POPSCheney Ratches Up The Rhetoric As wrong as Cheney is, they will continue to pressure Russia for having the nerve to stand up to the US and "New Europe" while France and Germany want to find out, who actually started this conflict.

POPSAfghans Fed Up With Government, US A strong sense of frustration echoed through dozens of interviews by The Associated Press with Afghan villagers, police, government officials, tribal elders and Taliban who left and rejoined the religious movement. The interviews ranged from the capital, Kabul, to the rural regions near the border with Pakistan. The overwhelming result: Ordinary Afghans are deeply bitter about American and NATO forces because of errant bombs, heavy-handed searches and seizures and a sense that the foreigners do not understand their culture. They are equally fed up with what they see as seven years of corruption and incompetence in a U.S.-backed government that has largely failed to deliver on development. Even with more foreign troops, Afghanistan is now less secure.

POPSIraq Reacts to US Spying Allegationby
Wisco Yesterday 5:22 PM Is there anyone the Bush administration isn't spying on? This reminds me of the time they spied on diplomats at the UN . These people are seriously and dangerously paranoid. Then, as now, the spying caused more problems than it solved. This is pretty much the definition of a disorder.

POPSHawaii Church Looks at Obama and McCain The National Council of Churches urges churches to look at politicians, government policies and civic leaders through a wider lens and to ask how they measure up to biblical teaching about peace, justice, protection of the weak and the poor, and stewardship of Creation. A Kailua church will use the National Council of Churches' "Christian Principles in an Election Year" for an eight-week course of study that will bring Scripture to bear on speeches and platforms of presidential contenders Barack Obama and John McCain."

POPSMcCain Hopes Amnesia Will Get Him Elected.
The American people would have toforget the last eight years to elect McCain and they would have to fall once again for the politics of divide and conquer, the politics of personal destruction rather than a politics that looks at facts and future plans. McCain has been part of the problem and now he's going to go in a fix it all? What a joke. The Republicans are FEMA. The Republicans are a still devasted New Orleans. The Republicans are stealing billions of dollars from taxpayers and putting profit into the pockets of Wall Street bankers. (maybe even TRILLIONS, with this latest bailout of failed mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac). The Republicans have led us into a war losing 4,000,plus of our own troops and now probably having killed 500,000 Iraqi's or more, cost us more billions (and maybe TRILLIONS) -- and this is for facts we now know are not true...Iraq had no connection to 9/11 and no WMD's But, forget all that. Amnesia. Vote for McCain. He has Alzheimer'

POPSUS Government Takes On Six Trillion Dollars of Bad Debt
This is like a bank robbery. Wall St. & Congress have conspired in the largest stealing of tax dollars in US History. This equals all the other failures of Bush/Cheeney and their cohorts. In comparrison, five (5) years messing over Iraq -- who had nothing to do with 9/11 or WMD's -- has yet to cost a trillion dollars, while this government bailout takes on liability for SIX trillion dollars,,, ... buying all these bad debt mortgage loans to save banker's butts and passing on that debt to tax payers. This should be no surprise. It's like FEMA in New Orleans. It's like starting a war for false reasons. It's like letting bin Laden run around alive and free. It's like running out of money to build and repair roads and bridges. It's like joblessness hitting the highest levels in five years. It's our country going down the tubes, whether for Wall St. bankers, Oil companies, or the interests of Israel. Bend over America, this is the final screw job of evil profiteers dest

POPSBob Barr: The "Change" of the Republican Party Powerful. The neo-republican party exposed from a former republican who pushed to impeach Clinton. Barr's credibility from being a very influential republican Congressman, and earlier experience in the CIA, make his arguments formidable. During the last 8 years republicans have left their own platform, especially regarding limited government and individual liberty which they once championed. Listen on REAL audio beginning at 1:00:00 mark. Despite much talk of democracy the Libertarian candidate is being excluded from debates from the two-party tyranny. Ron Paul and Bob Barr are just two effective witnesses to the "change" of the republican party and the great danger to freedom it poses. .

POPSBlessed By Misfortune - McCain’s Speech McCain has changed the GOP into the party outside the mess in DC and ready to clean it up. The liberals played the useful idiot roles by giving McCain the opportunity to go off speech and use them of an example of why hyper partisanship has destroyed DC. We don’t want purity to party, we want solutions to problems. McCain reminded us we can easily solve the aging and dysfunctional services like education, energy, taxes, security, etc. McCain, through his own riveting personal story of transformation from self centered cocky fly boy to dedicated man of his country, reintroduced himself to America, and reintroduced us to ourselves. The speech was a huge hit. And the comparisons to Obama were striking.

