boozich

yet another instance of BS from bush...and if they again focussed on US internal affairs (ie: monitoring CEO's of banks) the US would have found people and companies who did not have moral conscience

9/11: "In Their Own Words", the Jersey Girls Tell Their Story
blueridge
by blueridge  9-11-2008    1
While the government, media, talk radio hosts, and politicians all talk about the tragedy of 9/11, the Jersey Girls who led the fight for a Commission to investigate were treated like outcasts instead of victims with honest, sincere, and rational questions. Hear their story, since hypocrites will not.

Sill Officials Force Mold Whistleblower to Resign
cptenaud
by cptenaud  8-20-2008    3
Roeder's departure Friday, following his contact with USA Today, was purely coincidental, said Col. Sam White, an executive officer at Fort Sill. He said Roeder has a history of confrontations with base officials. "Purely coincidental." Guess the guy just had it coming, huh? "They can say whatever they want to say, but they're not being truthful," Roeder said. "I stand up for soldiers. I'm sure the word got out that I'd encouraged soldiers to speak." Roeder, a retired soldier, said he was told to resign or he would be fired. A long time ago, I would have erred on the side of the Army and its professional leadership. But not after the past half decade or so. Given its recent track record, I think the Army has to answer for this one: Why are we punishing people for trying to improve the lives of soldiers? I also think it's worth repeating what I wrote a few months ago about whistleblowers, the military, and the media:

Should Conyers Impeach or Write Another Book About Bush's Crimes?
papananook
by papananook  7-30-2008
Three years ago, Conyers' staffers on the Judiciary Committee produced a book about Bush and Cheney's impeachable offenses. Some of us helped them do it. After all, they were in the minority and couldn't do much more than write books. But now? In the majority? Now, should they be accepting that Congress no longer has subpoena power? Now, should they be accepting that Congress no longer has the power to legislate? Now, should they be accepting that Congress has no power of the purse? Now, should they be devoting tax dollars to the pointless vanity of doing what anyone else can do: writing yet another book on Bush and Cheney's latest impeachable offenses

Baghdad Bonanza - The Iraq sinkhole for U.S. Taxpayer Dollars
BobbyRutan
by BobbyRutan  11-24-2007    5
More: Nearly a third of the companies and joint ventures on the Top 100 are based outside the United States. These foreign contractors, along with the $20 billion in contracts awarded to the unidentified companies, account for about 45 percent of all funds obligated to the Top 100. According to David Walker, the comptroller general of the United States, the outsourcing of government has escalated across the board over the past five years, although oversight of the process has shrunk during this same period. In an interview with the Center for Public Integrity, Walker noted particular problems with military contracting. "We have identified about 15 systemic, longstanding acquisition and contracting problems that exist within the Defense Department—which is the single biggest contractor within the U.S. government—that we are still not making enough progress on," said Walker, who heads the Government Accountability Office. "I mean, this stuff isn't rocket science."
