POPSIn Love with Love: Watch Out!
By the second half of the 20th century, though, this culture of restraint had been jettisoned, and replaced by the idea that self-denial was self-abnegation. Now, in its general thrust, our culture is in love with the idea of love, awash with cock-eyed romanticism and unable to tell any more what's attraction, what's lust and what's love. Puberty, and even childhood is suffused with a popular music soundtrack that peddles endless trite paeans to the central importance of modern romance. The most surprising of people want naff anthems celebrating some songwriter's long-since ruined "true love" at their weddings. At some point, most teenage girls at least flirt with the idea of giving attraction a dry run by developing a crush on a pop star. Heaven knows what Wagner would make of it all. On the whole, people don't really like it when scientists tell them that attraction is all down to pheromones, or waist-to-hip proportion, or instinctive recognition of genetic differentiation.

What! Is this America? Oh the tyranny of the ever growing Nanny & Security State! Talk about something that "threatens our way of life"--it is government that is doing it! How many grew up riding bikes without helmets, safely, and loved it that way! In essence: "We are with the government, but will act like your parent instead, and make rules for you to obey or you will lose even your bike riding privileges". This, seat belt laws, ATV laws, even radical drug laws, etc. represent a liberty-killing totalitarianism by government that thinks it can protect people from themselves. This is over the top! Seriously, look how even the newspaper portrays this new sin in New England (birthplace of liberty), like it's a scandal! Yesterday, a teenage boy was spotted pedaling near downtown without a helmet, his blond locks fluttering. Oh, what a wicked boy! Meanwhile real sins and social crimes are treated like nothing, while they destroy families, marriages,

Of course, we should teach our teenage children good judgement, if that is at all possible when it comes to the powerful instinctual urges belonging to all life, the drive to BEGET. Try telling a teeny bobber about love and responsibility. They'll look at you, the same way you look at a dog chasing its tail, bewilderment of such a stupidity lag. But, for most parents, the teen "eye roll" just slides off their back, down to the floor where it can be easily stepped on. But all sarcasm aside, teaching this program alone is not just block-headed, its outrageously dangerous. By not equipping our young with knowledge on self preservation, we neglect the most basic fact of life, the instinctive teachings of fundamental survival techniques. One reason is simple enough: The proposed $541 billion Pentagon 2009 budget doesn't even include money for actual wars. George W. Bush's wars are all paid for by "supplemental" bills like the $162 billion one Congress will soon pass -- so the Department of Defense's $34 billion black budget skips "war-related funding." This means that even the overall figure for that budget remains darker than we might imagine (as in "black hole"). The Pentagon not only produces stealth planes, it is, in budgetary terms, a stealth operation. If honestly accounted, the actual Pentagon yearly budget, including all the "military-related" funds salted away elsewhere, is probably now more than $1 trillion a year.

Only seven in 10 transplant operations in Australia have been successful over a five year period due to rejection complications, and similar ratios would be expected elsewhere.
