POPSSymptoms of drug abuse Addiction often leads to decline in work performance and struggle in personal relationships. There is a general apathy with addiction, or at least a re-prioritization of your goals, hopes and even relationships. This can cause you to lose interest in things you once enjoyed and likely will make your addiction your first priority. You may choose certain occupations and friendships based on their being compatible or complementary with your addiction to avoid conflict.

POPSAngry Clinton Supporters Toast McCain, Roast Obama "I'm a registered Republican ... for the first time in my voting life," Archuleta said. "No Obama for me. I'm voting for John McCain." "He reminds me of what the Jimmy Carter era was like. ... If they think Jimmy Carter had it bad, just wait if Obama gets into the White House. That will be bad news in so many ways," she added. McCain campaign regional communications director Tom Kise said, "Four years ago, if you said we'd be at a Hillary happy hour at the DNC, I would have called you crazy. But today is a great opportunity for people who ... agree that Sen. Barack Obama doesn't have the experience to be president of the United States." "The DNC really pushed on us. Now they've left us with two choices: somebody who has no substance or a Republican." Clinton supporters-turned-McCain converts at the event were not just angry at Obama's campaign; they're furious with the Democratic Party's nomination process this year.

POPSObamacans: True Independent Voters Great blog! This is a breath of fresh air in the middle of lots of hot air. Who cares when some reporter got a text saying Joe Biden was Obama's pick? This site is about substance and dialogue - I highly recommend it!

POPSNew 'arsenic-breathing' bacteria found While arsenic may be toxic because of the way it substitutes phosphorous in the process of burning energy, I don't recall boiling water being too healthy either. When life on earth was just kicking off, there was little free oxygen, and plenty of boiling water. Arsenic based photosynthesis is likely to have been working long before the green/chlorophyll based photosynthesis evolved.

POPSChutzpah, With a Capital "CH" Can you believe the audacity of McCain? First he manipulates Obama into taking his trip to Iraq and Afghanistan, which also resulted in a successful European tour. When that worked out too well for Obama, McCain declared that his opponent was being presumptuous, and acting as if was already president of the United States. Now that Russia has stormed into Georgia, McCain decides to send Lieberman and Graham to Tblisi to try to work something out. On what authority will the traitor Lieberman, and Howdy Doody Graham discuss anything of substance, with any officials in Georgia? On top of which, Condie Rice, Madam Secretary herself, is on her way to Georgia to assess the situation. She, at the very least, speaks for the president. For whom do these two McCain puppets speak?

POPSMan Dead, Large Amount Of Possible Cyanide Found "Our Joint Terrorism Task Force is involved in this simply because the victim here is from another country and it just kind of makes sense that our terrorism guys would take a look a look at this," FBI Special Agent in Charge James Davis said. Cyanide can be made from plants in very small amounts. It can be a gas, liquid or powder. It prevents the body from using oxygen and therefore is more harmful to the heart and brain than other organs. "It was used in concentration camps in World War II and by Saddam Hussein against the Kurds in the 1990s." Officials said cyanide can be used as a terrorist weapon if it is dumped in water put in food, sprayed as a gas, or many other methods. The investigation is continuing.

POPSFox News: Edwards Yes, Georgia War, No From the article: ERBE: The American public have told pollsters, this political season they want substance. Both these candidates have expressed support for allowing Georgia into NATO. … We could have been on the verge of nuclear war. Those are the kinds of the things that the American public wants to see discussed. JARRETT: Right. You know, but getting back to Edwards, during the Monica Lewinsky affair, Edwards absolutely ripped into Bill Clinton.

POPSMars toxin doesn't rule out life NASA The seas early in the history of the planet Earth were thought by NASA to be toxic to oxygen breathing organisms http://www.nasa.gov/home/hqnews/2005/oct/HQ_05338_toxic_seas.html Oxygen was also thought to be toxic to the majority of organisms existing at the time. The introduction of oxygen through photosynthesis when it evolved in plants, being the basis for one of the first Mass-extinction events. Nature has managed to squeeze energy from more toxic chemicals than perchlorate. Toxicity can be relative. Chlorine can be toxic in bleach, but can assist the conductivity of electricity ( when combined with sodium-salt) in non conductive organic materials. Still I thought it was funny this time scientists weren't just 'surprised', they were 'stunned' Beats me why they're still determined to find life on Mars, when life on Earth is getting such little respect.
