POPSNew evidence for prayer: gas prices Obviously the fluctuation of prices are due to mixed prayers. You see, every few minutes, an Arab prays, “Allah, raise the price of oil!” And Allah answers their prayer. Then an American prays, “Jesus, lower the price of oil!” And Jesus does it. And so on and so forth, thus the fluctuation.

POPS Can boredom becomes a tool for learning and creativity...? "Boredom as a temporary state is another matter, and in part reflects the obvious: that the brain has concluded there is nothing new or useful it can learn from an environment, a person, an event, a paragraph. But it is far from a passive neural shrug. Using brain-imaging technology, neuroscientists have found that the brain is highly active when disengaged, consuming only about 5 percent less energy in its resting “default state” than when involved in routine tasks, according to Dr. Mark Mintun, a professor of radiology at Washington University in St. Louis"

POPSEmanuel To Negotiate Three Presidential, One Vice President Debate With McCain Obama campaign manager David Plouffe on Saturday tapped close Obama friend Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.) to negotiate debate details with the McCain team and the Commission on Presidential Debates. The bi-partisan commission has had debates on the drawing board for quite some time. POPSYou Owe $455,000 * “People seem to think the government has money,” said former U.S. Comptroller General David Walker. “The government doesn’t have any money“ * The United States Department of the Treasury and the Office of Management and Budget published a report stating that the U.S. cannot grow our way out of the government’s liabilities, that the liabilities are quickly growing, and that failing to take drastic and immediate action would lead to very bad consequences (the report was written in 2006) * The International Monetary Fund - which oversees third-world economies - are so concerned about the solvency of the U.S. economy that they are conducting a complete audit of the whole US financial system If you owed $455,000, you might very well have to file for bankruptcy, unless you had some rich uncle who could bail you out. But if your uncle had bailed you out numerous times in the past and if you had consistently broke your promises to re-pay him - he’d probably cut you off

POPSThe Great Train Wreck of 1918 I have always considered myself a history buff... especially when it comes to the darker side of history: i.e. disasters, wars, atrocities, crimes, etc. I was very surprised when I saw this article posted on refdesk.com, one of my favorite all-in-one reference link sites.. Reading this story gave me a chill in my bones and the article is worth much more than my paltry efforts to clip the highlights. What was NOT clipped: The procedures of the railroad and safety guidelines and how it failed here. The lax attitude of No 4's personnel and their failures to protect the passengers. The tower person and his attempt to avert the disaster but his own part in not following procedure. The Interstate Commerce Commission's findings of fault and blame for the wreck.. I encourage all to look up this story and see what happened 90 years ago today. Thank You.
