USA Doctors – Over Testing, Over Treating & Under Sympathetic
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  3-12-2010    1
HERE WE GO AGAIN! Another study proving doctors are over testing and over prescribing. NO SHIT! These studies pop up now and then but nothing happens to change the nefarious doctoring methods here in the good ole US of A. Maybe for a short period but then it’s business as usual. I remember a time when pediatricians’ handed out prescriptions for antibiotics to every child with a case of sniffles. As a young mother I was led to believe that if I didn’t give my child this “miracle” drug they would die. My kids had this potion pumping through their veins at least 2 or 3 times a year. Then, sometime later, it was found that this over treating was causing the antibiotics not to be so ANTI anymore and bacterials were turning into HULKS so it stopped! Nice after I raised my kids on the stuff! I’m so cynical now that I BELIEVE ‘NUTTIN HONEY’! BTW, to you teabaggers bellowing HANDS OFF MY HEALTHCARE. What healthcare? Oh the one that uses your body as a guinea pig to increase “THEIR” wealth?

I disagree. I believe that the media coverage is ALMOST 100% broken (exception is MSNBC) and that that brokenness has caused the masses to believe that ALL the government is broken. When actually, the government has been in dictatorship for the 8 years of Bush (check the books written on this), and is now in a broken state that is mightily trying to be fixed by the Democrats...with no help from the almost 100% broken media, the totally 100% dishonest corporations that fund the media, and now even the minds of the masses who are assaulted with a near infinite supply of corporate misinformation that makes them equate the Democrats with the Republicans who have destroyed this country, that makes them blame the Democrats for the mess that the Republicans left them and which the Democrats are heroically trying to tackle (with little help from internet pundits who regurgitate the right wing line that they see all around them). Mythological politics and thinking of the Far-Right and the TeaBaggers
ratilfar
by ratilfar  2-16-2010    10
We are dealing with a mythological mentality, based on simple and powerful archetypes. Contemporary figures and current events are plugged into a framework that never changes. "King Charles (or King George) is threatening the rights of Englishmen" becomes "Barack Obama is promoting socialism" — or fascism, or monarchism, or daylight saving time. As in other cases of mythological politics, like messianic Marxism, this kind of thinking is resistant to argument. If you disagree, then that simply proves that you are part of the conspiracy. Inconvenient facts can be explained away by the true believers. It's hard to come up with arguments that would persuade people who think that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are totalitarians to change their mind.

The poor Captain had to apologize, it's reported. "Just because some of the angry white mob were carrying signs that read: 'Tea Bag The Libs Before They Tea Bag You," didn't mean we were talking about the Tea Party folks." the editor said. No New Taxes and (there is sarcasm here): 'No Government In My Medicare!"...a poorly informed anti-health care slogan. The good news is that the TeaBaggers have finally arrived on the comic book pages where they belong.

It was a surprise to hear the daughter of funky old conservative Senator John McCain attacking Sarah Palin. But it was great to hear someone focus in on one of the true horrors of the recent Tea Party Convention: overt and blatant racism getting standing ovations. For the other video, comedian Stephen Colbert calling Sarah Palin a @#$#ing retard, you have to go to the web page link. Why Colbert so harsh? Because Palin wants one White House guy fired because he used the word: retard --- but fascist Republican big mouth does the same thing and Palin says it's okay.

Teabaggers Meet the Brownbaggers
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  2-10-2010
At last a grass-roots movement that doesn't represent corporate interest (unlike the teabag crusade). What took so long?? I would attend a brownbag meeting in two shakes of a lamb's tail if one took place near me. I could never get myself to go to an Astroturf teabag meeting, because their actions would have filled me with such rage, I probably would have told the fools just whose interests they were representing. (I’m sure they would have held their ears and sang GOD BLESS AMERICA to drown me out.) How easy it is to manipulate the human brain. While they hoot and holler and carry signs of bigotry, their anger is misdirected and they don’t even know it. We should all be angry at what is happening at the top. The rich are getting richer and they don’t care if they decimate us, the middle class while doing it. Hey teabaggers join the brownbaggers and together we can work to make America what it once was. FAIR AND JUST!

