PLUG IN AND GO ?
jt3600
by jt3600  7-19-2008    4
I'm all for saving the environment but what happens when we all plug in especially during long hot days, the electric company freaks when the air conditioners jump a degree or 2, then where will you be when you can't plug in to even use your car ? Where's all the electricity coming from ? What about being plugged in during storms ?

Markey (D-Mass) Global Warming Led To ‘Black Hawk Down’
merrie
by merrie  7-15-2008    2
Markey was speaking to 25 students from the World Wildlife Fund's Allianz Southeast Climate Witness Program. The students had come to the Capitol to brief members of Congress on the risks of global warming. The students were from the Gulf States. Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.), chairman of the House (Select) Energy Independence and Global Warming Committee, also equated the drive for global warming legislation with the drive for women’s suffrage in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. “Yes, that part of the world is subject to drought at times, but it has very little to do with global warming,” said Ebell. (Myron Ebell, director of Energy and Global Warming Policy at CEI) “It is subject to drought whether the global average temperature is going up, down, or staying the same. To say you know the conflict was caused by global warming is to show how really ignorant you are of the scientific issues involved.”

Green "permeable" pavement
egsnyder
by egsnyder  7-14-2008
Interesting item on "How Stuff Works" today. In the good old pre-pavement days, all that rainwater that now runs off roads, driveways, parking lots, etc. used to just soak into the ground. There is also a "how to" piece on Building Your Own Green Driveway included.... Building Your Own Green Driveway ============================ Are you a do-it-yourselfer with a green thumb? With the proper tools and know-how, you can make your own green driveway for around $1,200. First, grade the site and install a catch basin for drainage. Dig a bed and fill it with crushed gravel. Buy some plastic grass pavers (recycled, of course) and lay them down on your driveway base. Fill the pavers with concrete sand. Compact the pavers carefully and then roll down some sod and irrigate. In a few weeks, you'll have a grassy area strong enough to hold the weight of your car .

Why Canada is the best haven from climate change
Socratoad
by Socratoad  7-4-2008    5
As might be expected, developed nations score best. Canada is top, followed by Ireland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden. The United Kingdom is in 12th position, just behind the US. The surprise in the top 20 is Uruguay, which is listed ninth, and the only well-placed nation not to be in the club of countries which are rich, or Western (and usually both).

Bring The Rain

"The question just amazes me... can circumstances possibly change who I forever am in You?" "I am yours regardless of the clouds that may loom above" I can count a million times People asking me how I Can praise You with all that I've gone through The question just amazes me Can circumstances possibly Change who I forever am in You Maybe since my life was changed Long before these rainy days It's never really ever crossed my mind To turn my back on you oh Lord My only shelter from the storms But instead I draw closer through these times So I pray Chorus: Bring me joy, bring me peace Bring the chance to be free Bring me anything that brings You glory And I know there'll be days When this life brings me pain But if that's what it takes to praise You Jesus Bring the Rain I am Yours regardless of The dark clouds that may loom above Because You are much greater than my pain You who made a way for me By suffering Your destiny So tell me what's a l
