POPSI Will Try To Change This Societal change is very difficult. I I walk, down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in I am lost.... I am helpless It isn't my fault. It takes forever to find a way out. II I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I pretend I don't see it. I fall in again I can't believe I am in the same place but, it isn't my fault. It still takes a long time to get out. III I walk down the same street There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I see it there.' I still fall in.... it's a habit, my eyes are open. I know where I am. It is my fault. I get out immediately. IV I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it. V I walk down another street. To experience emotional ambivalence is to know one of life's deepest agonies. How can I change this? (cont)

POPSCEO-Speak In a time when investors barely believe what comes out of a CEOs' mouths, how could one be so vague. Either that or there are tremendous quotable omissions in the story. That's doubtful.

POPSThe Dumbing down It continues... Palin is the poster-child for low expectations in politics. Not only syntactically, but intellectually.

POPSRepublican Voter Fraud Hoax An old Republican scam, never been carried out with more zeal than this year. The only actual crime here is that Acorn managed to register some 1.3m low-income (read: Democratic-leaning) voters over the past two years. The rest is, pretty much, just made up. But in the bloody and desperate trenches of the Republican war on democracy, that's more than enough to kick in a last minute surge of lies that may - with the help of a compliant and lazy corporate US media - wreak enough havoc, scare enough voters, confuse enough people and plant enough seeds to call an Obama victory into doubt on November 4. f you can't win it, steal it. If you can't steal it, claim the other guy stole it. Same old worn-out Republican strategy. Read the rest of the article to learn how ACORN verifies the legitimacy of every registration. The result: exactly ZERO FRAUDULENT VOTES.

POPSSocial Media & Marketing - how do they go together? Interesting insight from the authors of "The Psychology of Sales Call Reluctance". Social media provides a tool for the less "in-your-face" type personality to offer value (and products & services!) with 100% integrity & congruence...

POPSObama Friends Call Character into Question A wise friend once said that "we learn from whom we are yoked". I believe that is so true. Whether a spouse, a business partner, a pastor, or friend. There's a reason why we are drawn to them and allow them to influence us....for good or bad. These associations speak volumes to me about the ideals, opinions, world-view, values of Obama...regardless of what he says. Words are easy & cheap. History reveals the inner man.

POPSThe Silent Epidemic of Health Illiteracy Most people know or have experience with the fact that it sometimes seems as if doctors are speaking another language when it comes to drugs, treatments and more. But is this problem bigger than it seems?

POPSI want my demogrant Taking mone from the most productive and giving it to the least productive. Well, jeesh! That should by him a few votes.

POPSDangers of "Group Think" Evident in March to War These are characteristics of most all groups, especially highly charged political parties which are easily recognized here. Note the silence of individuals plays a key role in conformity. Speak up! Collective Rationalization reminds me of the "group think" that led America to war against Iraq (per the neoconservatives preconceived plans), even though it did not harbor terrorists or attack the U.S., just because Bush and Cheney, after 9/11, said so. This same "group think" is within the entire story of 9/11 and the Collective Rationalization for a continued "war on terrorism" to invade other countries at will. GROUP THINK MUST BE CHALLENGED TO PREVENT UNJUST WARS. Number 8 (did not have room to clip) is here: Mindguards: Some members appoint themselves to the role of protecting the group from adverse information that might threaten group complacency.

POPSUS gasoline price marks biggest drop ever... I think this is great news and why would this not help our economy...which everyone seems to say is bad. I can't speak for anyone else but my own family, but the only thing that's been bothersome about our economy has been the increase in food prices. Lower gas prices should help...maybe...considering the transportation of food to local markets. Now if we can get rid of that dumb ethanol idea, pursue our drilling options and encourage the movement towards our alternatives, we have a go! The worse thing we can do is tie ourselves to the "global" financial option being proposed in Europe.

POPSThe Camel’s Back: How to Never Explode With Anger Mary Jaksch says: "I’ve talked to many couples who have been on the verge of divorce. The trigger for the rift is often quite insignificant. Or it seems insignificant. That’s because little things can make a big difference." ..." I’m passionate about embracing each moment and living with awareness, joy, and kindness. Ongoing personal growth is the most important thing in life. Because we are born with a huge reservoir of potential. It’s only through personal growth that we can access and develop our full potential."

POPSI'd Rather Listen to Insects Buzz (continued) Listening to politicians, regardless of party, discuss economics makes me sick both to my head and to my stomach. And the only people who are not similarly affected, I fear, are persons whose knowledge of economics is sufficiently scant -- or whose ethics are sufficiently perverted -- to protect their senses from being insulted by what issues forth from the mouths of politicians speaking on economic topics. So as an economist, I am no more interested in having Sen. Obama (or Sen. McCain) come to GMU's campus to lecture us on "how to manage the economy" than I would be, say, to have O.J. Simpson come to GMU's campus to lecture us on how to manage one's marriage. Sincerely, Don Boudreaux Professor and Chairman Department of Economics George Mason University

POPSBecause We Don't Need It... We don’t need more debts. Palin spent 15 million on a new sports center in the valley, leaving the small town of Wasilla, Alaska in debt to the amount of 22 million. (That’s 22 million more than the debt she took on when taking on this lovely playtime as mayor.) We don’t need family feuds interfering with duties. I know you feel your ex-brother-in-law was a dick… but trying to get him fired...Sarah? We don’t need another vote against gay marriage. This is just standard every day equal rights being overlooked. Sarah Palin disagrees. We don’t need to overlook global warming. Science can now tell us "Yup. That is happening.” Not my words, that is science speak. Sarah Palin disagrees.

POPSReligion, Caste, and Fear This has been brewing for some time in India with no coverage to speak of in the US. For a country like India with such a long history it's bewildering that they haven't eliminated such blatant rigid social expressions of division which lead to this bloody encounter.

POPSFish Picker From Alaska This is about Sarah Palin. I'm not American, I'm Australian, but I still have this grotesquely huge distain for the woman. Especially what she said about abortions. Don't get me started on it. x_x

POPSIf you suddenly fall ill, do your loved ones know your wishes? The Five Wishes document helps you express how you want to be treated if you are seriously ill and unable to speak for yourself. It is unique among all other living will and health agent forms because it looks to all of a person's needs: medical, personal, emotional and spiritual. Five Wishes also encourages discussing your wishes with your family and physician. Five Wishes lets your family and doctors know: 1. Which person you want to make health care decisions for you when you can't make them. 2. The kind of medical treatment you want or don't want. 3. How comfortable you want to be. 4. How you want people to treat you. 5. What you want your loved ones to know. … The document speaks to people in their own language, not in "doctor speak" or "lawyer talk." It can be used in the living room instead of the emergency room. And it helps families talk with their physician about a difficult subject.
