POPSInquiry into cop who lied in court Mr O'Brien said he was often high on drugs, including cannabis, cocaine, heroin and LSD, during undercover operations. But he denied this when questioned at trials. He now considers he was a drug addict at that time in his life. Tampering with evidence was also common, he said. Often the exhibit before the court was not the drugs he bought from the target. What he did Patrick John O'Brien was an undercover police officer between 1974 and 1977. He says he committed perjury by telling lies while giving evidence at trial, and that he: * Was often high on drugs while undercover, but denied ever using drugs when giving evidence at trials. * Asked a suspected burglar to help break into a pharmacy in Hamilton but told a jury the man invited him, and he denied "entrapment". * Told a jury that an accused drug dealer sold "buddha sticks" to him. The drugs were actually sold to someone else. * Tampered with evidence by skimming drugs from bags for his own use.

POPSFor Republicans, impeachment isn't a joke The point is that no matter how heavy-handed and disreputable Issa may seem, he represents an attitude that has never changed in his party, which was not chastened by its electoral losses after the Clinton impeachment. Listening to right-wing propaganda against Obama over the past year or so, such as the "birther" meme, it is clear that there is a certain kind of Republican that still thinks any Democratic president lacks legitimacy by definition, and that those Republicans will entertain any scheme to eject a Democrat from the Oval Office.

POPSCAIR and Media’s “Star Witnesses” in Rifqa Bary Case Facing Embezzlement, Mail Tampering Charges
Anyone who sent checks to the Global Revolution Church or transferred money through the church's PayPal account since August for Rifqa's defense is encouraged to contact the Orlando Police Department at 321-235-5300 (complaint desk) to report the funds missing. The “Judas Three” are also facing federal mail tampering charges. After the trio engineered a church leadership coup and fired the Lorenzs back in September, they intercepted personal mail intended for the Lorenzs sent to the church post office box. Instead of forwarding the mail to the Lorenz’s in accordance with federal law, they sent the mail to CAIR attorney Omar Tarazi, who is representing Rifqa's parents in Ohio. Tarazi, knowing that the mail had been illegally obtained, then attempted to use this purloined correspondence to sabotage negotiations with Rifqa's legal team, making him an accessory after the fact to the Judas Three's felonious mail tampering. Additionally, Tarazi never notified postal

POPSConnell Plane Crash: Subpoenaed IT Expert "Wellstoned"? More interesting news links at source that raise suspicions, as did the plane crash of former Congressman Paul Wellstone. That the news highlighted talk and suspicion of "sabotage" makes it much more substantive than a "conspiracy theory". Of course those who believe in "coincidence theories" have the Law of Probabilities and reasonable grounds of suspicion standing against them. Witness: 'It blew up and shook the ground a little bit.'

POPSA Slippery Argument Against Civil Liberties This website shocks and appalls me, but I can't say I trust the arguments that come next. Should we seal off public records because they are used to intimidate witnesses? No. Intimidating a witness is already against the law, so is providing assitance to someone who commits a crime. Why not prosecute the operators of the website for the crimes they are actively promoting? It seems suspicious to me that instead of enforcing the laws against witness tampering and harassment, they are instead making a move to reduce the transparency of the justice system. Shouldn't we maintain the transparency, to allow for legitimate public scrutiny, and then prosecute illegitimate uses for what they are: intimidation and harassment? I'm not well versed in this area of the law, so I would be interested in hearing other opinions. In the mean time this kind of logic makes me very nervous.

POPSAnother Republican FL Congressman Resigns Amid Scandal, Felony Charges Republican Rep. Arza and his cousin were recorded using racist slurs against a black school superintendent. Sometime after 8 last Saturday night, state Rep. Ralph Arza, in calm voice that betrayed just a hint of inebriation, left a 20-second message on the cellphone of his colleague. ''Hey, bitch,'' he said. "You're nothing but a bitch. You're a bitch. You're nothing but a bitch. God Bless you, bitch." Sometime later, in a voice just a little less calm, Arza left a second message for Rep. Gus Barreiro. "Hey, bitch. You ain't nothing but a bitch. You ain't nothing but a bitch, brother, my n****er.'' A second caller dialed Barreiro and cursed Barreiro out even more, profanely threatening him with physical harm for filing a complaint. Hear the two phone messages in question ( 1 , 2 ).
