Tom Starkel, Missing 30 Years
Delilah1234
by Delilah1234  Today 7:32 AM
I've been sifting through google, looking for whatever information I can find about Tom. One thing that has me a bit puzzled is the fact that Tom disappeared without a trace, and someone else was found driving his vehicle. (arrested then later released due to lack of evidence) YET when I view .state.ca.us/ Tom is listed as a Voluntary Missing Adult? Missing Person

India's Abducted Children Crisis
maggiesrose
by maggiesrose  10-4-2008
But excuses do not ease the burdens of families who’ve lost children. Internationally, human trafficking, whether for sex, slavery or adoption, should receive more attention than it does. It’s one of the world’s dirty little secrets. http://www.officer.com/interactive/2008/09/23/mothers-in-india/#more-319

Does Iran's President Want Israel Wiped Off The Map?
katsteevns

(cont.)When our dear Imam said that the regime must be removed, many of those who claimed to be politically well-informed said it was not possible. All the corrupt governments were in support of the regime when Imam Khomeini started his movement. ]]] and said the removal of the regime was not possible. But our people resisted and it is 27 years now that we have survived without a regime dependent on the United States. The tyranny of the East and the West over the world should have to end, but weak people who can see only what lies in front of them cannot believe this. Who would believe that one day we could witness the collapse of the Eastern Empire? But we could watch its fall in our lifetime. And it collapsed in a way that we have to refer to libraries because no trace of it is left. Imam said Sadda

Delilah1234
by Delilah1234  9-24-2008
A promising lead into the whereabouts of Reachelle Smith has turned out to be nothing.Smith vanished without a trace in May of 2006. She would be five now and authorities have not given up the search. Minot Police detectives have been following the case for two years. Investigators say they gets leads at least once a week in this case because pictures and details circulate around the Internet. This most recent tip comes from the Lexington, KY area. According to reports, Sheriffs there were investigating a girl who closely resembles Smith. Through DNA tests and pictures police were able to determine it was not her. Still, they will not give up the search. Police say, this tip was called in by a cafeteria worker near Lexington

The global chemical industry produces about 6 billion pounds of BPA annually, generating at least $6 billion in annual sales. The value of BPA-based manufactured goods, from cell phones and computers to epoxy coatings and dental bindings, is probably incalculable. Thoughscientists have known since the 1930s that BPA mimics estrogen in the body , for unrelated reasons, the chemical serves as an essential building block of hard, clear polycarbonate plastics and tough epoxy resins, ubiquitous materials in the modern world. "It's probably the largest volume endocrine-disrupting chemical in commerce," says Vom Saal. "This stuff is in everything." Because plastics made with BPA break down easily when heated, microwaved, washed with strong detergents or wrapped around acidic foods like tomatoes, trace amounts of the potent hormone leach into food from epoxy lacquer can linings, polycarbonate bottles and other plastic food packaging.

Scientists Develop New Computational Method To Investigate Origin Of Life
Mohir
by Mohir  9-3-2008
"Retroelements are an ancient and highly diverse class of proteins; therefore, they provide a rigorous benchmark for us to test our approach. We are happy with the results we derived, even though our method is in an early stage," said Patterson. The team plans to make the algorithms that they used in their method available to others as open-source software that is freely available on the Web. Scientists map out the evolutionary histories of organisms by comparing their genetic and/or protein sequences. Those organisms that are closely related and share a recent common ancestor have greater degrees of similarity among their sequences.