Yesterday the airwaves were abuzz re: the CEO of Goldman Sachs taking $100 million in bonuses and thumbing his nose at Obama in doing so. Other reports this week are confirming the sleight-of-hand and shadiness surrounding the TARP bailout of the banks: Specifically, that TARP money handed out by Paulson was not recorded, let alone accounted for or monitored; and therefore it cannot be traced or even determined whether it went to benefit American corporations, let alone Americans, and not foreign corporations or even private interests or parties. With these recent developments coming to light, along with the tea-baggers and Republicans continued blaming of Obama for everything from being born, daring to take the oath of office with unpresidential skin pigmentation, to daring to reverse the direction of the country from the cliff that Bush had so clearly left us heading for, it seems it's time to revisit those days of yore, those nostalgic last glimmerings of a time when we had a gover

The Republicans' Reagan Amnesia
ratilfar
by ratilfar  2-2-2010    13
And what were those principles, exactly? No. 1—according to the resolution—was “smaller government, smaller national debt, lower deficits and lower taxes.” Let’s take those from the top. Smaller government: Federal employment grew by 61,000 during Reagan’s presidency—in part because Reagan created a whole new cabinet department, the department of veterans affairs. (Under Bill Clinton, by contrast, federal employment dropped by 373,000). Smaller deficits and debt: Both nearly tripled on Reagan’s watch. Lower taxes: Although Reagan muscled through a major tax cut in 1981, he followed up by raising taxes in 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1986. In 1983, in fact, he not only raised payroll taxes; he raised them to pay for Social Security and Medicare. Let’s put this in language today’s tea-baggers can understand: Reagan raised taxes to pay for government-run health care.

Tea Party Convention Falling Apart

Not only are these folks helping to rip apart the Republican Party but now they are turning on themselves. It's more fun watching than a barrel full of monkeys. When their entire politics is based on lies and insults, what can you expect? We got at least three more years (or more) of a President with brains, guts and integrity -- Following the agenda the President explained in his first State of the Union will sink these disgraceful right-wing wackos into the dust. The Republican Party is now the most despised party in the nation (i.e. lowest approval ratings) - the Tea Baggers have started an internal civil war within that party -- the scam artist and con men have moved in for the kill. It's like watching a circus go bankrupt before your eyes. Oh what fun!

Run it over and over till you find a sucker 3. Edit the tape yourself 4. Sell it as news If they were cops, this would be called: entrapment. What they did is similar to Watergate. Planting telephone bugs in a Democrat's office to spy on them. Like Watergate, it led back to the Republican Party and the more it was investigated the further up the food chain it went, till Nixon himself was involved; and this fact helped lead to his resignation. Right wing wackos. Spies. Entrapment. Teabaggers. mob behavior. Racist and warmongers --Our democracy is under assault like never before. I can only think she must hang around a lot of teabaggers considering the level of her illogic. I wondered if this was our version of Al Quaeda brainwashing that she could consistently and self-assuredly continue her roundhouse attacks on anything from the Democrats, never wavering a bit no matter how her arguments -- lacking facts and evidence -- were crushed by the other roundtable members explication of facts, evidence, cause and effect -- you know, the things that are the basis of conclusions, deductions, and the best solutions.  What kind of damaged mind compares the very real , and very violent ongoing murder attempts against courageous counter-jihadist cartoonist Kurt Westergaard-- to the whiny baseless accusations of an NPR gasbag? People have a right to be angry about their taxes being used to fund Liberal biased garbage like this, especially in a time of such high unemployment and recession. Also--I find his 'death threat' claims to be quite hard to believe, unlike the very real hell Kurt Westergaard is living. Westergaard,(along with his 5 year old granddaughter ) only just narrowly escaped being hacked to death by an axe wielding Somali Muslim less than 2 weeks ago: there is NO comparison between these two situations. However, it is a valuable glimpse into the twisted minds that would see it like this. Sick.

Being able to imagine unreal but happy solutions to complex problems that our country is facing is a fun game; but let's not deceive ourselves that we know how to do it better and are superior humans to our elected Democratic representatives who are working their asses off, and now under the threat of death for real-world health care reform. With the Republicans pushing back against the Dems, and whipping them as they work, it is clear they are carrying out the wishes of the tea-baggers. For example, they are following those tea-baggers who -- seen in a clip shown on "Hardball" with Chris Mathews only yesterday -- dressed up as Pelosi, Obama, and another Democrat working hard for this country, and wearing masks of these politicians, played out being chained together like slaves… with ripped clothing, fake blood all about them, acted out being in pain, while other tea-baggers whipped these "slaves" (in effigy).
