POPSPuerto Rico Unions Protest Job Cuts From the article: Several protesters, holding signs demanding work, directed their criticism at Gov. Luis G. Fortuño. He was elected to his first term last year as a Republican, promising to jumpstart the economy, but so far, job losses and negative growth have continued, punishing the island with its fourth year of recession. Governor Fortuño has said repeatedly that he did not want layoffs, but had no choice. In interviews on radio and television on Thursday, he said that it was the only way to avoid a government shutdown because of the territory’s $3.2 billion deficit. “There was no alternative,” Mr. Fortuño said. “And there is no turning back.” ----- Which I can tell you is an total lie.

POPSObama Administration Moves to Shutdown Disclosure of Big Labor-ACORN Connections
U.S. Big Labor Department swings into action Instead of focusing on the economy or the alarming unemployment trends, Obama’s Big Labor Department seems to have focused little on the men and women behind those numbers. Instead, Secretary Solis has focused like a laser beam on eliminating disclosure of labor bosses perks and their spending of money collected as a condition of employment from millions of workers. And that is not all; Obama’s Labor Department creatively and without rulemaking eliminated 2008 Bush Administration reform of Labor Officer conflict-of-interest reporting. The following is the de facto rulemaking: Note: The Office of Labor-Management Standards will publish in the spring 2009 Semi-Annual Regulatory Agenda notice of an intended rulemaking to revise the Form LM-30 (Labor Organization Officer and Employee Report). The rulemaking is intended to review questions of policy and law surrounding these reporting requirements. ......

POPSFreedom of Press - Dying? Well, we still have it but it is increasingly digital and recorded. The big worry, I suppose is that it can become easier for governments to "abridge" the rights of free expression and a free press, since they can effectively "pull the plug/wire/air wave" of distribution. This also takes us back to the future. In the 18th and 19th century, newspapers were more like today's blogs and you had to sort through all the biases of the "owner" to figure out what was true. Interesting and challenging.

POPSSome Chrysler Models in Shortage JUNE 30, 2009 When both auto makers bring the plants that survived the latest round of closings back online later this summer or in the fall, they will be running fewer shifts and turning out fewer vehicles in an effort to manage inventory and keep transaction prices up. Michael Stravato for The Wall Street Journal Some of the supply shortages may ease slightly in coming weeks. Chrysler restarted seven plants Monday to finish building 2009 models that it had been working on when it filed for bankruptcy reorganization. All its plants will close again for the company's two week summer shutdown in the second half of July. Chrysler hasn't finalized its production for the rest of the summer, but expects to start production of 2010 models the week of July 27, it said. If it can avoid flooding the market, the inventory decline could help Chrysler and its dealers earn more on every sale, even if it sells fewer cars.

POPSCap and Trade Bill Bringing Refinery Closures Of course, the elitists who voted for this monstrosity aren’t worried about any of this. After all, they’ll continue to ensure they take care of themselves, and mostly at taxpayer expense. We shouldn’t forget that, after all, some people in the New America are “more equal” than others. Few acts could rival the hostility toward the American people and American prosperity than this abomination of a bill passed by the House on Friday. We have come to the previously unimaginable point where it is abundantly clear that the American government is overtly hostile toward it’s own people. Thank God the American people are starting to wake up to this despicable reality, as evidenced by the Tea Party movement. We have our work cut out for us, in stopping the destructive work of these domestic enemies now, and permanently removing them from office in the upcoming rounds of elections.

POPSISS To Be Scrapped By 2015 I had no idea this thing would be shutdown this early....I can bet this will be the last major effort in our lifetimes. With Obama probably dismissing our efforts for a moon shot, we are going to be stuck on the ground at the mercy of Russia and China. Just like after Apollo, we had to wait years before we went back into space with the Shuttle...

POPSOne Chrysler Dealer Who's Not Taking His Shutdown Without Setting Record Straight FItzgerald is smart, articulate, critical and offers advice to the "failed management" at both Chrysler and GM. Well worth a look and listen. Fitzgerald says he's bugged automakers to improve their consumer ratings for 20 years and, according to the Washington Times, has letters from former GM CEO Rick Wagoner and former DaimlerChrysler CEO Dieter Zetsche to prove it. Here's what Zetsche wrote to Fitzgerald in 2001: "We're putting a lot of effort into increasing the reliability and quality of our vehicles, which we're expecting will result in ... even more favorable ratings from Consumer Reports." In the magazine's April issue, which includes rankings of 2009 models, Chrysler was the lowest-rated automaker. GM was second lowest.

POPSUS Spy Flies to gain new eyes Techno geeks continue to make it easier to spy on and congratulate themselves for making spy tools smaller and more efficient. Politicians enable warrantless wiretapping to be more legally acceptable. They feign outrage but don’t punish those who authorized and instigated spying on us. The NSA spy-fest during the Bush administration was met with outrage by the press (for a very sort time) but nothing has come of it. Are they still spying on us? The police state grows because, let’s face it, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of resistance. Local police kick and beat suspects, boldly in front of cameras, and they are cleared of any wrong doing, which just emboldens them even further. Bloggers and citizen reporters are the only real sources of what is actually happening to us because the MSM is so concerned with keeping their ad income that true investigative reporting is all but dead. If somehow the internet gets shutdown, we will truly be in the dark.

POPSU.S.Media Kiss More Ass Than Venezuala's They are the model for our future. But here is the kicker. As if living in a dream, "Carlos Lauria of the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists said he is disturbed by Chavez's moves against Globovision." He goes on to say, "The consequences of a shutdown would be very damaging for Venezuela's democracy," W H A T ??? See how the line moves outside of the general awareness? And so it goes here! Cross this line. No, now cross this line. I dare you to cross THIS line! Each time convincing ourselves we are not into authoritarian ground heading toward fascism. Collective self-delusion is a powerful form of denial.
