POPSDesecration Science did not prevent me from doing any of this and the microscope and every other tool is just a construct of our immaterial intellects. So free yourself from scientism The scientific method is itself a being of reason and not provable by the scientific method. The empiro-metric method while quite useful for studying the intelligibility of the world comes short when it come to ontology. Ontological question are aided by these branches of science but the empiro-metric view can't be used to prove ontological questions. The three layers of abstraction Metaphysical, Mathematica, and Physica are not at odds to each other and we need to return to the view that theology is the queen of the sciences, though this does not change the importance of the other sciences. Faith vs. science is a silly debate when there is not a "versus" only an "and." By the way I do highly recommend The Science Before Science: A Guide to Thinking in the 21st Century

POPSThe Republican Scandals Just Keep Coming Ted Stevens was indicted for corruption. Who would have thought the Party that has raped America for 12 years while they had the majority and after their Poster Boy Shrub was elected president, would be so stupid as to keep stealing and lining their own pockets? Anyone with a brain.

POPSChomsky: Israel is heading for destruction This is the only result when greed becomes an end unto itself. The society is greedy. Swinishly greedy. Along with the greed comes a blinding selfishness in which they think of themselves only and the rest of the human race can go to hell. How long can this go on. How long can AIPAC fool the stupid taxpayers of the US? As they find themselves more and more on the street while Israel's settlers bask in the sun next to their lavish swimming pools, even the dumbest of Americans will start to ask questions.

POPSAre we a laughingstock on gun ownership? If a politician goes against the gun lobbies and the National Rifle Association's desire to lessen restrictions on gun ownership, they lose! We are a Pistol-packing mama and papa, gun toting SON OF A GUN, nation, for sure. (E J Dionee writes about the argument of - if everybody were carrying weapons, someone would have taken out the murderer and all would have been fine...This is a stupid argument, driven by the stupid politics of gun control in the U.S.. When Richard Reid showed that nasty things could be done with shoes on airplanes, airport security started examining shoes. If we can act pragmatically in the skies, why can't we be equally practical here on the ground?) The questions that should be asked is... Why is America so violent, are guns to blame? or How many more mass murders involving guns will it take?

POPSBush: Out of Touch, and Out of his Mind At a certain point I fail to understand what our President thinks he is doing. It would seem he is newly possessed with an urgent desire to invade Iran, regardless of the circumstances. Apparently, he doesn't understand the game he's playing. He's confirming America's stereotype as a global villain in they eyes of the rest of the world. Bush led the push to attack and isolate Iran because of their nuclear weapons program. When that allegation was firmly contradicted by our own intelligence community, he didn't miss a beat. He's going on as if the NIE never even came out, still talking about nuclear weapons as if nothing had changed. Now Iran agrees to answer questions and open up to the IAEA, as well as fulfilling other obligations to the UN. As they do, Bush keeps cheer leading for war. Doesn't he realize that he's impeaching what little credibility America has internationally?

POPSVirgin or Slut: Pick One The message to young men is more subtle. In this fairy tale written, produced and directed by abstinence-only advocates, teenage guys are both potential villains -- the oversexed, hormone-crazed young men who must be refused continuously by good girls -- or potential knights in shining armor -- saving enough money from their summer jobs to buy sparkling rings that will save their sweeties from the hell of slutdom. In between pornified culture and purity balls, in between the slut and the virgin, the stupid, lascivious dude and the knight in shining armor, in between the messages directed at young women -- your body is your power vs. your body is dangerous -- and young men -- your gaze is your power vs. your gaze is dangerous -- are real young people trying to develop authentic identities and sexual practices. And they are struggling mightily. (L.c.)

POPSObermann Indicts Bush as Criminal Conspirator Clip on the top link and you can see the entire Countdown episode on video. McCain is witness from personal experience that torture produces confessions, but not often the truth. The only convictions of any "terrorists" since 9/11 (the alleged Kahli Sheik Mohammed) was gained through "redacted" (edited) testimony after long periods of torture--not by any other evidence. (And for the record, the man in Guantanamo was not the mastermind of 9/11 and the government had no other evidence).

POPSShabby, Cheap US Politician "Have Blood on their Hands" not Iran
"The claims that Ahmadinejad denies the Holocaust and has called for the destruction of Israel are false. He has called for regime change, which is something American politicians do every time they find a country whose policies they disagree with. Regime change is a change of government, not genocide. As for the Holocaust, he said it raised two questions: Why put people in prison who question details of the official version, which is what several European countries do. Why should the Palestinians be made to pay for it? Both are good questions. "How American politicians can call Iran a dangerous country and claim that it poses a threat to the U.S. is a mystery. On second thought, it is not a mystery. It just tells you that the politicians think you and I are so stupid that we will fall for the exact same parade of lies and exaggerations that was used to justify the war against Iraq. "Think for yourself. Iran has no nuclear weapons, and its military is designed for defence. It has

POPSPentagon plans microchips for soldiers brains. Like with 'IBM Verichip' this seems to be an attempt to introduce 'Organic Tracking Cookies'. All they have to do is convince people they are safe, or introduce them in a way that will not bother people (Like when they are unconscious, or offline) Soldiers, maybe, but when they talk about injecting them into trauma victims, they don't mention any approval by patients. Will it be left to the discretion of the treating physician ? Will they be obliged to tell the patient ? Will they consider the ignorance of the patient to be in the best interests of the patient, and the health system. Not long ago these might have seemed stupid questions "What is there to doubt" Surely we can trust the pentagon. They won't need an electoral roll, they'll have a catalog. Whoever gets the contract is going to make a fortune.

POPSALWAYS ASK QUESTIONS Read the whole thing...and never, EVER, assume that the people who run the country where you live have your best interests in mind.
