White lions are regarded as a rarity in the wild. In captivity, however, it seems a different story. In fact three white cubs were born to another lioness at the zoo in Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock, south-west of Hamburg, at exactly the same time. She however, was happy to raise her litter herself. Fortunately these two-week-old white lion cubs are in good hands with the zoo keepers adopting the maternal role. In captivity, both male and female lions, who are unusually social compared to other cats, can live for over 20 years. The German public has a soft spot for orphaned animals. Knut, the first polar bear born in Berlin Zoo for 30 years, became a national celebrity after his mother rejected him. Life, however, hasn't been easy for the bear who attracts at least 200 visitors a day. He is said to have become addicted to human attention. 'Knut is a problem bear who has become addicted to human beings,' German animal rights activist Frank Albrecht said.

Later, organizer Mike Waechter said the people who put the event together know each other through Quixtar, but that the company neither sponsored the event nor endorsed Huckabee. He said Alticor, the Quixtar and Amway parent whose founders have a history of conservative activism, also wasn't implying any endorsement. In the Sheraton ballroom, many of the attendees, Quixtar participants and other invitees, were clearly behind Huckabee. Several said they plan to raise their hands for him when the Iowa caucuses convene on Thursday. And they didn't want to pass up the chance to hear him speak.

POPSW.H.O. to investigate Pakistan bird flu The strain H5N1, was believed to have infected four brothers, two of whom have died. The main concern, is that only one of the two brothers that died worked at the farm where the disease was found. The details are confusing with conflicting reports, but so far the fatal cases of bird flu, as far as doctors are aware, have been caught directly from birds. They are still on the alert for a case of human to human transmission. If such a variant happens to arise, the transmission will increase, and it will need to be identified quickly and specifically to develop an effective vaccine or treatment.

POPSWhere was this when I was on Deployment?! Holy smokes would this have been useful! We went to so many ports that just did not have any WiFi access AT ALL! I think this would have been a God send! (Provided there were cellphone networks). Anyways, I will wait for this to become mainstream before I drop the almost $200 on it.
