking school run by Chef Dan before he retired last Christmas) for reasons we are still researching -- there has been a noticeable increase in demand for meals. Indian Joe has become St. Anthony's Poster Boy. They made a postcard with his picture on it !! It looks FANTASTIC. Oh should we say Fab-U-Lous

POPSCoal Train Ambushed Near Power Station Most of the group then clambered up the bridge and dropped food, water and bedding for at least 24 hours from its overhead beams on to the flat tops of the trucks. "We've enough for at least two days," said Ben Tennyson, one of the Climate Camp activists, as a mobile lavatory was swung aboard by a woman campaigner dressed as a canary - coal-mining's traditional warning of danger. A banner was then draped along one of the trucks reading Leave it in the Ground - the slogan of the group's "total war" on mining and burning coal. "We're stopping the train because it's absolute nonsense to be burning coal when we should be tackling climate change," another protester told a woman commuter, late for work, who was one of a jam of motorists blocked at nearby Hirst Courtney level crossing. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2008/jun/14/activists.carbonemissions

POPSNational Conference For Media Reform And Progressive Media Outlets
As AIM has documented in the book, “The Death of Talk Radio?,” and in a TV advertisement, the movement to control the content of the media is a real danger to the First Amendment guarantee of freedom of speech. But the Broadcaster Freedom Act, which would stop the return of the Fairness Doctrine, is being bottled up by congressional liberals, who don’t want it to come up for a vote. If Obama captures the White House and gets the opportunity to appoint the FCC chairman, liberals would then have a 3-2 majority capable of bringing back the Fairness Doctrine through administrative action, without the need for congressional approval. A new Fairness Doctrine could be challenged in the courts. In the meantime, as court battles proceed, conservatives could be forced off the air by liberal FCC bureaucrats. The 2007 National Conference for Media Reform, also covered by Accuracy in Media, included members of the Revolutionary Communist party and other Marxist groups.

POPSLingering Southern resentment is the real problem
No one ever demanded of President Bush that he repudiate these hellfire and brimstone types, yet ... the ideologues are demanding something more of Obama. The hypocrisy here is large; I would not expect anything else from Krauthammer but Michael Gerson is a "person of faith." And surely he knows the danger of hypocrisy in that part of the public sphere where religion intersects with politics. I'm sure he knows much of the Gospel of Matthew by heart. .. let me remind of Matthew 23 verses 13-15. Each verse begins, "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!" America needs no heavenly destroyer to revive itself, it needs people in Gerson's position to examine their consciences and stop being hypocrites. A good place to start would be for him to address the shocking statements made by white Christian preachers over the air waves every day. He might take advantage of the opportunity to repudiate them by name and renounce their help in electing Republicans to office. [/qu

POPSBREAKING - Feds Indict Former CAIR Chief/Current Muslim Charity Exec as Saddam Spy U.S. Attorney Murphy Allows Charity to Remain Open, Main Financier to Walk Free By Debbie Schlussel The indictment says that Saddam Hussein's government gave Al-Hanooti two million barrels of oil in exchange for his work on behalf of the Iraqi intelligence service in America, one wonders how much of a cut of that his partner Alomari and his close buddy and champion, Imad Hamad, got. A good take, I'm sure. And I bet the feds know about this but are looking the other way. Mark my word. So, while it is mildly good news that Muthanna Al-Hanooti may face justice, that news is far too belated and far too little. When Mohammed Alomari is indicted, LIFE For Relief and Development is shut down and its assets frozen, and Imad Hamad--who worked for Al-Hanooti and LIFE to get USAID status and federal government protection through Senator Carl Levin--is also stopped cold, then I will be happy.

POPSAncestor of R2-D2 and C-3PO makes his debut On the ends of the arms are Dextre's hands, or Orbital Replacement Unit/Tool Changeout Mechanisms. Each hand consists of parallel retractable jaws, which are used to grip objects. Dextre also has a tool kit and is equipped with lights and video equipment. "Probably the most important thing in Dextre is what we call the force moment sensor," explains Richard Rembala from MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates, the renowned Canadian robotics company that has led the development of Dextre. "The sensor is located at the wrist on each arm, and this sensor really gives Dextre a sense of touch. As it's grabbing boxes, it can actually measure how hard it's pushing, how hard it's twisting. "This means it can limit the forces applied to structures so it doesn't break them." Dextre is the final part in a three-component system that the Canadians have built to service the exterior of the space station.
