From Across the Pond - Step forward George Bush
cptenaud
by cptenaud  6-11-2008    5
From Blog: And who will be joining in the call: leading voices in the worlds of the arts and politics, including the novelist Iain Banks, the artist David Gentleman and the human rights campaigner Bianca Jagger, have now joined forces to call for Mr Bush to face a war crimes trial in the Hague. Wonder how the Brits will handle the security and where they will force their citizens to assemble. Labour Against the War Anti-war protest planned for Bush visit to London Stop the War Coalition (STWC) described Bush as a "war criminal" and said the protest will be held outside the British parliament on June 15. And a Happy Fathers Day jr. bush, by the way, why isn't your new son-in-law in a military uniform!

Private Benjamin Or GI Jane? Brutal Bridal Boot Camp
merrie
by merrie  6-2-2008
First we're all measured and weighed. I'm here for one reason only - to look my best in my wedding photos. However, my BMI (Body Mass Index) is just about spot on as I'm 5ft 3in and 8 stone, so I'm told I might struggle, having less excess fat to draw on for energy. dinner is made up of strictly controlled (ie meagre) portions of soup, a small piece of salmon and a few strips of vegetable. The hard work starts tomorrow with circuit training on the lawn at 6am sharp. I turn in feeling hungry and anxious. Standing on the scales on the final morning, I've lost five pounds, and an inch from my thighs and hips. One of the other girls has lost a whopping 12 pounds and dropped not one, but two dress sizes. The Camp gave me the bridal body I had hoped for, and equipped me with the know-how to stay trim well into my married life. But most impressive of all, I survived the week.

God's ADA Policy.... from Leviticus
thejazzguy
by thejazzguy  11-5-2006
Apparently, a careful reading of Leviticus reveals an exemption from the American Disabilities Act for churches. This newly found exemption excludes vision impaired, mobility impaired, and persons with skin and nose disorders on the basis of being "profane". This is good news for growing mega-churches across the United States, as those pesky ADA guidelines whittle down their building funds.

Photographer Fired: Overkill?
slothraspet
by slothraspet  8-8-2006    5
Yesterday, Al-Jazeera published the photo (orginal and "doctored"), but now I can't seem to find it. Basically, it looks like Hajj got lazy with the photo and did a one-step photo fix or automatic saturation adjustment. The colors are all just much more present. I'm not saying that makes it okay or that the photo shouldn't have been pulled, but is this a legitimate reason to fire a photographer who has been reliably producing photos for 10 years? Or is this another blogger witchhunt?
