POPSTHE LIST OF DUMB #25 I admit I have not been by chud.com in a long time but there is always something to make a person shudder in the grip of WTF were they thinking??? This is the premium stuff here, no BS and not gut at all. There is a little here for every one of you sick people out there! How do I know? I guess I am a little sick too,

POPSBush made the world a safer place Bush was the right man for the presidency, at precisely the right time. I shudder to think of the mess we would be in had Gore or that other idiot been at the reins on 9/11.

POPSJustice Scalia Says SCOTUS Ruling "limits Presidential power"
Nielsen Hayden continues: I’ve also skimmed Scalia’s dissent (starting on page 110 of that PDF), in which, having seen a terrorist scurrying around the floorboards of his kitchen, he leaps up onto a chair, robes clutched around his knees, and shrieks for a big strong executive branch to do away with our essential liberties so he can have a little temporary safety. But the real gem comes on page 127: But so long as there are some places to which habeas does not run — so long as the Court’s new “functional” test will not be satisfied in every case — then there will be circumstances in which “it would be possible for the political branches to govern without legal constraint.” Or, to put it more impartially, areas in which the legal determinations of the other branches will be (shudder!) supreme. Yes, he actually wrote “(shudder!)”! But don’t let that distract you. Check out the first half of that quote. The thing Scalia’s actually worried about is that this decision places li

POPSA Flawed Feminist Test "As a possible first Madame President, Hillary is a flawed science experiment because you can’t take Bill out of the equation. Her story is wrapped up in her marriage, and her marriage is wrapped up in a series of unappetizing compromises, arrangements and dependencies."

POPSAre You Afraid Of People? Ask yourself, "What's the worst that can happen?" and hopefully you will come to the realization that there is no harm in interacting with others. Hmm. Did a phobic write that? Bad experiences with people, are very hard things to talk yourself out of. What IS the worst thing that could happen? *shudder* Is the fear of others always "irrational", when you know what evil things, people are capable of? It seems perfectly understandable and rational and logical to me. Approximately 13% of the US population suffers from some form of person-related phobia.

POPSOn The Difference Between Belief and Politics
If someone holds conservative, right wing beliefs, I've got not problem with them. I might even find myself agreeing with them sometimes. On the other hand, right wing politics are what really get under my skin. And when it comes to Bush, it's pretty much 100% pure politics. So what's the difference? Well beliefs are ideas - principles you think are right, and that you are willing to stand up for. Politics is using other people's beliefs to get what you want. Bush doesn't believe in being a "fiscal conservative!" He just talks about that so that right wing voters will support him. He wants to be fiscally conservative on public schools and health care and other areas that don't directly benefit him or his friends, but when it comes to something he wants, belief takes a back seat to unadulterated greed. Why do conservatives feel they have to defend him? Why deny reality to defend something that is against your values? Bush has dragged the entire GOP into deluded solipsism

POPSCan't Wait To Yap I want to get my hands on Yap, "an automated platform that instantly converts anything you say on your cell into text." I happen to be one of those of dangerous drivers that occasionally texts while in traffic or at a stop light. I can't wait to have a way to speak into my phone to send texts and search the web. What I wouldn't give to have this on my 3,000 mile drive back to San Diego. Here's some more info from site. So cool!

POPSDid George W. Bush Have Sex With That Man? "Does anyone really believe that Republicans don't have their own dalliances? We don't really give a hoot who anybody sleeps with in their private lives. But when one party puts on such a show of being straight, upright Christians just to fool the masses into voting for them, their hypocrisy should be exposed - at every turn of the button." Having said all of that, did GW have sex with that man? The article is an old one and Mr. Guckert now has his own web site. We will never know whether the question is an absurd one or not, but it's a fascinating question.

POPSTin-Foil Hat Alert-Stop Global-Warming-Get Sterilized
England's Daily Mail Wednesday http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/femail/article.html?in_article_id=495495&in_page_id=1879 "Having children is selfish. It's all about maintaining your genetic line at the expense of the planet," says Toni, 35. "Every person who is born uses more food, more water, more land, more fossil fuels, more trees and produces more rubbish, more pollution, more greenhouse gases, and adds to the problem of over-population." While most parents view their children as the ultimate miracle of nature, Toni seems to see them as a sinister threat to the future. I never felt having children was a selfish act. Quite the contrary, I believe successful members of a species that decline to replicate their genes are being selfish as most of them do it for their own personal interests and not those of the species. After all, if a majority of any species opted out of the procreation process, said species would cease to exist. I'm just saying.

POPSDespising Oral Sex More Than Torture "We were a nation inspired by thought and words. Patrick Henry, "Give me liberty or give me death." Dr. King, "I have a dream." The hymns of the heart like, "We Shall Overcome." Suddenly we say "Give me less liberty so I don't worry about death." Standing on the mountaintop, we exclaim, "I have no dream." Overwhelmed by paranoia and despair, we lament, "We cannot overcome."

POPSS&M Death Raises Legal Questions I'm all for consenting sex between two adults but on a personal note, I've never understood this sort of sex. I'm a gentle loving soul, who gets turned on by cuddling *LOL* and even people who enjoy "rough" sex kinda leave me bewildered. Having said that, there was an interesting question in the clip. Since he consented to this sort of sex play, can the other person be held responsible for his death?

POPSAnalysts watch, wince as Mexico's oil supply dwindles The fact is that blowing up pipelines is much easier and cheaper, than blowing up people. The PR is better, too. It is almost impossible to protect 1000s of miles of pipeline, compared with a few airports equipped with wall to wall high tech security systems. Having a nuclear arsenal won't help much, either. It rather looks like the Achilles heel of Western hegemony. I wonder what a possible defense could be?

POPSMale teachers help boys "behave" First thought, "well duh!" Second thought: I think the way the teacher teaches is the bigger factor- if you are able to connect and adapt better to the students' learning style, you will have a greater impact, regardless if you are the same gender or not. I have seen many boys completely "railroad" a male teacher, and completely shudder when they see a female one. The quality of their work, school experience and learning? Now that's a different matter!

POPS17 Foods To Try Before You Die My list wouldn't look like that a bit. (No Foie Gras! *shudder*) My list would have to include caviar. I've tried Beluga Caviar once and it really was all it's cracked up to be. The roe sort of pops in your mouth in the most exquisite bubbly sort of way. It waaay surpassed my wildest expectations. If it wasn't because the fish is going extinct, I would say everyone should try it at least once in their life. (Stay away from Foie Gras... it is ethically reprehensible)