POPSPolitical Analyst~OR~Partisan Activists??? Olbermann's dominance brings out the worst in Matthews. Even Brokaw. They are both more balanced, when KO is nowhere in sight. An insightful eye can tell the difference when responding to Keith they are timidly stammering for words far enough in the extreme left bias to satisfy him. And their facial expression shows it - clearly. They are resentful, pressured, and under the thumb of Keith Olbermann. At a later point, with Olbermann gone, they are confident, balanced and natural. Myself, I can ferret out this kind of passive-aggressive, irresponsible phony journalism. There are just too many out there that cannot see that the line between news and amateurish blog has disappeared ~ probably for ever.

POPSIRA on the rampage So when is President Bush going to invade Ulster to assist it main ally? Lame Duck President, lame duck ideals, lame duck foreign policies. So which half-wit keeps telling us the war is over? Tony B'liar and his beneficiaries! So this is why they want 42 days detention, to stop people from talking about anything that might improve security. Watch out Britain. We are being suckered into doing something monumentally stupid...to accept what this Government says as truth.

POPSEvery Alaskan gets $3200 from oil money - for nothing! $22,400 for a family of 7, like Palin's. When oil companies pay taxes to Alaska, they deduct it from their federal taxes, and we of the other 49 make up the difference. 85% of budget from oil companies; residents pay no income or sales taxes, and state is rolling in dough, while most states are laying off teachers. How ironic, when an Alaska Republican opposes a windfall profits tax, and favor reduced government services - when they live, in part, off of government handouts from revenue the oil industry pays them to get oil to us!

POPSMcCain v Obama; Iraq Policy I can see if Obama were to become president, he would quite likely acquiesce to Iraq's original demands of a full withdrawal by 2010. But if McCain were to be elected, I don't see how he would convince the Iraqi government to allow us to stay beyond 2011.

POPSPalin Pledges Allegiance to AIPAC--Stamped "Approved"
From "Alaska First", and by-passing "America First", Palin goes straight to "Israel First". By consequence and definition then she can no longer be considered a "reformer". Like McCain, Obama, Pelosi, Hillary, and every other former 2008 candidate, the ultimate test of worthiness is not the American people but to the overbearing Lobby of a foreign government that sets the course of foreign policy in alliance with the neoconservatives--ensuring a continuance of the phony "war on terrorism"--to "make the world safe for Democracy" through wars for "regime change". How quickly Washington transforms everyone, even from the remotest states, by coercing conformity to global democratic agenda and blind allegiance to Israel through the muscle of The Lobby. This trumps all other considerations, is the hallmark of foreign policy (and why wars never cease), which also in turn has consequences on the economy (high gas prices, national debt, value of money) and domestic policy as well.

POPSOil Bubbles Point to Eco Disaster in Paradise
Collapse danger "What is frightening is that the Hoyo appears to be leaking from an area where oil was stored," Jeffery told New Scientist. Nor is the Hoyo Maru the only ship to be leaking oil – although for now, it is the only tanker which has been seen to leak. Jeffery and his colleagues are now seeking Japanese historians and shipping experts who could remotely assess the contents of the Hoyo's oil storage tanks. If the ship is found to contain large amounts of diesel, this will need to be pumped out in order to avoid severe damage to the local biodiversity and economy. The situation is likely to repeat itself around the Pacific over coming years. "A lot of these wrecks are in areas where the communities just don't have the resources to deal with oil pollution," warns Jeffery. In 2003, the US government pumped 10 million litres of fuel from the sunken hull of the USS Mississinewa, a US tanker that was destroyed by the Japanese in 1944 in the Western Pacific.

POPSProfanity Immunity I'd LOVE to have immunity on CM but heck lemme address what I think is "kinky" about GOP "family values" instead of the dreaded F word. (and I meant fudge) I find it profane that they are busy wasting people's lives and treasure on a war for political and oil industry profit. I find it obscene they they have bankrupted the government to pay for tax breaks for the rich, corporate welfare and an insane cold war military style buildup. I find it dirty that they have ignored the Constitution. I find it immoral that they tell us what we really need are some "moral values" issues to shroud their wickedness in Godliness; to keep what they are really up to out of sight and out of mind and out of the news at all costs. I find poverty offensive. I find injustice, racism, sexism, and homophobia offensive. But most of all I find the greed of empire offensive. Oh, F U D G E . . .
