Veterans Respond to General Clark's Comments
cptenaud
by cptenaud  7-1-2008    2
The bottom line is this: If Democrats tuck tail and run from Republicans in this instance, we run the risk of ceding authority on military issues to John McCain for the rest of the campaign. Whether you like Clark or not, everyone has an interest in defending him vigorously in this case. We cannot allow the Right and the media to get away with trashing the first guy to come out in prime time to slam McCain's military "expertise." If our organizations don't defend Clark as being right in this case, we give in to the idea that Republicans are the parents in terms of national defense, and Democrats are the children--something those on the Right will be more than happy to reinforce. This idea that we can't question someone's expertise on military matters simply because they served could very easily become the next "whoever is against the war is unpatriotic" mantra. And that's not something I'm prepared to accept.

How do you masturbate an elephant
dakotayii
by dakotayii  6-26-2008    3
Of course male elephants don't (ordinarily, so far as we know) have any trouble ejaculating when interacting sexually with other elephants, and may ejaculate prematurely during their efforts to achieve successful penetration (Bagemihl 1999). It can take (presumably inexperienced) males a bit of rooting around with the flexible penis before finding the vulva. As is well known, the elephant vulva is not located just beneath the tail as is the case in most mammals, but down on the ventral surface and well between the legs, meaning that the vagina is very long (70-90 cm). This unusual position means that pregnancies are sometimes unnoticed and even that females have on occasion been mistakenly identified as male: Shoshani (1991) wrote of a case where a female was thought to be a male throughout her 25 years of life and was only found to be female on her death. Why elephants are built like this has been a long standing question.

The Difference In Dogs And Cats Excerpts From Their Diaries
merrie
by merrie  6-24-2008
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. The audacity! I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released --and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded! The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. The captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe.......for now. :D

How many words do dogs understand?
fewstingscorpio
by fewstingscorpio  6-18-2008    1
For other dog owners, we all know soon we have to say W for walk or C for cookie and so on. This must be done only because they learn words fast. As with the examples above, I would obviously say the 'fast part' is associated with positive things...they're not dumb! Tiger Pictures
merrie
by merrie  6-14-2008    3
Siberian tigers are among the world's most endangered species. They are estimated to number less than 500 in the wild. In about 100 years only a dozen white tigers have been seen in the wild in India. Other Photos at the website include: A 26-day-old endangered Sumatran tiger cub cuddles up to a 5-month-old female orangutan One of Australia's only two 'tigons,' a man-made hybrid created by crossing a male tiger with a lioness, licks its lips at the National Zoo. Bearing the stripes of a tiger and the physique of a lioness, tigons are usually infertile. An Indian Bengal Tiger (Panthera tigris) walks in a pool at a zoo

Komodo dragons; Komodo dragons
Yassin_M
by Yassin_M  6-13-2008    1
The first dragon had grabbed it by its testicles and was starting to chew its way into the body from below. The second dragon was slowly forcing the buffalo's head open and was going down its throat. The third was, as they say, going in the back door. To make an already grisly scene far worse, the whole slow-motion kill was being conducted in deep mud. After a few hours all was black - apart from the blood that occasionally bubbled up from the muddy depths, the white saliva that sometimes oozed from the buffalo's mouth and the bright, flickering forked tongues of the three dragons, which were forever darting around. Slippery things slithered slowly over other slippery things until it was hard to tell whose tail was whose, where one body started and another stopped and who was doing what to whom. The smell was fetid, the heat intense. Every so often the buffalo shuddered and tried to rise. Was it really still alive? We watched from a few feet away,

Do Dolphins Have a Sense of the Future?
Silkweaver
by Silkweaver  6-10-2008    8
It is their ability to understand sentences of sign language that astound though, with a sentence like “touch the frisbee with your tail and then jump over it” returning just that from the dolphin. This proves more than just rigorous training is the answer, but an understanding of what we are asking of them.

Food Stamp Use Rises Sharply
DanaGarrett

We are aproaching a point where 1 out of every 10 Americans will be on food stamps. That will not include the number of poor who, for various reasons, don't recieve food stamps. 1 out of every 10. That's beginning to sound 3rd-world-like.

9/11 Architect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed: Make Me A Martyr
merrie
by merrie  6-6-2008
It has declared Mohammed and other al-Qaeda accused to be "illegal enemy combatants", stateless individuals who should not be afforded the usual protections given to prisoners of war. Joining him (Khalik Sheikh Mohammed) at the long-awaited hearing were Ramzi Binalshibh, who is said to have been the main intermediary between the hijackers and al-Qaeda leaders; Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali, known as Ammar al-Baluchi, a nephew and lieutenant of Mohammed; Mustafa Ahmad al-Hawsawi, al-Baluchi's assistant; and Waleed bin Attash, who allegedly selected and trained some of the 19 hijackers who turned planes into missiles in the attacks. BROUGHT up in Kuwait in a family whose roots lie in the Baluchistan region of Pakistan, Mohammed developed extremist Islamic beliefs as a teenager. He claims to have joined the Muslim Brotherhood at 16 and to have fallen for violent jihad. Of beheading Mr Pearl, he said: "I decapitated with my blessed right hand the head of the American Jew."

Report: Bush LIED "reduced, marginalised, or mischaracterised"
righthand
by righthand  6-4-2008    2
Nothing new. Watch now as his lackeys discover that they have some backbone, sadly missing for years, as the lame duck fills his days sticking his greasy fingers in all the spouting dikes. Tricky Dick had nothing on this bastard. A world at war, the dollar sinking, 4,000 dead US soldier to a coward c-in-c, chaotic climate, worst recession in 50 years, FEAR endemic, civil rights shot to hell, Gitmo, torture, rendition, kangaroo courts, WMD and on and on synonymous with the United States. One million Russians couldn't damage America to the extent that Bush has. A fresh start is your only salvation! Tricky was an angle in comparison. Why isn't Bush - the bushwhacker - impeached. Why is the tail still wagging the dog?
